    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My buddy gave me this ball python about 3 weeks ago (Ive had him isolated in a different room) I noticed today that he was breathing with him mouth open and I noticed mucus in the corner of his mouth on both sides. What can I do to make him better, he seems active and his usual self though.

off to the vet sounds like he has RI Good luck!!

Joseph,
your post is in the wrong section!
But on a more serious note, it sounds like he has a respiratory infection.
If you can, get him to a vet as soon as you can, they will proscribe him something to help with it. It will probably be an injectable shot (at least that's what my vet gave us before) they will either teach you how to give the injection or will hold the animal for you until it is better. In the mean time... up his humidity, make sure he is nice and warm! Respiratory infections are usually caused most often from being too cold (but that's not always the reason which is why you should take him to the vet!) Make sure he stays away from the other animals! If you can, when his mouth is open, make sure you don't see any unusual spots in his mouth or throat (that would be mouth rot, a very serious infection)
Most of all make sure he is comfortable. If he has any substrate in his cage, I would maybe replace it with paper towels until he gets better (as some can actually make it worse)
You've come to a good place to find help, I'm sure tons more people will chime in soon :)
Good luck, and remember, the most important thing is not to give up!

Kylie

What is his enclosure? What are the temps on the hot and cool side? ( you will need accurate temp readings) Wheres the humidity at?

If you see mucous, you should go see a COMPETENT reptile vet that can give the right dosages of the medicine your snake might need. This can turn deadly if not properly taken care of, so the faster you get to the vet, the cheaper, and better the outcome will be.
