In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I would not recommend doing business with this person. I will share my personal experience and leave the judgments to be made by others.

I had a group of leos listed for $300 shipped. When three were sold separately, I edited the add and placed "SOLD" next to the corresponding animals. After this, Emiley sent me $300 via paypal. I sent her a message letting her know that I refunded the appropriate amount to her paypal account as three animals had been previously purchased and marked as "SOLD" before she made her deposit. She then demanded the remainder of her payment back because she did not see that some had been sold. I do not understand how that is my fault, but I offered to send her two ovulating Emerine famales as she said she wanted more females. She declined and demanded her payment once again. At this point the blatant rudeness and shallow threats in her messages had me at a point where I did not want my animals going to this person at all. I have been told that I should not have refunded any of her payment, but I gave her back everything. Once she got her money back, she thanked me for not "wasting" any more of HER time. As of this time, Emiley has cost me two sales to individuals who would have really appreciated these animals. I would not encourage others to participate in business exchanges with this individual, especially if she is the buyer. Thanks,

Don't see how this is a bad guy thread?

You can't sell her whats already sold so a full refund was in order from the start. Not sure why it was an issue why a post was needed?

bridgette,if the item in question was sold before the buyer knew about it then yes full refund should be returned.and trying start a bad guy thread is clearing jmping the gun.

I do not understand how she could not have known about it because after I marked them as sold, she commented on the thread. How do you open a thread and not see a big SOLD before you scroll down and post?

So she bought animals that were already sold AND a few available animals?? Was she just upset that she couldn't get an entire group? Or did that change pricing of the animals that you were going to ship her?

You were selling a group for 300
She sent you 300

Because she sent you 300 one might surmise she did not know you sold some animals out of the group you were selling for 300. She may have seen the initial ad and decided to buy.

If she was buying the group, she should have the entire 300 refunded. You cannot make the decision for her to refund only the sold animals, she may have particularly wanted the sold animals, it is not your decision to make.

She is not a bad guy.

She sent payment for a package -- that package as a unit was no longer available, hence you were "sold out" of the item she wanted, that is, the particular GROUP of lizards. Asking for a full refund when it turns out the group she wanted was not available is not unreasonable.

Refunding only part of the money and trying to make her take other animals she didn't want or ask for is not an acceptable solution to a lot of buyers. In fact, it could be construed as a "bait and switch" to try to get her to accept a substitute lot instead of giving her a full refund for the item you were unable to deliver.

I dont know WHO was telling you "you shouldn't have sent her anything". That's ridiculous. You didn't have the product she wanted. A full refund is the only correct, legal solution in a situation where you are out of stock of the item you recieved payment for.

Any other agreement, such as subsituting animals, should be her OPTION to take, but just that, an option on the buyer's part.

I understand that some of the animals in the group were still available, but the group as a whole was not. She obviously paid for, and wanted the group which was no longer available. There is a good chance that she was most interested in the 3 that were sold, and the others in the group were not needed or wanted without the ones sold.

IMHO this thread is completely uncalled for.

Whether or not it was dumb of her not to notice the original package deal was off the table, I don't think it was right to try to set terms for a new package and price without her involvement.

And this is one reason why I'm willing to risk getting sniped by another buyer rather than send my payment without communicating with the seller first.

have you notified her of this thread? i know the group you were talking about and all were 66% het radar. it was also a mixture of males and females and i'm sure the potential buyer was planning on keeping and breeding them. but if she was buying the entire group for 300 shipped, and missed the fact that two were sold, it sounds like a simple mistake. i think it was nice of you to offer her two really nice females as replacements, but it's still her decision whether or not to accept. can you posts any messages or emails where she was rude to you? i'm not sure who advised you that you shouldn't refund anything to her, but i would question their business practices as well. there are certain circumstances where i could see this being an issue, but this was obviously just a mistake on the part of the potential buyer. keeping a cool head and handling this a little better would have gone a long way to show you in a "good guy" light and potentially get her business at a later date. unfortunately i don't see that happening now.

I don't usually post here, but I feel the need to chime in her. I think SHE would be more warranted in starting a bad guy thread about YOU. So she didn't recheck the ad to see they were sold, that's an understandable mistake. When the "item" she wanted (the whole $300 group) was no longer available, she should of course have been immediately refunded if she wished.

If you sent Patagonia $200 for a new jacket, and they said it was sold out, wouldn't you want your money back? What if they said, "no way, just choose from these other jackets".

And whoever told you to just keep it and not send her anything back is giving you criminal advice. That would be completely illegal.

It took me a couple reads to finally understand what happened or at least I have a general idea of what happened with this situation.

Bridgette I would suggest going over your facts about this deal because your post is a bit vague. Starting with how many animals were in the original group for $300, was it five?
Then 3 leos were sold individually prior to emily sending you a payment of $300 for the listed group price of 5 Leos.

Did Emily email you before she sent you the payment? Had you talked to her at all about the purchase of the group or did she just see your ad and sent the $300 even though the ad was marked sold or was sold just next to each individual animal.

I't's probably a good idea to post the link to your ad and post all emails between the two of you so readers will understand what your complaint is about emily to label her a Bad Guy.

I am not saying your wrong or Emily is wrong I don't really know what she did yet that makes her a bad guy due to lack of info. I'm just offering some advice that might help make your claim a bit more clear. Not that it will prove Emily deserves a bad guy post but at least people will be able to form a proper opinion based on all the facts.

Without a doubt you should send Emily a link to this thread if you haven't already.

Glad to hear that it wasn't just me! My earlier questions were not to back either side, but trying to understand what your blurted out in your original single paragraph. Understanding better, I have to agree with others that this thread should have never been started.

If those animals were priced as a group, you cannot lock her into buying a couple of the animals, just because she sent you the money for the entire group without realizing some were sold. It would be totally different if the two of you agreed on a purchase price of whatever animals, she paid and then decided that she didn't want them, but even then you couldn't expect to keep 100% of the money AND the animals. :shrug01:

Ok, here is the ad: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228751

Emiley posted that payment was sent 2/24 8:28 PM
You made a post ten minutes later, edited the next morning so it just says the animals are still available, and the ad was edited one minute after that.
Maybe they weren't even marked as sold until after, and you just got a better offer on individual animals?

Hey everyone :) My first BOI. :( had to happen sometime eh?

Anyways... Originally I wanted to buy one male and all the females... She wrote me back stating it was all or nothing... Then right after said it was okay to buy individual. I was gone for the majority of the day and didn't look back at the post to see if any had been sold. So i sent her the three hundred for all of the group.
after receiving the money she replied to me saying three were gone. TWO being females. So obviously wanting mostly females I didn't want the group anymore. So I told her this; she offered me two emerine females to replace the ones that were sold in the radar group. I told her I was not interested and again asked for a refund. she told me I had already purchased them and that I was not going to get a refund. She choice to only refund $60 dollars for the ones that had previously sold. I threatened to post on here and she decided to give me my money back.

So there ya go... I would sum this all up as a communication error. I should have looked at the thread to make sure all were sold but didn't. Usually when you are interested in buying a group of anything the person will let you know through PM if some were sold. It didn't happen that way. Not sure if that makes either of us a "BAD GUY".

Thanks for letting me know this was posted Abish

Personally, I didn't see anything that made YOU a bad guy, but Bridgette was sure teetering! I am very glad to see that she made the right decision and refunded all of your money though.

Can you post emails to back up what I put in bold.. complete with the to and from headers?

:iagree:

This certainly puts up some red flags! Bridgette is kind of starting out on the wrong foot here. Hopefully, she changes her business practices AND gets a new set of people to get advice from!
