    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

As for the winners, I'll send you a PM with details.
Thanks again!!!

Crud, managed to miss it. That's what I get for not checking a thread I think nothing is going on in.

Can auctions be posted outside of this thread, so that maybe those of us who don't keep coming back to check it every time something new is posted don't miss it?

When I ran these auctions I did put up ads in the appropriate classified sections, to draw attention to this thread. With these books for ex, I put up an ad under the "All Other Herp Related Material" section of the classifieds.

I knew I should have had this book auction up longer...thats my mistake. It would have been great had you noticed this in time...all the $ is going for this site and the more $ the better. I'm really sorry, its my fault, I should have ran this auction for at least a full week.

The important thing is that you're doing something, rather than nothing. Gotta give you kudos for that. I'm just always looking to expand my library.

Thank you Shadera :)

Yes Brian you did win :) so did Kristy and Martin...I've sent all of you PM's.

Thanks again for everyone who bid! I wish you all the best for the holidays

FOR THE FISH ENTHUSIASTS

FREE SHIPPING on ALL of the following 3 auctions. The bidding increments can be as low as $1. Auctions ending on SUNDAY (12/27) at 10PM Eastern Time. If you have any specific questions about any of these items, please PM me and I'll get back to you ASAP. Support the BOI...happy bidding!

Aqua Clear 200

Recommended usage - 20-50gal tanks
Max Flow - 200gal per hour

I haven't used this is 6 or 7 years...but the second I plugged it in...this bad boy ran as if it was just used this morning. Great filter, in great condition...Smooth and quiet flow.

Starting bid - $5

Fluorescent 19" Single Tube Black Strip Light

Its almost all black except for the fact that it has a fake wood panel up front (a nice aesthetic touch, IMO) Its used, but it lights right up...Works great.

Starting bid - $5

I'm selling the following 6 items in bulk.

- Thermometer with an attachable suction cup to keep it mounted on your tank.
- 50watt water heater Radiant brand - It has a knob up top where you can regulate its output.
- 3 air pumps; 2 of them are airTechhh 2KO and 1 of them is a Penn-Plax Sea Pony.
- 1 "pump holder" - It has 2 arms which act as "hooks" that you rest on the rim of your tank. Then you place the air pump on its platform.

Again, all of the above are used, but they work great...no problems with any of them.

Starting bid - $5 (your bidding on all 6 items combined)

When bidding, please specify which of the three auctions your bidding for.

How about I'll start at $20 for the lot.

Virginia!!! YOU ARE MY HERO :D

I'm PMing you now with details...Thank you Mizz Bayer ;) By the way, your last name is very fitting...because you just saved me the headache of having a failed auction :) You truly are my wonder drug!

Hey, Nick!

If anyone is the REAL HERO here, it's YOU for doing all you can to support the BOI!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If there were more folks in cyberspace like you, there would be no question that the BOI would survive, but then again, if there were more folks out there like you, there would be no need for a BOI!

I am so inspired by your efforts that I will be sending you $25! That way it's like one more contributing member added to the BOI! WAY TO GO, NICK!!!!

Ok, folks, take Nick's lead and try to get more people to support the BOI!

Mizzzz Bayer ;) Thank you, but its ME who's following THEIR lead. A LOT of people have done A LOT of things to benefit the BOI, this site, and the community as a whole. I've been dragging my feet all these years, so the least I can do is put up some stuff that I don't use anyway :shrug01:

Its Virginia's lead that we should follow. As the only person who bid, she could have won all the items for $15, but she bid $20. Then after the auction was up, she threw in another $5!!! Later today there will be another auction here. So for those of you who'll be interested in that item, please use Virginia's kind gesture as an example and throw in an extra $5 or $10 if you can :D

Thanks again Virginia!!!
