So, I was thinking...

Here are the facts - I think the basic idea will become obvious as I outline them:
1) The new house has a 15x30 ft above ground pool
2) I have to put chlorine in the pool, and I'm supposed to "shock" it weekly by essentially superchlorinating it.
3) I have lots of water bowls that need regular cleaning

SOOOOOOOOO, doesn't it make sense to gather up the waterbowls, throw them in the pool, add the chlorine, flip on the pump, and go about my morning's business? Then, I could come home & jump in the pool, gather up the bowls, and lay them out on the deck to dry in the sun. (If I'm not in the mood to play in the pool for whatever reason, I could always put the bowls in mesh bags so they could be easily hauled over to the deck.)
After that, it's a simple matter to redistribute them

On the surface, that sounds like a very efficient idea.

Just keep in mind, when they dry the chemicals are left behind on the surface. I'd rinse them off after they dry.

Sorry if I may not be catching any sarcasm, but it does sound like an efficient solution.

Probably a good way to clean the bowls, but let me ask you this. Are you intending to SWIM in that pool afterwards?

Hubby shot down my idea of turning a pool into a koi pond. I was like wth you can still swim in it if you want.

Bowel movements (that may be stuck to the bowls) and swimming in that mixture is hazardous to one's health.

well, technically, the chlorine will kill the germs and bacteria if the levels are kept up, especially on the shock days when the chlorine is super high. But above ground pools are a real pain in the butt to keep clean. It may be more work in the long run.

I wasn't actually going to do it - but it's fun to think about. And even more fun to see how people react.
About the concerns mentioned.
- Any solid waste would decrease the efficiency/effectiveness of disinfection, so naturally it would be removed or "precleaned" before the bowls got dunked.
- I'm a freak about rinsing - I overdue the rinse when I clean/disinfect now, I'm sure I'd be nailing them with the hose as soon as they came out of the pool, THEN letting them dry (UV radiation kills a lot of the bugs, too...sometimes more effectively than bleach)
- I don't use the pool much anyway...but I probably wouldn't be exposed to anything that I don't already have, lol. I've been keeping reptiles seriously for just over 20 yrs.
