In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Good: The dragon appears unharmed, time will tell if there are internal injuries, but she seems okay for now. The dragon was advertised correctly, and I received exactly what I expected to get. She appears to have good body tone with no deformities or diseases.

Bad: The dragon was loose in the box with just a few scraps of paper. One of the sides of foam insulation was cut small and fell to the other side of the box during transport. There was no top insulation. There was no padding to help prevent the dragon from being thrown around in the box.

The first picture is exactly what I saw when I first opened the box. I am unsure if this was the seller's first time shipping. When I texted him about it, he didn't seem to understand that the way he shipped her is not normal or acceptable.

Lovely dragon; I'm glad she appears unharmed. However, if that photo represents standard shipping practices by Inked Dragons, I would never take a chance ordering.

His responses to your valid concerns seem a little flippant. Hopefully in the future he will take more responsibility for an animal's welfare and learn how to properly package.

How much did you pay shipped for the Dragon? And... Did you take the time to educate him on proper shipping/packing practices? I'm curious.

That's not the OP'S responsibility. The shipper should have at least know not to ship the animal loose inside the box, amongst other things. I have no idea how fragile a Bearded is, so im glad it arrived safe. OP, Have you notified the seller about this thread?

Seller has not been notified of this thread. That is usually done for "bad guy" threads, not "info" threads. But someone else is free to do so if they wish. He was made aware of my concerns with his shipping methods, but I did not press the issue. Whatever changes he chooses to make are up to him.

The dragon is still doing well, and does not appear to have received any damage from being shipped loose in the box, thankfully. :)

Sorry, but it does not matter what she paid for the dragon. He advertised, she paid. His shipping is substandard. You would not agree?

Yes, Sarah purchased a gorgeous dragon, as advertised ... and thankfully, at least for now the dragon appears unharmed. She did express her concerns about his shipping methods. The seller was obviously less concerned and wanted to transfer blame to the box being tossed around.

It's quite obvious the seller/shipper needs to be educated on how to properly ship, but it is NOT his customer base that needs to do so. It ain't rocket science, duh.

This is sad, seems like common sense when it comes to shipping is not that common anymore.

Another example of a box that would fail Fedex requirement for certification.

The seller seems to think it's fedex's fault that his box fell apart. His response "BEEN A PLEASURE DOING BUSINESS" makes it sound like, if something was wrong it doesn't matter. Did you leave a review like he asked.

She's gorgeous! So glad to hear she's doing good, especially after that shoddy packing job.

Why should it matter how much she paid for the dragon, including shipping? How does that have any bearing on the packing job? She purchased an animal from someone, who then shipped it to her. It is not anyone's business how much she paid for the animal, including shipping; especially when the shipper sounds like he is trying to pass the buck off to Fedex for "damaging" the package instead of taking responsibility for the crap packing job.

Also, if the seller is in the habit to sell and ship animals, then he should have taken the time to properly educate HIMSELF on proper shipping & packing practices. The purchaser of the animal should not have to educate the seller on proper shipping/packing practices.

If this animal had been purchased by someone who was just starting out in the hobby then would you be asking the same questions?

The reason I asked how much she paid is simple... When you buy cheap, YOU GET CHEAP! Make sense for ya? ;)

I don't think that is true at all. Lot's of high end breeders will sell pet quality critters for very reasonable and still do a wonderful packing job. As well as any breeder looking to make a good name for themselves, and indeed anyone who loves critters. The price tag and seller ethics do not go hand in hand, IMHO.

I agree 100%.

And just what makes you think that? It shouldn't matter how much you pay for an animal. It's AN ANIMAL! Which means you do everything in your power to ensure that it gets there safely. But according to you, it shouldn't matter; right?

Absolutely! Well put.

If he is a high end, well-known breeder, then he should know how to safely ship an animal.

I was unaware that not paying enough money for an animal means that the seller can't afford six pieces of styrofoam insulation, a bag to put the dragon in, and padding to make sure it's not thrown around in the box. I certainly would have thrown in an extra $10 to make that happen.

Good to know where your priorities lie, though.

I have shipped out expensive reptiles as well as some very inexpensive reptiles. Have also shipped out reptiles (healthy) whose monetary value was much more than what I sold it/them for. Have lost money on a "deal or two". No matter what, every reptile was treated the same, with proper packaging, and I will continue to do so.
I will never skimp on packaging (i.e. styrofoam, filler/padding, any needed heat/cold packs, bags/delis, etc.), nor shipping, because every life is valuable and every life is valued the same... no matter the monetary price nor if it were even free.
Plus, I like to keep it professional.
There are others who feel, &/or do, the same.

So, yes, the price tag, and seller ethics, do not always go hand in hand.
This does not mean that there aren't sellers who will skimp, on packaging/shipping, based on price tag.
However, It does mean that not every seller will skimp, on packaging/shipping, based on price tag.
