In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Touch of Class Reptiles

:eek:Pay up Chuck!

Not yet. :NoNo:
Echecks can and do BOUNCE.
I took one once and it never cleared. Thankfully I didn't ship the animal yet but be aware that people can send and Echeck thru Paypal and it can bounce just like a normal paper check.
Look at the expected clearing date and make sure it clears on that date and doesn't get "resubmitted" due to lack of funds.

:eek:Pay up Chuck!

Oh not so my dear Deborah. :)

No money has been actually refunded, just the promise of it.

Its a technicality, but I'm still owed.

Anyway....lol....

Think about this, he had three days to refund the money, and on the day its due he sends an E-Check. Why didn't he do that three days ago so that the money would be there today? To buy some time, and buy more time.

I'm happy that's its $500, but I'll be even more happy, EVEN SURPRISED, if that E-Check clears. I truly don't think its going to clear.

Hold on Chuck. Alex did what he needed to do to make sure his boss understood that he needed to give Jason his money back. He has no bearing if his boss does not have the funds.

I will be really fair here in saying it did take time probably because Soto was likely confused in the matter and didn't understand everything that was going on. I believe he did think Jason was trying to rip him off. This is where Alex's roll was very important to make sure his boss didn't seem like a terrible business man, and make sure Jason got what was owed to him. Thats a heavily load for an 18 year old, and he did a good job. If he was 21, I'd buy him a drink.

With this said, I cut Soto some slack with time because of a language barrier. If the check clears, people should treat his business fairly, as this was likely a confusing matter. If the check does not clear, then go ahead and mark him down as a slime ball.

Alex explained to him what was going on, and he paid. I say Alex's name should be in the clear in full now. If ya quit handling snakes like that Alex, I'll pay up on that drink when you are of age : ) If you bet him $5 Chuck, you should pay up on this one.

Any other bets? Day isn't over yet..still plenty of time to get in on the action.

Randall, wanna go double or nothing that Kelvin uses the reasoning he lost an employee/translator is all because of this thread and therefore he will not refund a single dime?[/QUOTE]

Naw, 5 bux is enough.
Tell me where to send the $ if I lose. I NEVER welsh on a bet.
If you lose, send the Five Bux to Fauna.

1 - This is America. The language IS English. Cant understand me? Language barrier? Back on your raft and get the :censored: out! Dont need you, wont miss you, I tend to my own garden anyway.

2 - He is a slime ball no matter if the check clears or not.

Well that didn't really need to come about. There is no federally declared language, and I hope there never is. But while it certainly caused a lot of trouble for people in this case that Mr. Soto did not speak English very well, I am sure it causes him the most trouble (hence why he has a translator).

Funny how every country I visit, many people speak English far better than I speak their language, and they are flattered that I try. It is a bit sad that here we expect perfection upon entry when I see people on these forums that have been here their entire life and can't figure out if they should use "then" or "than."

Let's hope Alex sticks to his guns and finds work with a reputable business. If he is to be believed, the animals he shipped were in good shape. If he truly believes that, he may be lacking some experience, or Kelvin may have something a little more insidious going on at his facility. This could mean he needs to work with someone that has a little more knowledge and class than Kelvin Soto, hence quitting is entirely justified. He may also have realized that his reputation was tied directly to Kelvin's, and his means something to him. In all fairness, he did own up to his role in this transaction.

For as many folks who will say he should have changed things from the inside, there are limits to a young man's capabilities, and there are more than likely more folks that would begrudge him for staying at such a low class company.

Hey everyone, Jason Here,

I wanted to let everyone know that I have received a notice today from Kelvin Soto, as well as from paypal that I will be receiving an eCheck in the amount of $500.00 to refund the purchased that I have made with Touch of Class, less the veterinary fee's that I have agreed to claim financial responsibility for and the cost of shipping, which I am also more than willing to accept. This is a bit of a shock, because I truly expected the worst from this situation, though I am happy to say that this was not so. Feel free to view this notification yourselves at the link that I have posted below:

http://sites.google.com/site/olexianpro/

Though I am still disheartened with the manner in which this situation initially developed, despite minor personal losses I can now say that the final outcome of my business transaction with Touch of Class has ended in a more positive manner.

The remaining matter that bothers me is that an innocent animal, which had no representation in any of these matters, is now dead and really for what cause? This simply was not fair for the snake and as a veterinary student I feel horrible. Fortunately, some good will come of this and for the remaining snake, the deceased body will enable us to better direct our course of therapy once the necropsy has been performed.

I did not receive any final instruction from Kelvin concerning the remaining living individual and how he wishes this to handle this matter however, until otherwise notified I will continue to fund veterinary therapy at my own expense and will keep all of you posted concerning its status. I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to view and comment on this thread and I will leave all of you with a paraphrased quote that was given to me by an admired college:

We are seldom recognized for the positive actions that we conduct from day to day however, we will always be remembered for the manner in which we accommodate the displeasure's of our clientele and peers.

Thank you all!

Sincerely,
Jason Olech

Glad you got your due!
I know a lot of folks are saying ToC should have covered vet care but I honestly think this is the best any WC seller will do. Also since Jason offered from the get go to cover it himself I don't think it's right to flog ToC for not covering it. I do think ToC should have done this off the bat rather than having to have it dragged out of them, but at least ToC did it and so I wouldn't say they are a scammer.
Unfortunately, letting an animal get really sick and then selling and shipping it is the sort of thing one can't really put a price on and the sort of stain to one's rep that refunds can't really repair. I just hope this is a wake-up call and they makes sure their husbandry is as good as they like to say it is, and no other animals are made to suffer.
Good luck with the remaining snake Jason, I would like to know how he fairs.

Mike, there are 18yr old kids that play professional sports and are captains of their teams. Granted, a lot of that has to do with the way you are brought up, but some of it has to do with a personal desire. So just think about that, and remind yourself where talking about managing a pet shop here, picking animals out and putting them in a box. You'd have to be pretty limited in capability and have ZERO desire at 18 if you cant do something as simple as that. What is there to it? I mean you inspect the animal, you bag the animal and you put the animal in the box.

For Christ sake, there are mentally challenged people working in pen factories with more responsibility than that.

You see things so clearly. I do believe you hit the nail dead on (so much for my giving people the "benefit of a doubt" it NEVER works out).

I am still holding to my theory..just reading to see how it plays out...the whole thing (shipping healthy snakes but receiving deathly ill snakes) is not making ANY sense...therefore, something had to happen that isn't being revealed.

I have to give Alex credit, he did take a stand with ToC, and walking away from a job, any job, in this economy is not easy to do. He took a lot of heat for a situation he had no power to resolve, and regardless of what the animals may or may not have looked like when packed, he is trying to salvage his own integrity and remove himself from Mr. Soto's influence. That says a lot to me.
:iagree: Good for you Alex!

I'm not saying the guy had no part in this. I'm saying that he was doing as he was told, as Kelvin picked out the animals to be shipped. Should he have recognized the issue? Yes. In hindsight, did he realize his error and help achieve a resolution? I think so. Let's not crucify this guy before he has a chance to redeem himself. I've made mistakes....so have you.

Jason,

I can understand why you are upset. But i can rest assure that the snakes I PACKED looked nothing like that. And that was all I did..Pack the Snakes. I did in fact speak with you on the phone and told you Kelvin Soto, the owner of Touch of Class Reptiles was now dealing with your case. Please understand I have nothing to do with the decisions made by Kelvin. The decision was not in my hands but in the hands of the Owner.

Best Regards,
Alex Estrada

What part about those snakes being in that condition, and the part the kid is CLEARLY lying about don't you understand?

Should he have recognized the issue? What issue? The issue that he was handed sick snakes to be shipped out and insisting he didn't?

And in hindsight we should forgive him because you feel bad for a lying snot nosed 18yr old kid.

You are a fool for taking this kid under your wing. You want to aid something helpless? Adopt a dog.

Chuck. You are starting to get under my skin. But I'm not going to lose my composure like you want me to. So just drop your "beef" with me.
