In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Thats what I was saying, they list the burmese, african rock retic on the pythons but on the boa's it just says boa's. It doesnt say larger boas or redtail boas so it means ANY boa even the small hogg island boas would be on that list of banned.

It lists the species boa constrictor which is the redtail boa. The others such as the hogg island are subspecies of this species but it would not ban snakes such as rubber boas because they are not of the species Boa Constrictor

The progress is, at least the last I have heard, the bill has passed committee and is to be voted on by the senate. Because of the current issues with health care the vote has been postponed and will probably not come to the floor until all of the more important things have been taken care of.

That is partly true. The bill does not need to even be considered if the USFWS adds the 9 constrictors to the Lacey Act which it has proposed to do March 12th. The following url talks about it, but more important are the links at the bottom of the page. One takes you to the actual rule proposal and the other to where you can make comments.

We only have 60 days to comment so it is time to get off our butts and get the fingers typing.

I just voted against it too. I dont know what they're thinking. Even if it does by chance pass (which is doubtful at this point considering there are only 4% who support it at this point) people are still going to find ways to own the snakes they love. This would just spur those who normally wouldnt own them to own them just because it would be illegal. Its the old thing about everybody wanting what they cant or shouldnt have. We'll see in any case.

I agree this Bill would totally mess with people's Lively Hood of Trading and Selling Reptiles. I have been breeding and selling Pythons for many years along with Bearded Dragons and we must fight this Bill all the way to the end. Get in them votes now people!!!

I doubt those numbers are accurate. The only people that are likely commenting or 'voting' on this right now are the people who own snakes like us, so of course they're going to oppose it. I'm sure there are other things being considered in the senate that I agree with right now, but I'm not out there doing everything I can to get people to support them. The vast majority of people in this country, whether they'd agree with the proposed bill or not, probably don't even know it exists so we're only seeing one side of the group in that 96% that oppose it.

I'm still nervous.

We all need to give USFWS our comments, and NOW! Forget about voting against the bill, that is meaningless at this point. If you belong to other groups post the dire need to take action now. Otherwise in about 50 days it will be too late, then we lay our fate in the hands of the USFWS, which I personally do not want to do. If nothing changes they will base their decision on that terrible study by the USGS that predicts the spread on large constrictors across half the United States.

Does anyone have a link to where I can read this report by the USGS? I haven't heard anything about this before now and would like to see what BS they are trying to feed the nation.

hasn't alrdy been proven that the snakes can't make it out of the state of florida let alone the southern part of florida . i mean the bill make no sense it just shows the gov doesn't give 2 craps about freedom .

heres something i found online its kinda funny the only deaths due to snakes are from venomous snakes

makes you wounder

and today at work and i was talking to the local human soiciety pres. and she was telling me that she finds the ban crazy and that she doesn't think its going to go completely thru.

i am sorry my spelling/ grammer is that of a 5th grader but i am just really aggrivated with the bill to me it goes along the lines of the patriot act .

i cant because im english, grrrrr. i would if i could!

Me too! Are we only able to vote on this issue if we reside in USA? I feel this is an international issue that could effect snake keepers world wide, no matter where we reside. As a hobbyist from across the pond I wish to say I am against this ban. Thanks all Jim Eaton.

even living in us we do not get to vote on it are fate is up to a few senators and reprisentitives, which is rediculas considering this country has some freedom as it fit into govermants agendas.
