Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Chaos Reptiles and Pet Supply, Dan Peck and Josh Stone

I would like to say that I have never met or spoken to anyone from chaos reptiles. However I had my first encounter with their animals at a show in October of 2008. As I stopped and looked over the animals they had on display for sale I could not believe that anyone in this business (new or old) would have the nerve to place such animals on their table for sale. Garbage, absolute garbage. Some of these animals were clearly imported, scabbed up, dirty, dehydrated, and plain out sick and disgusting. While I was standing at their table I know of atleast one vendor who mentioned many of these animals to the person working the table, and the animals were then removed and placed back under the table. Just wanted to say thank you to that vendor and any others that still have enough respect for this business to step up to the plate to help protect the people that come to these shows to buy.

It was at the new Carlisle, Pa show. It was there first show. It was some kid named Cody. I did not see them back at the second show. While standing at the table, I heard him tell several people that were complaining about the condition of the animals that they were not his and that they all belonged to chaos reptile and that he was just helping them out trying to sell them.

I was at the Carlisle show and saw Chaos Reptiles table there.Everything on the table looked good and seemed to be in good healthy condition. The Uromastyx seemed cold and were not moving around but it was cold in there. I ended up buying 2 of these and they are still with me and doing great they just needed a little heat.I have also dealt with Chaos at the Hamburg show and have never had any problems. I will continue to deal with them at all shows. No matter who you deal with you are always going to hear good and bad about each and every person. Just remember when you own any type of business you cant please everyone. There will always be a few unsatisfied people.

True, How ever you can make that list shorter if you pay them the money that is due to them!!

I am glad you had a good experience with them but the statement quoted is just wrong. I just did searches for bad guy posts for a few companies I know to be the best in the business and found no compalints.
The truth is a good company corrects their mistakes and tries to work with their customer even when the mistake is something beyond their control.

It is only the truly bad business people who will not try to satisify their clients complaints.

As I said I am gld you had a good experience with this seller but what will really count will be the way they blow you off the first time you have a bad experience with them.

Really?

I'm also glad you have good business with them, too.

Just remember when you own any type of business you cant please everyone. There will always be a few unsatisfied people.

Yes, but most business owners do not make the same mistakes let alone many of the things they've done. Yes, there may be a few unsatisfied costumers, but obviously there is some sort of issue when there are more people coming out with bad stories rather then good. Sure, there may be more wpeople that have had a good experience with them than bad, but until they speak up, it leads one to believe that they are not a good business to deal with.

No matter who you deal with you are always going to hear good and bad about each and every person.

Yes, you will, but again there is more bad coming out about this particular business than good.

Yeah, those who get lied to, those who get bad checks written to, those who get misrepresented animals, those who get sick animals are just so picky aren't they?

I to am glad that you had a good experience with them. Like I said before, I have had no direct dealings with them, and definitely would not due to what I saw at the Carlisle show. I personally heard vendors at the show complaining to them about the condition of their animals, and also witnessed many animals being taken off the table and being placed under the table. I have also heard (someone may want to further research this if it matters), that they were declined to be a vendor at the second show. My guess is that if you bought 2 of the uromastyx that day, they must have been one of the few animals left on the table for sale that should feel lucky they got a good home.

As the show promoter for the Central PA Reptile Expo in Carlisle, I want to make a statement to let everyone know where we stand.

Chaos Reptiles was at the show in October, represented by Cody, NOT by Josh or Dan. There were some issues with some of the animals, and Cody was very good about removing any that were not in good condition. I have had no dealings at all with Dan or Josh directly, only with Cody as their representative at the show. Cody was even the person that paid me (on time and no issues with payment).
So, yes, I will say that if the animals brought to the show were representative of the stock that Chaos brings to the show, they left something to be desired overall. I have not seen Cody's animals to make a statement on his stock, assuming that all of the animals he had with him were from Chaos stock.

As far as Chaos being declined as a vendor at the second show in January...I was never contacted by Chaos (or Cody) to be a vendor at the January show. I did make a statement at the show and several times after that I will not allow ANY vendor in the show with low quality animals on purpose, as there was another vendor that had issues as well with their quality of animals that will NOT be allowed back if I am contacted. I have been having some serious discussions with my husband about Chaos Reptiles and their future at our show if we are contacted. Cody has contacted me about vending at the March show, but we have been playing phone tag, and I will be having a discussion with him about this issue. Cody does his own thing as well as representing Chaos, and it is something I am open to talk to him about before making a final decision on HIM attending the show.

There has been no official decision as of yet, but I do stand behind the fact that I will not allow low quality animals at the show on purpose (you can't always know until someone shows up).

If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me and I will discuss this further. I just wanted to clear up the issue as it stands now.

I'm not a show promoter or sponsor, and have yet to vend at any shows. I have been to many shows as a potential buyer, though.

I've never had any dealings with anyone mentioned or posting in this thread. This is a completely unbiased post. While this is a tad off topic from the original purpose I feel the need to make sure that blame doesn't get shifted unfairly and to re-focus on the main point.

While I do beleive that show promoters have a responsibility to their vendors & patrons to try as best as they can to ensure that the vendors' animals are healthy, without adding the extra cost of having a Vet on hand to certify the animals, it's not an easy task. I've even seen animals at shows that had Vet checks and some animals appeared to me to be sickly to some degree. Definitely not robust, top-quality animals. Not many, but it happens.

Let's say one show has a vendor here & there, at various shows, that has some sub-par animals. That should not have a bearing on the quality of the show itself. Vendors should step up & professionally try to remedy the situation or make the show promoter aware of the situation. According to one post some vendors did that at the first Central PA Reptile Expo. To me, that speaks volumes about the quality of that show & it's vendors. Kudos!

Another poster said; "I was at the Carlisle show and saw Chaos Reptiles table there.Everything on the table looked good and seemed to be in good healthy condition."

Whether this person saw the table before or after some animals were removed from it, I don't know. I'm just saying that it appears that not all of the animals at that table were in bad shape. That is not to be misconstrued as me taking up for Chaos or Todd. Its a lead into my next point.

Where do show promoters draw the line on who they allow to vend? If the majority of the animals at any given show are in good condition, the bad animals only reflect bad upon the particular vendor. If a vendor is a known scam artist and/or has repeat show violations, then I feel that a show promoter has the right to deny them a table.

I saw a vendor, who's name I will not mention, that has tons of horrid reviews, at a show last year. My first thought, based only on what I've read & heard about the vendor, was, "Why in the world is this promoter giving them a table?"

After inspecting their animals & listening to them talk to potential customers I figured that even though rumors abounded (true or not), this vendor apparently hasn't violated any of the promoter's rules. Besides, it gave the public first-hand chance to judge the vendor theirself.

If I had a show, at this point in time, given all the info in this thread alone, I don't think I could justify denying Chaos a table. I might not be too wild about it and would probably watch things as close as I could but I see that at least some restitution has been made. Granted, maybe not as timely as any of us would've liked for it to be done, but it does show some effort. Misrepresentation of animals, from any vendor, would not be tolerated and result in prompt removal from the show.

I'm not taking any sides in this post. My intentions are merely to try to present an unbiased, fair, view.

Caryy on!

First I need to say, great post Michael.

I believe that had I not started displaying signs on my table and or brought this to the BOI there would not have been any actions taken by Chaos. Hopefully bringing this to everyone's attention will it not only inform others of their business practices and poor animal care and quality but hopefully it will prompt them to rectify these problems. Unfortunately some people need to have someone looking over shoulder in order for them to do things correctly. With this information out there and people now aware and watching they either have the choice to get things right or get out.

A public apology....

Sometimes, what you want to mean and how you type something does not always come across well. I spoke to Cody, and also some of my other vendors, and have realized that some of the things I said in my post were incorrect. I want to clear some things up (again). I meant to do this a few days ago, but had internet issues...

I have not seen Cody's animals to make a statement on his stock, assuming that all of the animals he had with him were from Chaos stock.

I want to say here that first, I never asked Cody to remove animals personally, and this is how it sounds. Cody was asked by a vendor to remove some uros, and that is all to my knowledge. I was under the impression that he was asked to remove others, but according to Cody, those were the only animals he was asked to pull because of "not so great" quality. Cody also assured me that the uros that were sold from that bunch were doing great today, as he has had contact with several of his buyers.
Also, apparently there was a little mix-up in who Chaos Reptiles was at the show compared to another vendor who was behind/beside them. Some of the vendors thought that they were one in the same, and the complaints I heard about were NOT from the animals Chaos brought, but from the other vendor (the one who is NOT welcome back to the show). So I apologize for being mistaken on the quality of the animals Chaos brought to the show, as it was NOT their stock that had issues.

[QUOT]As far as Chaos being declined as a vendor at the second show in January...I was never contacted by Chaos (or Cody) to be a vendor at the January show. I want it known that I was NOT saying that Chaos had low quality animals, but was trying to get across that ANY vendor who has low quality animals will be dealt with at the show. I apologize to Cody or Dan if it sounded like I was pointing them out directly with this statement.
Also, I have not yet spoken to Dan/Josh, but am open to the idea of them attending the show at this point. Cody plans on attending the show under his own business name, if he can attend.

So, I want to say that I am sorry to Cody and Chaos reptiles if my statements did not come across the way they were meant. I am half blaming my medications (I love sinus infections and generally being sick), and half blaming a crazy brain (which is every day!).

You know what is really funny?

He heads a reptile rescue!!!!

Half his animals are probably thrown to him and not taken care of/sickly to begin with!

The first screen shot is something I saw on Craigslist a while ago. Yes they take in feeebies and resell them. I even went ghetto herping one day when Dan was unable to. He was called by the animal control from Cleveland Heights about a loose boa. Josh and I went and picked up the animal (someone had to go and hold josh's hand, it was a tie up between the animal control officer still sitting in his van and josh who was more freightened).

Actually, you are incorrect. The link you provided is Dan's ex-girlfriend, and from what I understand dealing with retarded animals is her passion. Also, you may want to include your full name here on the BOI or your post will be deleted.

If you all want a laugh, check out Chaos Reptiles' link:

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=264945065

I've included a screen shot for when it gets changed, but check out Dan's imaginary income. :rofl:Making $250,000 + but writes bad checks.

Want another laugh? Check out josh's link.

While he couldn't work at his own shop, it my understanding josh now has a lucrative job working at a toy store in the mall. Guess it's kind of like the actors being waiting staff until they hit it big. But with hero's like Hulk Hogan, Arnold and the Rock I'm sure josh will be replacing Spielburg in no time.

It appears that Josh has called and spoken with the promoter of at least one show I vend demanding that I not be allowed to display my sign. Ever hear of freedom of speech Josh? Since his request wasn't granted I can only guess Chaos reptiles won't be vending that show any time soon (since the promoters and vendors are ganging up on poor Chaos reptiles:bawling: ). Well, they can rest assured that any show I vend I will be displaying the sign.

Well since you rent that space for the show displaying a sign informing possible customers of bad business people is totally your right, good call on the promoter's part and good thread. That screenshot is laughable.
