In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Outbackreptiles.com

Your right it was not very nice :(

There could be other animals as you speculated.

To clarify, Mike takes care of the animals in the wholesale and breeding facilities as he stated.

My mistake Ed. Mike wants to be a wise ass, seems to enjoy being one, so have at it. I might even join you later, as backup.

I never said I cared for all the animals we have, and I never said I was the only one who took care of the animals.

I'm ashamed to admit that my wording warranted further clarification.

"I never said I cared for all the animals we have"

So tell us are there other animals than in the wholesale and breeding facilities that you say you care for?

If so what are they if they are not a part of the wholesale and breeding facilities?

BOI: Scanning radar... target acquired... ATTACK!

Mike poking the bear is not a very good idea.

Just curious

Mike, it seems like outback reptiles is a pretty large company with multiple employees. Who is in charge of the purchasing? Is there a manager who oversees the daily operations? Is there an at least an engaged owner who makes policy and decisions there? Is there a reason a tour of the facility would not be granted for a potential retail customer?

Somebody asked about Ryan, Josh, and me, and I responded with who we were and what we did. I care for the animals- however, so do other employees. I'm sure neither of us is going to lose sleep over an argument about the semantics of my word choices so lets find something else to worry about.

And I sleep with women too.

Doesn't (necessarily) mean I've slept with yours.

Like I stated before Mike you are a complete disgrace to Outback Reptiles. you can continue your smart ass comments and remarks dragging Outback down further than you already have.

I kind of doubt you have ever slept with a women.

With all due respect to Outback reptiles I will not post anymore in this thread.

Mike - your signature has been removed. I suggest that, when selecting a replacement, you think twice about using that space to knock this site.
(I'll catch up to what else has happened here shortly)

Ian G. is the owner and engaged would be the exact word I would choose to describe him.

We don't give tours of our facility because we do not want to be held liable for killer florida burms eating anybody (joke). But seriously its for insurance purposes that we don't allow the public in. Once our website is up we will have virtual tours available for those interested in our animals and how we keep them. Its actually a very cool place so I'm excited that we can showcase some of our innovations in a way that keeps everybody happy.

A video showcase would very much satisfy me as for as a tour goes. that would have been helpful to know and i would of been excited to hear that when i made the other 4 inquiries about a tour a few months ago. if i could of got some footage then i would of already spent about $4k - $10K with yall already but its good to hear you are getting something like that up now

yeah i know, just thought maybe they might put a little effort in showing the inside of the facilities but with out a in person tour i still wouldnt put any real money or my business on the line buying in bulk from them. i run a real business and only deal with real people and if i cant tour their place in person im not spending anything with them. lol my last post was kinda a smart @$$ comment. hope no one thinks bad of me for it

I was kind of hoping for something other than the generic "insurance" reasons. A reputable business of that size should welcome not only retailers, but potential retailers and serious buyers to check out the facility and put their customers at ease with the conditions and care given to the animals. I work in automotive as a manager and we certainly don't allow customers to roam the shop for insurance reasons but do welcome them to look at the vehicle condition and speak to the mechanic under an employee escort.

If the owner is "engaged" than I would hold the whole business accountable for not practicing good business ethics. Why would a business support unethical treatment of animals and continue to purchase from the person(s)breeding them? Money is the only answer I can come up with.

I would appreciate the owner of this business to step up and talk about this issue and explain what steps will be taken to prevent similar situations from happening again.

They toss in messed up, skinny, neglected geckos because they don't want to deal with them. I think that is one of the most disgusting things I have ever read on this forum. I know, I know, some here might roll their eyes and think I am overreacting but take a second look at the condition those leopard geckos are in. Starving, dehydrated, metabolic bone disease! Crap like this makes me kind of ashamed to be a leopard gecko breeder. It really does. Anyone that allows their geckos to deteriorate to the point that the ones above were at should not be keeping any animals period, whether it is the folks at Outback Reptile or their suppliers. And how in the world could anyone mistake those geckos for healthy ones unless they are blind!? Give me a break.

Kelli, I couldn't agree with you more. My stomach literally turned when I read what was posted. While ots good that outback has stepped up to resolve this issue, this, I believe, is a mistake that could have very easily been avoided and never would have happened.
I see outbacks name popping up more and more here on the BOI with bad guy titles and it shows to me that this is a company I will never do business with.
Debbie and Jazmin, I really hope outback has stepped up fully to resolve this issue and my heart goes out to those poor geckos. I do hope they are able to make a recovery from all this.

Is there a reason a tour of the facility would not be granted for a potential retail customer?

i made the other 4 inquiries about a tour a few months ago.

Tours of commercial operations like Outback almost never happen in this industry.

There are many reasons why, a good one is the limited amount of time required to maintain the many animals.

It sickened me to see the picture of the little leo that was starved, neglected for so long that MBD had taken control of that poor thing. this was something that could not have happened overnight, the twisted and bowed legs was a long term neglect issue.

Could that have all taken place there? I don't know. is it possible they received that neglected leo in a shipment? that seems like its possible.

Outback has many strong areas with many healthy high quality animals. Ian G is a pioneer ball python breeder that produces new morphs on a regular basis.

Shipping out that neglected gecko was very wrong in so many ways, I'm sure they all get that now.

I would not add Outback Reptiles to any of your do not buy from lists because of this leopard gecko, I would certainly ask questions and request pics on any purchases in the future.

Homework and due diligence is a must when buying anything online.

Why would you want to buy animals, new morphs or not, from a company that gets their animals from a sub-par "wholesaler", then in turn, doesn't keep them in proper conditions (IE: doesn't quarantine), and then sends them out to customers?

While the geckos certainly contribute to them being on my do not buy list, it is the cocky attitude and smart ass comments from Outback representatives that really turn me off. I'll take my money to someone that appreciates their customers rather than someone who tries to deny the transaction ever happened and makes flippant comments about sleeping with other men's women. I noticed the attitude before in other threads when I was researching outback to see if I wanted to buy a jaguar carpet python from them or not, and they will not get that sale.

:iagree:

This is just sick to me.

Also, you mention that "Since the OP's problem has been resolved I don't see how this thread is heading anywhere constructive."
Has the problem been resolved? Has she been given a full refund plus the cost of veterinary care for these geckos? How are the geckos doing anyway, anyone know or bother to find out?
Whether or not Outback's bad transaction with Jazmin and her aunt has been made right, the bigger picture here is the type of business dealings your company does. I don't think that's been resolved.

Here's how one of the geckos is doing: http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=53338

Posting links to threads on other forums is not acceptable on the BOI. I realize that this topic was initiated there...but it was brought here. Obviously, people are free to continue the discussion on whichever forum they prefer; but if the thread starter (or anybody else) wants something posted here, it must be posted here (not via link).
For a more complete explanation of why, there is a stuck thread at the top of the BOI...4th one down: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146268.

I don't want to remove somebody's whole post because of an outside link; but if it persists, I will do so.
