I'm sorry if i offend anyone, but I find this post to be rather amusing. It's simple facts.

1. The package being poor can be subjective even if it leans a closer to being poor, but at least he had a heat pack in there. (I do understand that the insulated liner adds to security as i ship all my reptiles in them)

JIn, you are wrong on all 3 points!

When a dragon is received so severly chilled it can not move when its taking out of the box, that is a very bad packing job...thats not subjective. the insulated liner adds heat retension.

2. The dragon made it fine, at least he put it in tupperware and not just roaming around in there as i've seen a few times.

How do you know the dragon made it fine, actually it did not make it fine. I guess in your eyes putting it in tupperware makes it all good?

3. The seller OFFERED to refund the money, Buyer was somewhat satisfied with his purchase because he decided to keep it.

I decieded to keep the dragon because I knew exactly what to do with a lizard recieved in that condition and had the supplies on hand to treat her. I was not at all satisfied, not even close.

It was at this point that you contacted Shawn to try and reach a resolution, correct? It was only after he refused to work with you to come to some sort of agreement regarding compensation for the dragon's poor condition that you decided to bring it here, right? You exhaused all other avenues?

did you call or e-mail Shawn before starting this thread? Yes, he reacted poorly, but it seems to me this could have been avoided.

This is the email I sent the day after I recieved the dragon, complaining about the bad packaging and an almost frozen dragon.

The only way this could have been avoided would have been with shawn using an insulated box to ship with. the moment the cardboard box was delivered to me it became my problem. by that I mean I had to do everything I could to keep her from developing an RI infection from being so severly chilled.

There is no resolution that is wanted by me. its a done deal as far as I'm concerned.

It think shawn knows now that he needs to up his game as far as shipping goes, at least I hope so.

I started this thread with thoughts about bringing attention to your incredibly bad packing job on the dragon I bought from you.

Then you post that you ship all your dragons in the same manner winter or summer. its the worst possible situation for any animal you ship under those conditions.

I want nothing from you other then you to start using some sort of insulated shipping box....thats all.

Yes, I did miss that post, Ed. I think the same could have been accomplished with a phone call or via e-mail.

At this point, any lesson Shawn could have learned from this experience has been learned. My only fear is that in doing so, a potential asset to the community may become jaded and turned off with Fauna, which we do not need.

Perhaps, now it is best to sit back and watch his future actions rather than trying to crucify him like some have. If it turns out the heat is warrented, I'll be the first to grab my pitchfork!

This is what I mean when I say people only read what they want to respond off of.After I said "Nobody is whining about anything or acting immature.I am one of the only people on here responding like an adult" I followed right up with "I also would like to add that me trying to run a professional business I know I should not have stooped down to responding to those immature posts like that.It's just when your completely furious and full of emotion it's hard not to.I let it get to me which I shouldn't have.When you see something your working so hard to build getting ripped to pieces from every angle it's hard to control yourself."

Ed I appreciate you showing so much care towards your animals.I respect you for that but you are and did take it to the EXTREME.Which in terms is deserved by the animal.I personally do not know what the animal looked like when you received her but I know how I shipped her.With the temps not being extremely low and me only not insulating I would have to say the animal wasn't that bad.She warmed up and was fine.I understand you might have taken extra measures to ensure her health but what it boils down to is the animal just needed warmed up.What exactly did you have to do with her when you received her?I've received cold animals before that were fine once they warmed up but for my personal knowledge in case I ever have to treat animal like you say what should I do?Also, I would just like to add you are being very difficult.Your not being understanding at all.Creating this forum was definitely not the first measure you should have taken and I think you know that personally.You might not admit it but I think you know that.I don't deserve to be on here to be made a fool of.I understand you were probably upset and that's why you created this just the same way as I was very upset and that's why I responded back the way I did.The bad guy label is for people that you should absolutely avoid doing business with.I'm not one of those people.I produce beautiful dragons that I go the lengths to care for.I do know the right methods to ship and animal.I do insulate my boxes.I have references to back me up on that.In your case particular I made a bad call not to insulate and that's what it comes down to.I understand your going to defend your actions as them being the right thing to do.It wasn't.Not without at least discussing your issue with me first.Everyone knows in a situation like this or similar you should take it up with the buyer/seller first.Not go and try to ruin his business.You created this post before you sent that e-mail.How do you know when you contacted me I might have said "I'm sorry here's 10 free dragons or here's a million dollars for your troubles".You don't know what I was gonna say to you or do for you.You just went first thing to create this forum.You over-reacted to an extreme measure.I tried to offer you your money back.I offered you plenty apologies.I don't know what else you want from me. If I was you I would make sure to bring my shipping up to the accepted standards. There are plenty of resources out there that describe proper reptile shipping. A google search would be a good start, plus pay close attention to the differences between shipping different types of reptiles.

An apology and an acknowledgment of improper shipping methods would be a good start, but I'm not sure it's going to help you out. Update your shipping methods and hope that people will give you another chance. That's really the best you can do.

The words you type first are rarely, if ever negated by the words you type last. If I were to threaten and rant and act like an idiot, then at the end, say,"I'm sorry", it doesn't really change anything.

Ed, when did i say just because he put it in tupperware makes it all good? I said he at least had it in there, it was finding light in a situation that was a bit grim, looking at the brighter side. Please do not twist my words.

All my points are debatable because it is my opinion. I am sorry i called it "facts." So in my opinion, I still think a bad guy rating on a guy for bad shipping after he still offered to refund you your money, was a bit harsh. We all make mistakes. I think the better course of action would have been to teach him verbally on why he made a mistake, and how he can go about fixing it so that he may never run into a dead reptile during shipping. Why call him out and embarrass him in front of the whole community? If he refused to listen, then bring it out so he can learn from the whole community. We are all brothers and sisters here because it is a rare thing to have a love for reptiles, so in the words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

Mr.Carter and Mr.Clark, I have read everything that has been posted on this subject and to be honest, I am shocked on both your parts. I honestly believe that both of you are good men, but you do show poor judgement in some of your decisions. Mr.Carter, I am disappointed in the way you packaged your dragon because in all honesty I have only received crickets or superworms in that type of box with the screen on one side or both. Does that mean I will never do business with you? The answere is no. I do however expect a box that is insulated on all sides with the bottom and top regardless of the weather. You could have easily placed that heat pad at the bottom of the box and placed the insulation over it for safety of the dragon. I do however appreciate the use of a tupperware dish to make sure that the dragon is not tossed around.
Now Mr.Clark, I have read many of your bios too and many of them have not been good. I do however agree with what you have said about the shipping, but that does not excuse you for all the things I have read about you either. I am not trying to upset you when I say this, but I expect more from you also. When I buy a bp I expect it to be healthy and parasite free also and that you also should follow your own shipping advice.
You both have made mistakes in your business practices, so the most I can say is Learn from the mistakes and do your best not to let it happen again. I sit back and I read these bios to make sure that who I purchase from is a reputable person and who will not blow me off if there is a problem. I hope both of you men can understand that and rise to the occasion gracefully if that happens again. I believe you both can and will from now on.

I agree with you.Good post but I would just like to say I've never shipped with screened boxes.I don't know where that came from!

Mr.Carter, I saw it in one of the pictures that was with the original post supplied by you or Mr. Clark. If this was not a picture by you then I apologize for the misunderstanding, but a picture was supplied to this post that showed a picture of boxes on a shelf that has screen on one side. If you did not supply this picture and Mr.Clark did not send this picture then it does not need to be in the post and should be edited if possible. Again I apologize for the misunderstanding on the box Mr.Carter, but I do still stand by what I said in the post and I hope you understand that it is just my opinion of the circumstances that had been posted. How do you work things out after the damage was done?

I recieved a severly chilled dragon...nothing that would be said would correct that situation.

It was not an isolated mistake, thats the way he has been shipping for a long time he said in 1 of his posts.

All he needs to do is start using insulated boxes of some kind to protect the live animals in the box from cold or heat.
