    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Beware of Zach ashwood ( bad news )

Attention Kmart shoppers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have received a full refund from ZACH ASHWOOD for my origonal payment , and the cost of the vet bills incured when he sent me the sick boa !!! I would like to thank you all for all the help and support I received duuring this trying time .... I realy wish Starvin' Marvin would have met a different fait ... I cant thank all of you who gave me advice and tried to help poor marvin enough !!!! I wish you all a wonderful thanksgiving !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will post the vets final results when they are made availible to me !!!

Mike, I am VERY happy to read that this situation has been rectified in your favor. In my opinon, you most certainly deserverved it!

Zach, I am equally glad to hear that you went ahead and did the right thing. I know that some of us may have been tough on you, myself included, but that was only because we/I truly believed in our feelings on this matter.

Just out of curiosity, you just signed up, Joe... but you put in your user name "2008". Just a bit odd. This is your first post. Out of pure curiousity, why is "2008" and not "2009" in your name.

I am sorry that Starvin' Marvin did not survive, he was a beautiful boa.
I am happy to hear that you received a refund and hopefully we will only hear good things about Zach in the future.

Haha, yea I've always had 2008, my graduation year (19 yrs). I browse the forums alot just never bothered posting until I came across this.
 
I'm glad your boa is doing well Joe. I still have the sister and she's growing very quickly.

For everyone else...Mike told me the vet said there were no parasites or deseases. He told me the vet told him the COD was dehydration and...anorexia? Can snakes even be anorexic? It is a shame the boa passes he was a great looking sunglow, one of the best colored I've seen. I'm a little upset about the vet visit though to be honest. Mike had told me the vet gave the boa a shot to kill parasites...but now that we know there were no parasites and no desease I just wonder if that didn't cause a problem. And I'm just asking guys because I don't know much about anti-parasitic medicine. I had spoken with the vet on the phone and he told me the snake was dehydrated. I asked him what, beside refusing to give water to the boa, would cause dehydration. He told me an infection or desease or parasites. None of which he had. It just makes me wonder what made him dehydrated. Does anyone know of another reason why he would become dehydrate and has anyone ever heard of a snake becoming anorexic? That just sounds silly. Oh and the vet also told me on the phone the snake was "depressed". I didn't know they trained vets to also be snake pshycologists as well. Anyways I just thought I would let you guys know what Mike has told me and what the vet has told me.

Yes, anorexia simply means that it would not eat.

It is possible, depending on the medication that was used. I know offhand that Ivermectin is a commonly used systemic anti-parasitic medication that can be lethal if dosed improperly. There are probably others, and someone more familiar with them may be more helpful.

That seems like anthropomorphic conjecture to me, as far as I know reptiles have not been shown to have emotional responses.
 
It's possible for the immune system to become depressed, meaning weakened.
I'm still hoping we'll get to see some vet report scans soon on that necropsy.

Anorexia isn't that simple. Disregarding the human implications, it still involves an inability to maintain a healthy body weight (it can happen with reptiles that eat, too). Generally, by the time the term anorexia is used, the snake is emaciated. The physiologic processes result in changes that do make less likely that the animal will eat...or, if they do, that they will regurgitate or suffer other ill effects (in fact, it can trigger a further downward spiral that ends in death)
