In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a monster of a Snapping Turtle for sale. A real Dinosaur. Weighing in at 35 lbs. Massive head. Un sexed. LTC. I got this brute off of a man that didnt have room for it anymore. Its not in perfect condition. When it was a baby the man said. But other than that it is a good turtle. Aggressive as hell, but still good.

I am asking $50.00 for this thing. Breeding size regardless. Eats good and free of parasites as far as I know.

Christina Davis

Pictures coming soon!

This is basically what she looks.

I actually weighed my turtle and it is 47 lbs. Very big turtle.

So, you never got any actual pictures of the turtle to indicate that she actually possessed the animal?

Laws of the state of NY claim that native species to your state cannot be kept as pets.
Just giving you a heads up. If he wants to sell it to you, and you want to take the risk, it's none of my business.

I don't know if it's against the law or not, I admit that I didn't look it up. However, it appears to me that if you had been a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, you would not now be in this predicament.

Should she give you your money back? CERTAINLY...but you did ignore all the warning signs. :reddevil:

i,know i never got a pic of the actuall turtle.i just trusted her word.ive had big commons before and they all look like dinosaurs to me,lol.but you right i should have gotten a exact picture of the snapper for sale.
i believe the law here in NY is that the snapper cant originally be from NY state.this was from GEORGIA,so i believe its legal.just like florida snappers or alligator snappers.so yes i am LAW ABIDING CITIZEN!
im just trying to get my money back.you are right though i was to anxious and excited to get the turle,i should have done more homework.

Not true, Alligator Snapping Turtles are protected at a higher level also.
go here:

You MUST have a permit to possess these turtles, and from what I understand, they are hard to get.

Known scammer.
J.J. Price was the name listed on the former account, which was coincidentally bakcountry09. The REAL name of the person is Dustin (D.A.) Draper (if anybody bothers to google it, let's not make an issue of his "extracurricular activities"...it will just make for an ugly situation & probably a handful of infractions before somebody ends up getting themselves banned)

Unfortunately, you made a big mistake in sending money when the name didn't match the name of the account - THAT is specifically the reason that full names are required in the classifieds.

Feel free to respond using your georgiaherper account, Dustin...make sure your correct name is in your posts though, or they will be removed.

ive been on fauna since 2004,and ive had numerous transactions that were great.i never been scammed before and i guess i trusted to much.as it looks now i guess im screwed.anybody know how i can go about bringing criminal charges against this person?i dont want any other members to get screwed like i did.

Well, sending a money-gram probably leaves you with zero recourse...
Try the police in Stockbridge or Conyers, GA...I'd be surprised if they weren't familiar with the name Dustin Draper.

I don't know the process - anybody know if he should start with his local police dept?

I'm still not clear whether the snapper he wanted to buy was legal for him to have. Randal said something about alligator snappers, what kind was the op buying? If not legal, he isn't going to get much help from the police dep't.

Im a little bit confused, the animal from that thread is a common snapping turtle, NOT an alligator snapping turtle... Im not sure that has much relivance to the situation but even in this BOI people are calling it an Alligator snapper, when it isnt...

sorry if its irrelivant

I agree, however, it seems that it has been established that it is not an Alligator Snapper?

To tell the truth, I wouldn't know one from another, so do not want to put my foot tooo far into my mouth.

The reason alligator snappers have been mentioned in this thread is that the OP stated he believes it is legal for him to purchase a common snapping turtle despite the prohibition pointed out in the ad (I'm not sure, offhand, if the regulation cites native wildlife or native species - which is probably the deciding factor in whether he was making a legal purchase). In his statement about following the law, he compared purchasing the turtle in question to purchasing an alligator snapper....so the regulation regarding alligator snappers was posted.
I hope that eliminates some confusion.

Lucille did make a very good point - getting legal support after getting scammed on an illegal purchase presents an interesting problem...one that most people would probably try to avoid.

HI,the turtle i was purchasing in the ad was a Common Snapper.i only used the alligator snapper reference to show the legality of lawful ownership.the turtle in the ad was not from the state of NY where i live,so i believe it is legal for me to own.i purchase alligator snappers, common snappers and florida snappers from JOHN RICHARDS of Loggerhead turtle farm and never needed any paperwork.he is a authority on snappers and i believe him when he says they are legal for me to own in NY.i would never intentionaly own something illegal.i had a very large common snapper that passed away 2 years ago.i had owned him since i was 15 years old and when i saw the christina davis sale ad for a big common i jumped at purchasing the turtle.i guess i missed my old guy too much and did not do enough research on the seller.
i hope no other fauna members get scammed,i really sucks.

Thank you Harold, that is why I included Alligator Snappers in my post.

When it comes to something I am doing, I wouldn't take the word of a seller that isn't in the same state. I have nothing against John, and I purchased from him many years ago....but State laws change. I would advise you to find out if the restriction is against native species, or native wildlife - if it is native wildlife, one could certainly argue that purchasing from out of State is a different matter; but if it is native species, you're SOL.

Jason, Rockdale County Sheriff's Department already has a record of Dustin Allen Draper, albeit 8 months old.

To what address did you send the $?
