• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

BOI sponsorships..

There are a couple of examples visible at the top of the BOI forum right now. I guess that is what you mean.... :shrug01: Any 120x60 banner design will work as long as it is in the format specified and not overly large in file size (using an animated GIF).

I get the size but what is the banner to be made for. As what picture/graphic are or text will be on it. Does Herald want one made from scratch for him as advertisement or what.

I got the vibe he wants one made up for something to attract people to something. Just wanted to know what kind of banner to see if i was able to help design/make it.

I'll PM you, Rich. Basically, the point was that I can't do a sponsorship banner without a banner.

I'm no pro, but I'm happy to do banners for anyone who needs one. Only to be used in a BOI sponsorship, of course. As an example, mine's up there flying.

Eight bucks a month, folks. Maybe not even that much. Do eet.

I'm in. I had a friend resize my banner and it's up.

I really believe in what the BOI stands for. It's the closest thing we have to creating "standard operating procedures" for dealing with our animals and deals. I like watching our own collective "moral majority" reign--almost every time.

Sorry it took me so long!

Reducing the price (even temporarily) for the sponsorship program sold me Rich; times are definitely tight, but I'm in now. It's not much, but I want to (and will continue to) do as much as I can to keep the BOI around. Thanks!!

Actually I think it looks pretty snazzy with those banner ads. I'm working with a guy to upgrade my current banner ad script to something new, so I may consider doing this sort of thing for all the forum sponsorships. Sure does beat the heck out of having a long list of text links.....

Thanks guys...

Maybe you should talk to your programmer about ways to adjust the upgraded banner script so that not everything gets blocked by AdBlock? Sadly, banner advertising isn't as fruitful for the advertisers as it once was with the creation of AdBlock (which I'm guilty of using).

Yes, AdBlock blocks all sorts of images. It doesn't go by the file type, it goes by the source of the image and what the image is named (for example, if the file is called "banner" it will block that). I also noticed that it will block certain sizes of images that are standard banner sizes now as well. For example, I have a client that I work with on a weekly basis doing sales websites...His 125x125 and 150x150 do not get blocked..But his 468x60 and 728x90 banners do...Even though they aren't named banner. Strange stuff.

Actually, I recall one or more threads on here a while back where a bunch of people were advocating using FireFox because it will block a lot of the ads here. It kind of aggravated me when I am trying hard to GET advertisers here, but what the heck, it is what it is. Probably some of those people are now singing a different tune when they are posting their own ads and wishing more people were able to see them. I guess a lot of people would rejoice to see internet advertising just end, but then be dismayed when many of the sites went away afterwards as a result. Life is just filled with compromises, isn't it?

I hear you. It's frustrating as a website owner, but is just as frustrating on the other end of things as a user. I think what happens is that some places abuse advertising on their sites (mySpace for example) and then other websites that aren't bad suffer for it.

For those that are using AdBlock and want to turn them on here on Fauna to help support Fauna and the advertisers, look for the little stop sign icon in the bottom right corner of your browser...Right click and then click "Disable FaunaClassifieds.com" and then all the pretty banners are available for you to see. :)

FYI I have AdBlock enabled here but I still see the jpg and gif banners in the top right corner and in the sidebar. The only ads I don't see are the Google AdSense ads and the Flash banners.
