    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

These babies were produced from a breeding between a NERD male Granite back(Anthrax x Poison Ivy) and a female tiger retic. The female tiger is also het for albino and produced several albinos last year. All their offspring are possible hets for SNOW(double het for both the albino and axanthic traits). I should be posting more photos later this week. All the hatchlings are feeding great on live or dead rats and are available at the following prices:
male granite back TIGER $500
female graniteback TIGER $750
male granite back $250-$350
female granite back $500
I may consider other python or boa trades. If interested email me at [email protected] or call 210-533-0111 or 210-913-2928.

i have a couple questions. please dont take this as anything but simply an inquiry. from what i understand, the granite back is a co-dom trait, which is like the tiger gene. also, i understand it is tough to tell granite backs from the others until they are at least several months old. how do you distinguish these are granite backs from other normals and normal tigers? also, what is poison ivy, havent heard this term before. maybe i just dont get out as much as i used to. i have been breeding retics for quite sometime now, but i am still trying to understand the whole granite back, anthrax and axanthic thing.

Poison Ivy is one of NERDS calicos. And I don't see how these are granite back tics! Or poss het for snow!

Granite backed or granite back retics !!!!

Actually Nerd use to refer to this morph as granite-backed retics. Now I've noticed they are using granite back. Anyway back in 12/03 I bought a pair of granite-backed retics from Nerd in hopes of producing something new and different or at the very least a beautiful calico like their Mother Poison Ivy!! However it appears their real genetic value comes from their father's side. At the very least he is axanthic. One of the two necessary traits needed to produce Snows. I don't know of any produced yet but I imagine there are a few around. I was under the impression that Nerd produced their first Granite back tigers this year and that some of these are listed with photos in the available retic section of their website. I don't believe there is any criteria for distinguishing between the normal tigers and the granite back tigers in a clutch, at least any that I'm aware of. All the granite back tigers in my female's clutch have a different look about them and are definitely different from any other tigers she has produced. I'm guessing that Nerd's granite back tigers are probably from breeding a female tiger with Anthrax. My gb tigers resulted from breeding one of Anthrax's granite back offspring to a female tiger. I'm assuming all my tigers are granite backs and hope that their low prices(compared to Nerd's) will make them sell. As far as the regular granite backs are concerned I'm judging them mainly by their pattern. I believe that this and the amount of yellow coloration that developes on the babies as they grow might determine which ones will end up with the classical graniteback look like their Daddy(photos) has. I don't think there has been a lot of color change yet in this clutch. I'm willing to sell these babies before their color changes. I'm not really set up to handle 10 or 20 four or five foot retics, so I'm willing to sacrifice them at these great prices. Later when the animal's value skyrockets my customers will benefit!!

It seems that NERD isn't even sure about the appearance of granite backs, which is why they have a listing for "possible granite back tigers". So, to assume all of yours are tigers puts you out on a shaky limb. It would seem to me that statistically it would be almost impossible for all of them to be granite backs. I am involved in a granite back/ anthrax project and would consider adding a tiger (or two) into the mix, but I would need to see more individual pics. For granite back tigers your price is great, but for "possible granite back tigers" your price is higher tham NERDS.

Greg, if you check out that section again on Nerd's website I think that you will see that it was just a question of paternity in that particular case. Nevertheless, after speaking with Nerd I have found that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the normal and gb tigers.However it is possible. There are some subtle cues that can be used to id borderline cases. If I have doubts of the id of my granite back candidates they will likely be sold as pet shop babies. In fact I may end up selling half the clutch as normals if anyone is interested. They could easily get lucky and end up with a few very cheap gb or gb tigers!!!
