Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have been looking for a page that has the dragon morphs. I was wondering what is co-dom, dom and recessive with these little guys. Any help would be great.
Gary

Thank you for the link. Does this mean everything else is just line breeding?
Gary

Well, when it comes to stuff like color lines, such as the different reds/yellows/oranges, it is just line breeding. But, I've read that certain tiger pattern morphs are dominant/co-dominant.

Also, I'm not sure about the pastel genetics. I'm not sure whether pastel is a recessive trait or not. I'm also not sure about Reduced scales and Micro-scales dragons either, those three things I really need to get some info on myself as well.

Also, there are some other things, like Bloodbank and their purple dragons, i'm not sure if the trait of being purple is limited to just translucents, or if a dragon could be purple without being translucent. And dragons den has some young dragons with striped tail patterns. I personally have one and I was told it is believed to be Co-dominant, but we'll see in the future i guess.

Also, I'm not sure about the pastel genetics. I'm not sure whether pastel is a recessive trait or not.

Pastels are a line bred color morph of the Hypomelanistic gene. They use the hypo trait to remove the dark coloration. Thus creating lighter appearance, and sometimes creating a more "pastel" looking dragon.

If someone has a dragon that proves out different, could you show me? As the pastel marketed dragons I have pass on the recessive hypo gene but the coloration (i.e. the pastel) does not. At least not in any certain manner like in ball pythons. I get mixtures of the coloration from both maternal and paternal genetics (line traits).

Well.. as far as your first paragraph.. would that make all lighter colored hypos a type of pastel, then? just wondering.

As far as my experience goes, Yes.

At least in a marketing view. Marketed leucistics would even be, in my opinion. Since they all carry the hypo gene, they have just been line bred to produce the varied coloration.

The pastel is a name that was given by their original breeder. It simply described the color patterning. A Georgia Peach dragon would be an example. It is truly just a het hypo or hypo dragon that was selected out for the lighter coloration. Almost like a step in the process to producing a marketed leucistic. Using light colored pastels could eventually (with selection for it) produce a marketed leucistic.

Hope this helps!

The pastel being just a lighter Hypo is what I have read as well. I would be really interested to find which tiger trait is genetic not line bred as I have a tiger. I am expecting a clutch of his babies in about 2 weeks. I am interested to see what comes out.

Very interesting thank you. This is exactly the kind of stuff that i was looking for. I am going to try to contact the guy I got him from and see if he knows the line. If it is dominant hopefully some of the babies will show it. I will definitely get pics out as soon as they hatch. Thanks for all the help and any other knowledge is greatly appreciated.

The purples are not proven to be co-dominant yet. We have the same animals producing them, but will see what exact genetics proves to breed them and if it will become a co-dominant or recessive gene....or either. :)
Purple is not limited to translucents, although more common. We have produced as well as Josh with Phantom Dragons, purple hypos and hypo italian leatherbacks.
Here are some examples....
