In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Seriously man take another photo of that sweet a$$ snake while he isn't sitting on nasty molded bedding and he might sell.

Pic?

Honestly that cell phone picture makes it look like any other pastel hatchling. We dont know that it will not brown out. The other poster is right. Take a pic of him on a white background under a daylight bulb with a quality digital camera. The picture is very important when you're talking about spending that much money.

Now that's what im talkin bout!! Killer pick and a killer animal!! Bump for a smokin boy...

The fire fly combo gets brighter with age. They are beautiful as adults. Must be seen to be appreciated. Thank you for your interest.

I WILL EVEN THROW IN A NICE CLEAN LEMON PASTEL FEMALE 340
GRAMS. NOW THAT'S A DEAL. 1 MALE SMOKIN' FIREFLY AND 1 FEMALE PASTEL. THANK YOU.

Proof??

What are you basing your statement on, that Fireflies get brighter with age?

Dave

If you dont know why fireflies get brighter with age and do not brown out like regular pastels please do some research on the combo.

The OP is right. If that is in fact a firefly it will not brown out. It will retain all of its color and should get brighter as it gets older. The fire gene is a "lightener" gene. When crossed with morphs that are known to darken as they get older, it counteracts that. The new combo is cleaned up. The color is brighter. Less melanin. No brown outs.

The facts are, I do know ALL about Het Black Eyed Lucies, and their crosses. I also know that Het Black Eyed Lucies tend to lighten up with age. I also know that a Pastel Het Black Eyed Lucy looks better as a baby than as an adult, at least mine did. While they look totally clean as babies, they do get some brown sprinkles as adults, at least mine did. Which is why I asked the question, "What is the original poster basing his claim that Fireflies get brighter as they age on?"

The original poster said Fireflies get brighter with age. He did not say, Fireflies will stay brighter than Pastels, and brown out less than Pastels.

Monica, do you have a Pastel, do you have a FireFly? Do you have both babies and adults of each? I do, so my question was based on personal experience with the morphs in question, not on what I have heard. Maybe less research and more hands on experience?????

The snake in this add is amazing, I just asked a simple question.

...

Then you should also know that not all fires are a proven het black eyed lucy line? Just like not all caramel albinos are compatible to produce more caramels..

I do have Fires, Pastels, Vanilla (same basic idea as the fires) and no I do not own a firefly yet as my eggs are not yet on the ground. I do however personally know a breeder who does have a firefly from last year & it still looks like a super pastel.

Maybe not all FF will get brighter but they should retain the baby color. If they do not its no different in quality to me than the difference between a lemon or blonde pastel to a low quality pastel which looks like a bright normal.

Just like some low quality fires do not look like a fire should (no head spot, lip spots, flames, bright top line etc..) Im sure some FF produced by these fires may not be as bright as those produce by a lemon or blonde pastel to a very bright fire with all the obvious visual traits a fire should have.

You put a dirty fire to a dirty pastel you will get dirty FF. Thats pretty much the way it is with any morph. They shouldnt brown out but i suppose if they do it was a bad choice in pairing.
