In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID

With the US Global raid being done and over what is going to keep them from coming in our houses or the reptile shows and taking all our reptiles.. This has me very worried. are. :(

This is why I have said, stop letting people see your set up. If you sell out of your home either bring the animal for sale outside to them or drive with the animal or animals to a place that is convienent for you and your customer. If they come to your house, then they know where you keep your animals. If you drive to meet them, they really don't know where you keep your animals. Most potential customers have seen pictures of your animals for sale before hand.

Without quoting Brian, Eric and Rich, I agree with each of their posts. Go back and reread the article from the paper where they CLAIM that they have been spending $10,000 a day on these animals since their seizure. I would love to see a accounting for that kind of money and where it came from. NO ONE has come forward showing that these animals are any better off since they were seized, in fact, their location was soooo secretive supposedly. IF so for what reason? Why do others simply assume that because they were seized and it was claimed that they spent all that money on them, that all of this is true? Because it was posted in the paper? Give me a break. Just as peta claims to "help the poor kitty" to get donations then kills them in the back of a van and store them away in their $9,000. freezer till they can mass creamate them. Like it or not, apples to oranges, People want cheap and don't care what it takes to get it cheap. Go to any place petshop, reptile show and try to sell a iguana for the "reality cost" versus the "cheap real" cost and no one is going to pay the 50.00 it would cost for the iguana with all the vet care and special caging and all that is truly needed versus a imported 12.00 iguana. Just my two cents worth.

GA is also trying to do the same thing just it doesn't seem as harsh as that one I just read for Mississippi. In GA they want a 236.00 a year permit fee, insepction of your set up, 40,000 liability policy and all snakes over 2 inches microchipped. People wake up! There won't be a reptile to be worried about or to write in Fauna over if this keeps us. We need to stop fighting each other and work to stop such legislation where it pops up.

I've read Rich's post and yours. I can see why you and many others agree with the rationale. Everyone likes to make money and a lot of us would like to be rich.

However, I can't rationalize knowing that greed and selfishness is responsible for thousands of animals and babies dying (even my own greed and selfishness). I am content with the bloodlines we currently have. I do not see a need to continue bringing more animals if it is going to end up in mass inhumane slaughtering.

The kind of reasoning being revealed by some as "It's part of the business" has been used since the dawn of man to justify deaths from HUMAN to ANIMAL. I can't rationalize causing deaths that were preventable.:shrug01:

I disagree with that statement. This was a one-time tragedy. Imports are needed, fresh bloodlines are needed. If you are content with the animals/bloodlines you have, you will eventually produce mutant snakes with everything being so inbred.

RECIPE FOR DISATER

First you take a billion dollar industry and you make it as restrictive as possible to participate in it without Government restrictions

Then you make sure during that process that you divide those in that industry because their sheer numbers and possible unification could cause problems politically .

You involve some of the Animal Rights and Extremist groups to do the dirty work for you, since funding is very restrictive and most of the general public would not justify the tax revenue it would take to perform to the levels of satisfaction .

Next add new higher fees and more restrictions to the importation process .This will allow the Government to slowly cut off the numbers of animals it would need to police .

Next you go after the Private and Hobbyist breeder and owners and require them to go through such restrictive measures that most would rather give up there animals then fight the legal red tape involved .

Next,VISIT THE ZOO,BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WILL BE LEFT .

Oh,another one,"there" should have been "their",forgive me,when I get angry I can't operate my fingers too well, they want to group in one form and do something .My apologies .

I went away thinking this thread was pretty much over, and I saw that it has been drraagggeddd on out in further arguements among people who share the same hobby/interests. Sad to me that so many are really stubbornly adamant about thier opinions (read: closed minded).

This issue IS NOT about if US Global did wrong or right. NOT about if animals are over-personified to the point of people "feeling" that animals deserve some equity to humans. It is NOT about animal rights, animal vet bills, animals being treated before or after shipment, and certainly NOT an ethics committee about wild caught imports and captive bred non-natives (though many states now have laws ALREADY concerning NATIVE wildlife in captivity). This thread is way off topic in some ways.

This issue IS about what is and is not LEGAL, and how YOUR current rights that you have legally are now firmly set up to be REMOVED. YOUR FREEDOM to participate in the hobby of non-native, uncommon, non-cat/dog related hobby, may become an illegal hobby as organizations like PETA are (wittingly or not) thowing the hobby into the arms of US legislators who know nothing of the hobby, and rely on hearsay and celebrity to make decisions. Already importation issues, the USDA, USFW, and US Customs all fall under the blanket of the Homeland Security Act, which gives legislators alot (too much maybe) latitude to arbitrarily decide what YOU can do and not do to a further extent than ever before not only in the pet industry but within the confines of your own home when it comes to your pets- even IF you are doing what you believe is the right thing to do.

It is more important than EVER for everyone in this/these hobbies to just freakin' agree to disagree if at least for the time being and try to stop the over heated posts then (novel idea coming up here) SUGGEST A BETTER IDEA instead of being a total slacker and sitting at your PC typing out "I disagree" in so many words. The longer we sit here and disagree with one another, the faster the hobbies will get taken away. If you want to argue this or want to type out a disagreement of some sort, then stop right now and instead place an ad to sell off ALL of your pets- then find a new way to spend your time.

Put aside your differences and start to protect your rights to bear animals.

Ok, ok.
Peace to you all- sorry I piss people off but that's me.

Very well put Marcus and Matt as well. I just spent the weekend at Repticon Atlanta getting petitions signed in opposition to our S.303 here in GA. I will not sit idly by and watch my love be taken from me. JOIN US Ark, PIJAC, National Pet Association, SOMEWHERE and get your voices heard or we are all going to loose the hobby/business that we all love so dearly.

Exactly. That's why serious leopard gecko breeders are willing to pay big bucks for true wild caught animals or 1st generation from wild caught parents.

I did speak with Meleah Pierce today, she is the show promoter for the show in Arlington. She told me she IS worried about possible reprocussions at future shows in Arlington.

Let's hope that is not the case.

Like what? Did she say? Any further comment?

Like possible harassment by Animal Control, Peta, the usual suspects, that sorta thing.

Randal Berry

I think at this point in time all show promoters should be worried about that. I could go further in what I think is on the horizon but I won't just in case I and others are wrong, and if I am wrong, I wouln't want to give them any ideas. Keep in mind, these animal rights people are on a mission.

Reptiles are easy targets to start with because there are so many misconceptions and fears associated around reptiles. Peoples fears of big snakes taking over the USA, ignoring the facts just basing legislation on fear more than facts. That is why it is so important that we stop fighting our selves and focus our battle on the bigger picture before all we see is a mass seizing of our snakes, reptiles and such. We all have got to do our part and support the states that are in a battle for their ownership of their snakes. From the biggest to the smallest. Today the ban is on for the big snakes, its easy to play on the fear of the monster snake grabbing our dogs and kids and killing them. Tomorrow it will be the pythons, ( as stated in the proposed bill) even if its a ball python. I have not seen where they have specifcally stated any on the pythons, it appears its all pythons. Please correct me if I am wrong. So they slip that little bit in and Poof all pythons are gone. WE have got to rally ourselves for the bigger fight.
