Confusing Female...

If she's still soaking and preferring the cool side of her enclosure, I'd say she hasn't ovulated yet. After they ovulate, they usually stay coiled on the warm end all the time. She looks like she's definitely getting close (if she hasn't already). :)

We have the same problem. We got a big normal female from a local person that just had her as a pet. When she came to us she was 1,640g. And well now she is 2500+g. She is a living trash can. But she locked up with our butter male many times. She has showed all the signs but has yet to lay. Oh yeah and she just keeps eating like crazy. We are so lost on her. So trust me I know were you are coming from. I'm really looking forward to getting some more butters but not sure when it is going to happen. Best of luck with her!

Thanks :) Yea I'm pretty confident she will ovulate in the next few days, and I'm kinda happy she is just now having it because it would've sucked to miss it like I thought :) Of course the wait sucks, but still I think it could be worth it!

They can drive you crazy can't they? Good luck with your girl too, and thanks :)

Well, this way if she's building up to her ovulation now and she's receptive to your mojave you've got a pretty good chance for some mojo babies. ;)

So far everyone is thinkin' mojos :) I hope! I can't get my hopes up though, just in case :p I will be happy as long as the babies are healthy though.

She really drives me crazy. With her weight gain I can't really tell with her. We got her in Feb. this year and was 1,640g and now is 2500+g. I don't know her age or anything. She had what I think is her pre lay shed on 5/26/10 so maybe I will have some eggs here soon. But we will see.

Everything I've ever read about fertilization seems to suggest that whatever sperm is readily available at the time of ovulation. If she's been copulating with the mojave now and looks like she's on the verge of ovulation then..... :D

That was supposed to read:

Everything I've ever read about fertilization seems to suggest that whatever sperm is readily available at the time of ovulation is most likely to be used. If she's been copulating with the mojave now and looks like she's on the verge of ovulation then..... :D

That last pic you posted of her copulating with the mojave: that looks like an ovulation to me. She is extremely swollen, but the bulge drops off sharply at the tail. If she's breeding with the mojave at ovulation, most likely that pairing won't get the mojo sperm to the eggs--it takes a bit for them to migrate where they need to be. But if she's locked with the mojo before that (and if I understood you correctly, she has), then you have a chance at some mojo babies. ;)

That's awesome... She bred with Randal not long ago, but the mojave has been with her 3 times since then... So I'm hoping his sperm is used :) On atleast part of the clutch, haha.

I thought it was an ovulation too - I guess it still could possibly be, but a few hours after the picture they separated and I looked at her underside to see if she has the crease down her tail scales (I've heard it's a tell-tale sign of an ovulation) and there was no crease, so I'm thinking she hasn't yet. I just went over and picked her up, and the swell looks even bigger now. I took some pics, I'll attach them now. I think she's going to have a BIG ovulation.
