In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

- How often do you feed an adult dragon insects?
- If using tiles or shelf liner, what do you immediately spray/wipe it with to disinfect the germs after it's been pooped on?
- What temperature is it supposed to be inside an egg incubator?
- What humidity percentage is it supposed to be inside an egg incubator?

I know what I do - I'm just curious to see what everyone else does... Thank you for your help! :)

As long as the adult is of good weight, feed 5-6 superworms,or 7-8 large crix, some feed a large hornworm,or a combo. My dragons all eat greens twice daily. I disinfect with diluted red wine vinegar and ad very small amount of dish-liquid[optional]. The danger of rinsing with bleach is that it is TOTALLY toxic to your animals[if you leave any residue] Vineger is 100 times stronger but a slight residue will not cause harm [ even though you don't want any residue ideally because it's still an irritant smell+ tastewise]...bleach residue can be deadly.Incubation temps. around 82-86....humidity HIGH

Really Angie, does the red wine vinegar do the job???? Just curious, i like it, if so.

AHHH you feed greens twice daily!!! i was thinking the insect count was low for feeding adults, but then i read that you feed greens twice a day. Not a bad idea i like that too. but i dont think my dragons would like that very much. Lol. i feed them various insects and multi. different amounts of can foods. I.E. can o pillars, can o worms, can o grasshoppers, can o snails. It was hard to get these guys to eat canned food that didnt move. But once they started feeding on them they havent stopped. i think sometimes they prefer the canned foods to the live insects.
Angie's on with the temps. i like a lower temp seems like there are more females in the clutch. my helix is set at 84.I have a BIG incubator it can hold 1000 eggs give or take, Seriously. so the overall temp seems to be just alittle lower than the helix is set. i dont need any humidity in the incubator at all. i do have it, but i dont need it. i have all the humidity in the bins that are in the incubator! I LOVE my incubator.:yesnod:

Hi Angie and Tom - thanks for your feedback! You both forgot to answer Question #1 correctly though - ha ha. The question was: "How often" do you feed insects, not "what quantities or types of insects". Is it everyday, 1, 2, or 3 x's a week, etc.?

Actually i was just going off Angie's post.

I feed greens in the morning, 1 round of insects around noon, then a round of can foods, and then insects a few hours before there lights go out. Everyday is different. An there appetite and interest in there food is what determines how much i feed them. Believe it or not even after feeding what i do, i could probly feed them alittle more. There always hungry. ALWAYS!

Yes,the adults are all different, too. I feed young and pre-breeding[ and especially breeding] females as much as they want. The superworms and crickets are generally every day,and those are the large size, not medium or small. If I skip a day, which is no problem with adult dragons, they will get a much larger portion the following day. Greens are every day because they aid in hydration and keep the digestive system moving properly.

Hi Guys and Gals,
All the above ideas are great, and a dragon should be so lucky to have a great home! hehe! I'm "trying" to go a bit more green, in my lifestyle, trying to reduce the footprint, I leave on the planet. (Not easy when most green brands of items are more expensive!) But watch for those sales and stock up! And not only will you reduce your footprint, but you are eliminating cancer causing toxins in your home. So instead of regular cleaning items (not mentioned in others suggestions), I look for natural non-toxic cleaners that have the green emblem on them. Those work great on large enclosures that are hard to move. They often have a citrus smell but still rinse with water.

Concerning feeding adults, I've heard cutting down their intake of bugs after their 2nd-3rd year, when they've reached full size to about 3 times a week and upping their fresh greens and veggies daily, will make them live longer. If it's breeding season and you want to breed that pair, feed them extra a few months ahead to get the necessary fat stored.
Feeding meats can be hard on the system in older years and it may be lengthen their lives if you can successfully get them eating their greens and veggies daily instead.
Every lizard is an individual so it's hard to say what amount, but don't change your diet drastically because he's used to it, but a little over time.

- My adults get insects every day but in small quantities and my primary feeder are Turkestan roaches

- I use lemon juice and water to quickly disinfect and wipe it up with a paper towel. Then once a week I steam clean my tiles.

- I kept my eggs around 82 to 84 degrees in the incubator.

- My humidity was roughly 70% in the incubator itself and around mid to high 90s in the containers.
