• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

full name needed for Classifieds now?

I thought I read a post a month or so ago that stated a full name was now required to post in the classifieds. Am I correct on this or am I imagining it.
 
You both are NOT imagining it. Matter of fact, I believe there is an announcement posted in the classifieds sections proclaiming this fact.

I am also requiring valid locations in the profile as well. The reason for this is because I strongly encourage anyone considering doing business with someone on this site whereby either the name or location, or both, do not match what is in their profile to be extremely leery of engaging in a business transaction with that individual. There has to be a reason for that information not matching, and I can't think of any good reason. That includes someone registered here that claims the purchase is for their "cousin" in Albuquerque, or the seller wants you to make the payment out to their uncle.

This is all just a further effort to try to help people to keep from getting scammed. And as a matter of fact, I now block registrations from people who do not provide valid information in those fields. Yes, I know I have no way to verify the actual name they will use, but at least with a name, someone has something to compare against when they are considering a sale or purchase.
 
David... click on the "report post" icon on their post here. You can then type in your information and it will go to the staff. Id put links in there so they can track it down if they so choose.

Yes, just use the REPORT A POST function, and provide some evidence so we have facts we can act on.
 
The procedure will be that if there is credible doubt about someone's true identity being used on this site, then they will be sent an email concerning this issue and banned until they can provide proof to myself or one of the mods concerning their real identity. It will be entirely up to the mod receiving such information as to whether or not that proof being provided will be sufficient to lift the ban.
