My name is on the complaint I filed with the IC3. I am very interested in hearing if there are supposed extenuating circumstances I am not at this time aware of. I did not know some "Private chat" was being conducted but now that I am aware of it I would appreciate some consideration of my interest in this. I understand why it may take some time to get everyones ducks in a row before allowing the transcripts for public reading.....

But it will be put forth for us to read? In a reasonable time frame? Correct?

I have no idea what has transpired today. I was invited to the party. I had no idea that we were giving them a platform to state anything off the BOI. So, I probably should hold my tongue, errr fingers until I know more.
But I'm comfortable stating my personnel opinion would be to disagree with this

It was held private so we could hear what she had to say without people attacking her or making comments that were of no use. She stated that she would leave if it happened so this is why it was handled the way it was. At least some form of communication has been open.

Just based on the above post not knowing what transpired as fact, I will state that I'm not in favor of giving anyone a private platform to discuss their BOI thread without redress from the members. I could care less what they have to state unless, it is that their sending the funds they admitted to stealing back. To give these two the opportunity to make accusations against other members and make them feel "comfy" that they will not be attacked isn't something that I would be in favor of.

My personal opinion would be the same.

and anybody that would believe it because it came from Christina Wise would be an idiot.

Don't have time to catch up on everybody's griping, and I don't think the events of this afternoon should be allowed to further disrupt this thread. Chris, I would imagine that Christina called the shots as to who would be allowed there. She most likely wanted people who would listen to her and not get defensive. As for it being allowed, I am sure its just more people wanting to see some resolve in this particular matter. Its the same thing as what everyone else has been doing by emailing them, calling them, etc...

Dont get me wrong though, I dont necessarily agree with her being able to address what she addressed without the people she was referring to (me) being invited to the party. I dont know if anyone else was mentioned so I can only speak on my behalf regarding that.

What she is doing is taking the community members' seeds of doubt and using them against us.
I think we should take a lesson learned from this and keep arguements and squabbles out of this thread and unite for the common goal, we all share, of justice.

Just for the record here, the chat system is a third party mod that my programmer installed. There is no way through vbulletin to block someone from accessing it unless they are totally banned from the site. If they can access even one forum, then they can have access to the chat system.

I understand that nobody can keep her from chatting if there is no moderator in the chat at the time. However, Harald did ban me during the session and I was still able see the forums, just banned from chat temporarily.

Why was there a private chat? Why was the alleged CRIMINAL allowed to defend herself, off the record? Why was she calling the shots? This seems to go against EVERYTHING Fauna stands for--permanency, and transparency.

This isn't a situation that can be smoothed over by an "oops, my bad!" any more. Why are we even listening to what she has to say? As far as I'm concerned, she can defend herself against public, legal accusations against her, within the bounds of the legal proceedings piling up against her. If it goes to trial, or arrests? Christina isnt as dumb as she looks, it seems. She knows she doesnt want anything she has to say be permanent, hence a chat. She wouldnt be held as accountable for what she would say in chat versus in a thread that she cannot edit, delete, or deny.

I think something needs to be understood, especially by those who actually have no idea how the chat program here works.

There have been several statements asking why this was allowed to occur so maybe this will clarify how the chat works for those who have never used it but are now apparently upset that this private conversation happened.

As Rich stated, the chat program is a separate mod, it is not part of the forum software directly. If a user has access to the forums in any capacity, they can access the chat room.
Once in the chat room there's several options that can be used. One of these options is to create a private room if you want one. Anyone can create a private room, and even password it if they wish. The room will exist as long as there is someone in it.
None of this is anything that is either allowed or disallowed by the site, it's just part of the chat software.

The private chat was initiated by the user who created the room. It was in no way facilitated, encouraged, condoned, or initiated by the site.
So lets not continue to make it out to appear that this site in some way allowed the Wises some sort of private platform to speak from.

The only way to ban them from the chat room would be to ban them from the entire site. That would only hand them the excuse that they couldn't defend or explain themselves because they weren't allowed to.

I would also add that entire chat sessions can be saved easily, if someone present thinks to do so. It's not entirely temporary, just not automatically permanent.

Did anyone who talked to her, or was invited, say "No, I'm not playing this game, defend yourself on the site, or in a court of law, none of this cloak and dagger junk"? She can make all the rooms she want, it doesn't mean we have to engage her.

And it doesn't mean kicking of users she doesn't hand-pick has to be allowed. Again, saying "we're not playing the picking favorites game, discuss this in a room where everyone is allowed, or not at all" has nothing to do with the software.

This has everything to do with, not the technical capabilities of the program, but LETTING *her* set the rules and play the game the way she wants it. She should not get to call the shots. She said "dance", and we danced. And that's not right.

Its because everyones heart is in the right place. We ALL want this situation to resolve. To tell you the truth, if I felt like maybe I could have solved the situation by going into a private chat with them, I would do it as well. Wouldnt we all do it for the sake of the two families involved?

Now, me being the way that I am, I would not have listened to her bull and only focused on the problem at hand. But, I would have to admit that I would have given her the stadium she needed if I felt it would solve the problem.

Once I accessed the chat room (the password was "wise"), I shared that with others. I was banned while Christina was allowed to share screen shots and files. Now those files aren't being shared here. I was able to access the whole site during my ban, but could not log into the chat area for at least an hour.

It just seems like... giving them a free pass at this point. Would the community really accept a situation where if they give back the money, all charges are dropped? Because that's what this behind-most-people's-backs, trying-to-resolve-it-in-private discussion comes across as. Maybe it's not, maybe it wasn't. But since most of us never saw a word of it? We have no idea what's true.

We all want the money to go to its intended recipients. Of course we do. That's without question.

But the Wises shouldn't get a "get out of jail free" card, either, IF they do "the right thing" under duress at this point. They still need to face the charges brought against them and whatever punishment a court of law may impose on them. Getting caught and "having" to give back one's stolen goods doesn't make one any less guilty.

In my mind, personally, this isn't over until the funds are restored AND the Wises have faced legal action for their crimes.

It just feels... wrong... to try to resolve it in a consequence-less way for the Wises at this point.

Oddly enough, the people that I personally know that were in the private chat (3) only one of them I know was involved in any of the auctions by either winning or donating. Again, I was not invited even though my name was brought up, and have not seen anything regarding the private chat.

I have a personal stake in this case being that I donated money, an animal, and now my name is being thrown into the mix a little bit. I doubt I would let it go at this point. I would just want the evidence if it supported a legitimate lawsuit against them for my sake.

A lot of us have filed complaints with the proper authorities. Justice takes time as they need to build their case. I personally havent heard anyhting from IC3 or my local police but I know that they are on it. Its nice when the next door neighbor is a Lt for the local police dept.
