In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Positive "stuff" subforum as a counterpoint?

I'm honestly not sure how easy it is to create, remove or rearrange forums and subforums using the software here.

But how about the polar opposite of the sound off and hell forums?

Someplace for those things which are... happy, uplifting, respectable and good... but which don't fall under one of the other subject specific forum headings.

Human interest kinds of stories aren't usually something that line up real well with my personal tendencies, but every once in awhile even an angry cynic like myself sees something significantly and fundamentally decent that I want to spread around. I know some of the personalities who use the site might be a LOT more inclined to use it more frequently though, skittles and hugs are right up their respective alleys.

Just start your own group forum. Then you can call anyone you want an idiot and get away with it.. Just my 2 cents.

I like the idea, but it seems that positive reinforcement could be accomplished anywhere, and there (in my opinion) needs to be more of it mixed in with the regular forums.
I really do not think that the post above mine was very appropriate though, so I'l hold the warm fuzzies for now.
I do like the idea of telling people they are doing something worthwhile. Good idea.

I agree, having a reason to smile and be happy sometimes can change a days worth of attitude.

I meant no harm in my post. I just feel after reading the op's last post that he may enjoy having his own "forum" section.

I certainly am not opposed to this idea, but throw some ideas at me as to what it would be called and some sort of description that could be used that would attract people to it.

As has been done in the past, perhaps a poll might be instructive as well as to the receptiveness of the general membership to something like this.

A little advice from someone who's 'been there, done that'. I've been given a hard time in the past several times for posts where I meant no harm, and I've come to realize that what I meant is irrelevant, what is germane are the actual words in print, because people can't read my mind, they only read my words.

It's worth it to look again before you hit the 'submit' button to see what your post looks like.
This is VERY hard won knowledge, so please take it for the gift it is.

Great idea

I say call it either SKITTLES AND HUGS or SOUND OFF TOO!!! Whatever it gets called I think it is a great idea. While I can not give an example at the moment I have encountered circumstances that were "just cool" that make you stop and say "wow", but in a positive manner. And hey, who wouldn't feel a little better after spreading around a little skittles and hugs to others, huh?

Sounds good to me AND I like 'skittles & hugs,' as long as the skittles part isn't followed by 'taste the rainbow.'
What about 'pay it forward' or 'random acts of kindness' ?
