Colombian tegus have one large loreal scales, The Argentine tegus have two. The loreal scales Are the scales between the eye and nostril. The Argentine also have a pattern of distinct lines running from the head down the sides of the neck and back. The Colombians have no such markings. The skin of the Argentine is beaded.
