Looking to move on my 1.1 adult rhino ratsnakes. They were both hatched in 2019 so that makes them about 5.5 years old. I have had them since 2020.
They are unrelated (as far as the two different breeder’s stock were unrelated) and they were both DNA sexed via sheds. I’ve had both since they were babies so I can give the full history of each. I am happy to pass along the breeder info for each as well since both breeders have been very helpful to me over the years.
I have been very conscientious of over-feeding due to the propensity of this species to develop fatty tumors. You will not have any trouble getting them to eat (aside for springtime for the male), they beg constantly to be fed (both on f/t adult mice).
On paper these are the perfect species for me; manageable size that can fully stretch out in a 4’ enclosure, diurnal, arboreal, undemanding care and absolutely gorgeous. I have just come to realize that, as much as I appreciate their beauty, I do not enjoy keeping colubrids as much as other species. I want these to go to someone who will appreciate them and the challenge of raising their offspring.
I did pair them up last year, for the first time, but I waited for the female to shed to introduce the male (she never did) and missed the ovulation window.
I will not sell them separately and as long as I have them I will be continuing their breeding plan for this year and pairing them up after they are done with brumation.
If it gets to the point where the female is obviously gravid then I will not be shipping them out until she lays (I won’t want to put any extra stress on her at that point). But there is a chance that she could arrive at her new home gravid.
Asking $2000 for the pair. I take PayPal and will ship hub-hub Fedex, Mon-Wed.
I also have 2 large glass enclosures (36x18x36” and 48x18x36”) that can go with them to a local buyer.
First 4 photos are of female, last 4 are the male.
