In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know of a recent transaction with this user. I recently purchased two leopard geckos from this seller. The transaction had to be put on hold for a bit due to inclement weather. When I was finally able to get a day for them to be shipped, they were sent right away. The geckos arrived next day, in professional packaging, with styrofoam and heat packs. The seller took extra precautions with packing and used thicker containers to put the geckos in and placed the heat packs where the geckos would stay warm throughout the entire trip. Upon opening the package, I had two very alert, WARM and healthy geckos. The weather was very cold here and yet due to the great care taken, they arrived alive and warm. The seller also stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process, and has done some follow up communications to make sure everything is going well.

Ms. Rivera,
Please understand, while many are glad you had a good experience with this mysterious person, few of us would be willing to do business with someone who cannot or will not supply their name. I have found that most people not willing to supply their name have something to hide and that something is generally not good.

I understand all of your skepticism, it's good to be cautious. Just trying to do my part in reporting a good transaction. That's all, nothing more, nothing less. :)

You don't know the full name of the person you sent money to? Seriously? You just sent money to a Mandy - 32839, just like that?

This is funny stuff. Ha!

I have seen this person's ads for leopard geckos and would've really like to buy some but the whole no name thing made me not buy them.

From the Rules for Posting on the BOI: Topic lines should display the name of the person or business that the message is concerning.
Many BOI thread titles also include the persons username, because it helps with the name recognition, but the way I read that statement is that the real or business name are required to be in the title.

On a side note....don't be to surprised that people give you a bit of a hard time for sending money to an anonymous person. The bottom line is that getting a full name is in a buyer's best interest. (That doesn't mean we aren't pleased that you got what you paid for.)

Can you provide a link to the classified ad?

I too was a bit concerned about the lack of info. But, after talking with the seller about the geckos, I decided to take the chance. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but money nonetheless. It was a judgement call on my part, and I am happy that I acted on it. I am in no way saying anyone MUST buy from this person now. That is your own judgement call. I decided to post my experience for anyone else to look up if they were wondering what experiences others may have had with this person. I meant no harm to anyone.

Since I obviously did this wrong (which I apologize for whole heartedly), please feel free to ignore or delete this post. Again, I'm sorry and lesson well learned. I will not reply anymore to this thread.

BTW...this is my FIRST ever transaction through ANY kind of classifieds. I usually go directly to the breeder. Not that this is an excuse, but FYI.

Alicia,
The official word on the matter is that if the Fauna username is the only information one has, that is good enough. The goal is not to prevent people from posting their experiences with a seller just because they don't know the person's name.

If one is making online purchases from people not known to them, requesting a name and phone number is a good practice. A lot of people don't list their personal info in ads...but are willing to provide it to a (potential) customer when asked. I have encountered very few people that were unwilling to provide their name when I inquired about an animal.
