Just before Christmas, I replied to an ad here on Fauna for 4 crested gecko juveniles from the user name "ciggledill".

The seller (at the time using the email for "Charles Green") told me that he would ship on Monday 12/22/08 for 12/23/09 delivery.

I contacted the seller via email on Monday to ask if they had shipped the animals--and I received no reply.

On Tuesday, the supposed day of delivery, I sent the seller another email asking if the animals were sent. I received no reply.

It was at this time that I realized that the seller was named "Casey Caudill" but I had been dealing with Charles Green. I posted in the thread here on Fauna about the potential scam since I noticed the seller using two names. The thread got deleted by the seller.

Around noon on the day of delivery---without any communication from the seller---and after I noticed the difference in names---I filed a Paypal dispute.

We went through the Paypal process and Paypal found in my favor because the seller did not reply. However--the seller had removed the money--so only $8.78 (Paypal fees) could be refunded.

I emailed the seller about the problem--and then he told me that he wasn't actually the seller---he was selling them for his cousin, Casey Caudill. He even called me on the phone ---and was pretty damn cool to talk to---as CHARLES GREEN.

After talking with the seller for almost a month---hearing promises of "paycheck coming" and "trying to borrow" and "have taken my cousin's PS3 as ransom for the money...." Today I had finally had it and demanded payment.

Today--after a month----Charles Green tells me that he is actually Casey Caudill and that he used a friend's Paypal account. He doesn't have a way to pay me back and suggests that I take him to court... lol.. for $191.

I thought I would take him to THE PEOPLES' COURT instead!

I don't know if I will get anything back from Casey Caudill --- but I want to WARN everyone else about his identity changing internet deception & fraud!

I have been looking at the Dragon's Den red cresteds--they are nice.

I just can't make out the reds as well as the orange. About how old are they?

When can you ship if I paid through Paypal and lastly do you guarantee live arrival?

I can ship out monday for tuesday delivery, I use 72 hour heatpacks and I guarentee live arrival, as soon as payment is recieved I can send you a shipping invoice and we will have everything ready for you to get them on tuesday. I actually spend 150$ alone just about 3 weeks ago on the orange spotted dalmation, but I don't have the time to take care of these cuties because of family issues, let me know

Actually Mark, the shipping is included, I only ship via fed ex overnight just to make sure they get there safe, the box will also be packed weather appropriately and I will make sure they get there safe. Paypal id is [email protected]

I sent these emails on the day before and day of the supposed arrival. I recieved no reply so I then filed the Paypal dispute after Fedex came on that Tuesday. (This was when I realized that I had paid Charles Green but answered an ad from Casey Caudill.

My aunt is really my mom, and since im 23, my parents dont care what i do. I have been out of work, not able to find a job. I didnt rip you off tho, thats one thing. I had the geckos, then our deal fell thru and I gave them to a local breeder, who I then lost contact with. Thats what happened. I have been trying to scrape money up, even tried snagging a job at the bk. If I dont have the money in 2 weeks im giving you the ps3, a gift from my grandparents who are ill, so atleast give me the 2 weeks. If you feel like you need to take me to court I understand

Casey is telling me today that he is trying to borrow the money to pay me and he would like to make payments. I don't feel that I can believe anything he says at this point---so I need some help from you all. I want my money or the equivalent!

I would like to report this to his local police but he won't give me his address to confirm it with the police. He would like me to file a small claim and go to court. I would just like to record this event with the police if they would be willing to talk with me about it---before it's more than $191 and a couple geckos.

I've known Mark for a bit and have done business with him several times. He is nothing but honest and fair, and there are several people out there who could stand to learn a thing or two from him. You say the emails were tampered with? I call BS. Prove it. Post the copies YOU have, with full headers.

You are called out here as a bad guy for a reason, you are the worst type of person to buy a reptile from. You took money for geckos you either didn't send or just plain don't have. You then took the money out of your paypal account before the deal was even near completed, most likely to try to keep from it being taken back. And now you come up with this stupid "I'll get you your money" talk.

I have a sale going on right now that is not yet completed. The buyer is picking up a crested this weekend as a matter of fact. And they would be delighted to know that I have not taken one penny of their money from my paypal account yet. Why? Because the buyer has not yet received the gecko. And until the buyer receives, and is satisfied with the gecko, it is still their money.

Now your name is forever etched into the BOI as a bad guy for anyone at anytime to see. If your friends or family decide to google your name it will show up. If a future employer decides to do an online search it will show up. It won't go away, EVER. I hope it was worth it.

Excellent detective work. I just quickly skimmed over that thread, and will definitely be back later with popcorn to sit and read it all. It has all the makings of a great mystery novel.
