In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have noticed some of the tags on a variety of thread.

It seems that ANYONE can add a tag to a thread????

Many of these are completely irrelevant to the thread, and often are very rude and hold no merit.

some are funny, don't get me wrong.. but some are just mean. (like the one calling some girl fat that had very little to do with the thread in the first place, etc)

I guess I am curious as to why others the the OP can add to a tag? And why irrelevant ones are allowed.

just wondering.

thanks

Probably because we don't check them. Personally I never look at them. And I'm sure the mods have enough on their plates as it is.

So I guess I need to take away something else because of a few bad apples...

Just as a FYI, only paid members could create tags on threads started by other members. Honestly, you would think such members would be interested in helping this site, as I had intended, with the ability to make better use of the tagging system, rather than screwing it up with irrelevant crap.

There goes another toy, people. Thanks bunches....

Tags?
We have tags here?
Honestly, I rarely scrolled down far enough to see them. When I got PMs about inappropriate ones, I addressed them, but it wasn't something I went out of my way to look for because it was one of those anonymous things....I could remove them, and somebody could come right back along and put them up again without fear of reprisal, since I couldn't tell who was posting them.

Yeah, not sure how much tags help. I'd expect people search (heh, when they actually bother to use the search) more often for people and businesses than subject matter.

I'm with Harald. I didn't even know that anyone could add them.
I say good riddance.

yeah, I had noticed them before.. and thought that it was quite rude.. and a few days later.. there were more added..

and just today I saw the same thing.. and when I actually looked a lil closer, I saw that I could add a tag to it.

*sigh*

no point to it.

only paid members could make them? strange... when did that change? It was that there was a limit of 2 tags per person per thread from my understanding. I was making them on the BOI when there would be multiple threads covering a particular individual and could only make two per thread.

Well that is how I have the permissions set for the various member groups. Not to say there isn't another setting somewhere else that overrides those selections.

As for their utility, I don't know for certain, but I would suspect that the search engines use them to some degree to help index threads they crawl through. At the very least, they do have some utility here in a search function (when used properly and intelligently) to help users find threads that are tagged with keywords that will help them find the relevant threads. But like just about everything else here, some people choose to abuse whatever functions they are able to. Yeah, too bad the taggers can't be identified. I would put a stop to THEM rather then the function damned quickly.

I went through and deleted a LOT of the tags. Now you all are limited to only the ones remaining.

I just tried to add tags to the Mojo thread (caliente) and though I was only exploring and didn't add any, I could have. Is it just that thread or can anybody edit them after all? :shrug01:

The tags are fun, if enought of them are added you can get an idea of what the taggers are thinking.

They really are harmless fun.

Thread tags.... THREAD TAGS.... Here is what I think about THREAD TAGS.....

The thread tags are to help with the search function. They are NOT a comment area.
