In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Male Florida Kingsnake.
That's a very nice snake. I just added to my collection - '01 male florida "brooksi" king. How old is yours and how big?

Thanks Matt,
I purchased him in December 2000 and the dealer said he was 1.5 yrs old then. I measured him last month at 66 inches using SerpWidgets (that program that uses a digital photo with an object of known length in the picture with your snake).
He's my first kingsnake and my favorite. I bought a female from Glades Herps to pair him up with but she is still so small I'm afraid to put her with him (measured her at 48 inches). She's three years old.
What do you think; too much of a size difference?

Well, I'll be breeding my two kings for the first time this spring. But, I understand and share your concerns when breeding our species of king - they love to EAT!!! So we have to be carefull. Here's the tips I've heard from experienced breeders: The male is usually the one that is most sure to want to breed, and it is important that he is bigger! So that is good. Second, introduce them after the female sheds first after brumation if possible. Most often her urge to mate is highest then and it will also spark the male's urge. More often than not, if one snake tries to make lunch of the other, it is the female because the male is busy wanting to breed; hence the reason why the male should be bigger if given the choice.

I think you will be fine with your pair. Your three year old female is plenty big at four feet and should be able to handle herself. My female is about 50" and she is 7 years old. When I introduce them, it is her that I am so worried about because she is so incredibly quick and has an appetite that is incredible even for a kingsnake. They will be under constant supervision when they're together. Good luck! Keep in touch here.
