Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I really did not see it as abuse, in my reasoning, when one breaks the law (serious offense) when the law catches up with him it's not viewed as "going back".........oh shucks! I forgot about the Statue of Limitations!:eek:

*that's why I put this theoretical but possible situation as a way of negating Ed's ability to leave any damage when he retaliates with neg karma out here BEFORE acting on it when Ed came back :) and getting in trouble. lol
 
I was just saying, use it responsibly, and it might stick around this time. Don't expend your energy going back to "find" things to zap him with, because that's just as childish as the majority of his posts are.

Ed has always provided plenty of opportunity to get Neg'd for his posts. I'm sure this little time out won't change that at all. :thumbsup:

Wasn't exactly saying you're being childish. That would sound more like, "you're being childish". :D

The act of searching out someones posts to neg them is very childish though. Again, a general statement, not directed at any particular person, but to ALL who might be thinking of doing such a thing.

The problem about neg Karma is it becomes a True tit for tat with most people not all but a good Majority it sadly is a reaction or Instinct to strike back at people who disagree with your reasoning.I like Richs method of dealing with the childish ones who will abuse this and I did say will because people are gonna hang them selves with this button,and pardon the phrase Rich (Rich will be the Execusioner)
 
I've had a few retaliatory negs since I been here. But I just never seen what the hubbub is, about a little red dot. Certainly not worth harassing the mods about, or starting a pitiful whiner thread. :rolleyes:

But that little red dot sure does get some's attention like it's designed to do. :thumbsup:
 
I really think the karma system is great when its used for what it is intended to be used for. I enjoy giving karma to people I think who posted something of value to this site. There are people I would love to give karma to that I havent because sometimes it can be rare that they post so I have to search back into their older posts to do so. Sometimes the rarer posters make some invaluable points as well.

This brings up a good point. There's always accusations and stuff being flung around. The BOI is meant as a tool to look through and gather information, to allow the reader to make up his/her own mind.

I'll read others opinions, but if they don't fit the actual person good or bad I'll discard them as I hope others would do as well.

Actually, the automatic point system has booted Ed for one year. Should serve as a warning to all that those three day bans and little infraction points add up.

I'm going to guess that his has become the thread to ask a question about negative rep points so.....

With the talk of retaliatory hits and when it's not OK to use it, is there somewhere that has a little write up on when you could get in trouble for using it?

With karma I tend to forget it's there except when I come across a post that is either so good or so bad that it reminds me it's there. So I'm not sure that abuse of the negative will be a problem I come across but I'd like to be sure when I can and can't use it.

The sad truth is I think the Karma gets more attention that the BOI with a lot of people looking to purchase. I know it's hard for me not to notice those big red dots under someones name when I'm looking at adds...:shrug01:
