In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm TRYING to hold off on buying anything new until I get my rep room set up but this little guy I couldn't resist. I found him on craigslist with 20 pounds of gravel and the owner was selling him cause "he wouldn't eat"..a rat....I'm serious...So for 30 bucks I got him, 10 gal set up and a screen..everything else I threw out. I told him he could keep the rat:dgrin:

But before pictures and happiness and etc...the more important question is (since I've never had a baby pacman)

Do you automatically QT and use the Lamsil dip for 5 days..on every new frog you get? regardless ifs from craiglist/breeder/show/etc.?

On the topic of lamsil dip...how often do you guys do this, beyond the first time you get the frog?

How long do pacman frogs hibernate for? My other pacman hasn't eaten since thanksgiving. I've tried everything under the golden sun and he doesn't even flinch..I THINK (I'm not 110% sure) he's going to shed his skin but he shows no signs of it actually happening. Today I cleaned out his cage and put down some damp coco fiber like always and he buried himself in it..like BURIED...you cant even see him.right now it looks like I have a tank of coco fiber...Silly question but is he ok like this? My temp is 75 and my humidity is between 60-75%

now pics..the first 2 are the new albino I got...the last one is the in famous stare down I get everytime I look at My other frog

Congratulations on your new baby! I have a two and they are awesome!!!
QT is very important and should be done on all of your new acquisitions.
Steven Busch worked with a Herpetologist and John Wood of Pisces Molecular and brought the Lamasil treatment to everyone's attention over a year ago. He recommends 10 days of treatment to allow for human error. Be sure to sterilize the enclosure after each treatment prior to putting your baby back into it so there is no risk of contamination. Also sterilize the bowl or container that you use to treat the frog in. I use a 5-10% bleach solution and rinse very well until the smell is gone in the qt tank. I have treated all 7 of my frogs and 5 toads and the difference is so remarkable!
I have an ornate that was down for 3 months this winter and just surfaced. She was not aestivating, just slowing down for the wither season as can be expected. If your first pacman is over one year old it is recommended to allow them to aestivate as it increases their life span.
Once you are done with the chytrid treatment on the baby and you place the frog onto the coco fiber you will want the frog to eat daily, or give it your best shot anyway. I did this when mine were babies by not making the coco very deep and putting the cricket keeper in view of them. Watching the crickets move about can help to stimulate their appetites. Just make it deep enough that the baby feels secure and that should work out just fine.
My adult pacman frogs burrow constantly and I only see them when they are hungry. Sometimes I feel like I have a "tank of pet dirt" :)
There has not been any documented cases of reoccurrence after the initial treatment is completed, so re-treating them is your choice. I do know of some keepers who choose to treat annually. The sheds left my frogs and toads with beautiful coloring and stimulated their appetites to a level they never expressed prior to the treatment, well, besides typical baby voracity anyway.
Good for you for saving this frog! It's fortunate to have found such a wonderful home!

Temps are on the low side, try to maintain 76-85*F, low temps will put a frog off feed and it may aestivate. especially ceratophrys frogs. its possible to have then disappear under the coco for as long as 10 weeks or so.

Hes ok under the coco, raise your temps some, humidity is good.

Let them sleep when they want to, as soon as they surface you can offer wax/butter worms as they are almost irresistable to most frogs and will turn a non feeder into a feeder.

Also you can mist heavy and up the temps to stimulate feeding.

Good luck!
