In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello:

I'm hoping someone can help me track down a vendor at the hamburg show. When you enter the show, all the venomous snakes are to your left. This particular vendor was the 2nd row from the left and vendor was toward the start of the row.

He was selling a bunch of eyelash vipers. Many were young, under a year old. I think he had them for roughly $100.

Does anyone know who this may have been??

Thanks,
PJ

Apologies, I posted it here because I noticed I could choose "info" as an option.

I believe the table was shared. Nothing special about the table, no signs, or anything. The guy was young, kind of tall, reddish blond hair, skinny, and I believe he may have had a goatee. He was the only one with a bunch of eyelash vipers, many young and one adult male (yellow with some peppering). He also had a baby green anaconda.

I know...not very helpful :(

I'm hoping someone was at the show may remember. There weren't many eyelash vipers there... :)

Seth, Where did you see that rule?:shrug01:

Check the Rules for posting on the BOI...
This will need to be in a format that will allow a reader to quickly find what they are looking for. Topic lines should display the name of the person or business that the message is concerning. Please make it easier on the readers by letting them know whom or what your message is about without having to open it to find out.

did you leave it in that cup overnight with some water? the post on the boi looked like he injested a lot of aspen. I'm sure you didnt buy him that way. other then the aspen in his mouth he looks to be of good weight/scale. If the aspen was indeed the problem, I dont think its the vendors fault

lid removed
placed within cage
snake has the chance to climb out of cup on his own

End of the day, if aspen is the culprit why on earth even use aspen in the first place...

I have my snakes on aspen without a problem bc i dont feed them on it, but occasionally you'll see animals that just wont do well on certin substrate. if it were me I would have removed it from the deli cup when I got it home and let it adjust to the cage temp

Want to clarify

I have corresponded with Peter since my original post, and we both concluded that Jon Healy IS NOT the vendor in question.

Peter, again I'm sorry for your loss, but I think it's important we let folks know that Jon Healy was NOT the vendor.

Sincerely,
Gary Schiavino

Gary, agreed. Thanks for your help. :)

I'm going chalk this up to a lesson learned. Next time I'll make sure to get more info from the vendor.

At least it wasn't a $1k motley boa.

Peter = Joe? (doesn't matter HERE, but it could in other sections of this site)

Also, I agree with letting people know that it wasn't Jon...but, since this isn't the BOI, people need to be careful about adding names to this thread (because naming names would quickly change this into a BOI thread). If anybody would like to offer suggestions as to who the vendor might be, please do so via PM. At that point, the OP can decide whether to make the details known on the BOI.

I saw a snake at a show that had a ton of bedding in its mouth just like the snake in the pic the OP posted.

A woman stood outside in the sun smoking a ciggy and even tho it was 55 degrees outside it cooked the animal she was holding in a deli cup and when she noticed it and brought it back to the vendor's table the snake was in what I call the "death throws" by undulating its body all over the cup with its mouth open taking in bedding every time it hit the bottom of the cup. It died a couple of minutes after she brought it in.

The vendor temp gunned the animal and the temp was 139 degrees! Believe it or not, the lady pitched a fit wanting a replacement or her money back saying it was a defective animla.

Yeah, I'm not too sold on the whole defective/sick snake here, looks more like some form of improper handling.

I would feel dumb posting what he has. He's basically saying he bought a snake that was within hours of dying and couldn't tell. Plus he didn't get any kind of contact info from the vendor.

Aren't venomous snakes for advanced keepers? I would think an advanced keeper could tell a dying animal from a healthy one. Not to mention an advanced keeper would have gotten contact info.

I'm starting to believe that you sir are no advanced keeper. This may be a blessing in disguise for you. If the snake would have made it you may have been envenomated at some point and I doubt that you have a supply of antivenin on hand for that particular animal. You may have been the one who ended up belly up in container. :shootfoot
