• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Just got this from SYR

No offence, but this is not on SYR's web site. You have posted a Google screen shot. Where does it say on SYR's web site that you can ship snakes?

But this is.....

This is the source code for SYR's website... and guess what.... google didnt pull that text out of thin air.... it was programed into their source code.

Yes, it is for google to display that it would have to be listed as a meta tag within the source HTML of shipyourreptiles.com.

SYR2.jpg

Scott... ya beat me to it... nice to know Im not the only web designer on here that understands how HTML works and what to look for.

Brian... someone from SYR's had to code this site... or paid to have it coded. THEY put the meta tags in the header... not a search engine. That alone is enough for me to believe they are suggesting you ship snake via their service.

It is not my fault that some dont have the knowledge to read or use web coding.... there are alot of things I dont possess the knowledge for... but that doesnt mean that it isnt any less real because I cant do it.

They put that in their coding.... therefore they are saying you can ship snakes.

It doesn't if you come to the site though a search engine to ship your snake it pops up first on the list and even says we ship them "securely and affordable", they sell you a snake shipping kit, they show a how to video using a snake to demonstrate but no where does it say they ship snakes except in the meta tags which someone from SYR had to put on there because Google and the rest of the search engines don't write sites tags they just read and display them.

I would also like to point out the site does not say they ship lizards, monitors, geckos, frogs, turtles, ect except in those meta tags but we are not questioning whether or not they ship those. We are questioning why if they have stopped shipping snakes even for a short time why have they not put a notice on the website stating as much. IMO it seems they want to say we warned you not to ship but you did..oh did you not get the email or read any of the forums we're sorry but you are just SOL. just so it will be business as usual because I would think a majority of their business is the shipping of snakes because aside from the discount that is the only thing they have going for them because every Joe with an account can ship almost everything else.

I colored coded your quote with my responces.

Why would we question the other reptiles, UPS allows them to be shipped, and even states that on their web site.

I don't believe they can be sued over imbedded html that is designed for a search engine. It is the search engine's site that is saying they ship snakes, not SYR's site.

Anyone can sell you a snake shipping kit, it's what you do with it that is in question here.

They will say just that, it was for demonstration purposes, not actual representaion of allowed shipments.

I consider that misleading.

They are just trying to cover their own butts. This way if a shipment gets confiscated, they don't have to do anything for the shipper.

The way I see it is pretty simple in a way, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Robyn was viewing this thread and even posted in it. It wasn't what we wanted to hear. So how hard would it have been to say, yes we are allowed to ship snakes? What harm would there be if he made that statement, if it were true? Now if that statement was not true then I can see why he would not want to say that openly in a public forum. But really, to say yes we can, come on, how hard would it be to say that?

Think about it.

It is the search engine's site that is saying they ship snakes, not SYR's site.

YOU ARE WRONG.... it is SYR's site. The source code has nothing to do with google... msn.... yahoo.... it is all programed into SYR's site. You (as in the programmer) is the one that tells the source code what to say... not some search engine.

It doesnt matter what search engine you pull my site up from... the source will always say the same thing... because I programmed it... not some search engine.

With a flagged account, and no mention of the not shipping snakes for now on their site, UPS is probably looking extra hard at boxes with their name on them. If they find snakes, guess what happens? They don't send them where they're going, and you have to go get them wherever they may be. Headache city. My beef at this point is why there is zero mention of this stop on their site. They are, at the moment, wide open for unsuspecting customers.

How angry would any of us be if we managed to miss that email, hadn't had time in the last couple days to check the forums, and have an expensive animal or two confiscated enroute early next week too far for us to go pick them up? I understand they will probably update us when they know more, but why on earth is that portal still open? Oh yeah, so we can still ship lizards.

Embedded html, xhtml, java script, or whatever is put there by the programmer, yes, and it can be anything. A programmer can write in anything into the coding, but that doesn't mean it will show up on the web site for all to see. The word used in the html coding you guys keep posting is DESCRIPTION, not heading, or body, or some other word that will make that particular phrase physically appear on the screen when you navigate through the web site. So the coding you keep refering to is hidden from view. I don't see how that says that they can ship snakes legally.

SYR's put that header info in there so it will show up whenever you do a search for reptile shipping.

Just like I put
Welcome to RidgeTop Reptiles, we specialize in only one thing... Quality! Quality comes first in everything we do, whether its our Reptiles or our customer service.

Its what I wanted people to see when they do a search for my company.

By SYR's putting that info in their header meta tags... they ARE saying they ship snakes. Period... end of story. That is what will show up when you search for them. They are advertising that they ship snakes via those meta tags. They may not have it directly in the contents of thier webpages.... but it is on the top of EVERY webpage they have in the form of the header tags.

since you obviously dont know anything about coding... might not want to talk coding.

Scroll up and look at line number 3

<head>

That is the beginning tag for the header section of the page... if you scroll down... you will see </head> which closes the header section.

I agree that the actuall line of source code is the description... but its all in the header of the page. Thus the reason we are referencing the header.

Alright, but are they saying they ship snakes legally?

That is what we are tying to find out.... did they have authorization to ship snakes.... but your going off on... they dont have it on their site... when in fact they do.

Maybe the general public doesnt know how to see it.... but its there. You cant dispute that.

Ok, folks--they did have authorization to ship snakes. That is why they told people to STOP SHIPPING SNAKES TEMPORARILY, while they try to resolve the problem.
I hope that they can.

Brown box, no air holes, overnight UPS. Thats been the game we played for the last 20 years. Pack it properly and there should not be any problems. No more problems than people have been having using FedEx, SYR or Delta all these years anyway. Its a numbers game and the odds are way in your favor. If you are uncomfortable with being loose with the facts, vague or slightly creative then don't get involved and get FedEx certified. Plain and simple. Until then many will continue to play the game like this news never came about.

It may be there by your definition, but most would say it is misleading.

This is a direct quote right off of SYR's web site.

You must also follow all UPS rules and restrictions. For more details, see these sections of the UPS site:

Donna... if they had authorization... then why all the cloak and dagger stuff with shipping packages.

Oh yeah... I know.... because UPS wont tell UPS its ok. Why in the world would you agree to this (if in fact this is the case)... because PE and SYR's is putting their rep on the line. With the cloak and dagger stuff... it really looks shady at best... or some backroom deal and trying to fly under the radar at worst.

Either way... not good for their rep.

And why not put on the website somewhere... you cant currently ship snakes. It would take all of 5 mins to code that in on a page.

If this is true, Robyn could have said so, and this wouldn't be continuing. He was here and has seen this thread. It would have taken him very little effort to post that. I don't think he could post it, because it isn't true.
