In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I sure hope this counts as a legit classified. Mods, please forgive me and delete it if it's a little too... Well, you'll see.

I have 4 featherfooted bantam chickens which will be 2 years old in the spring. 1 golden-laced-partridge cochin rooster (extremely friendly and funny), 1 golden-laced cochin hen, 1 red cochin hen, and 1 mille fleur d'uccle hen (very, very noisy).

All four are being housed on a property under the care of someone who now owns hundreds of other ornamental chickens. I had an agreement with this person that they would feed my five chickens for me whilst I was busy with work, in exchange for eggs. I received a phonecall stating that my porcelain d'uccle hen had died. I went over and was horrified to find that she had starved to death and been partially cannibalized along with a handful of the property owner's chickens. (I can't imagine they got many eggs, either) I'm well aware that I should have checked up on them, but I never thought in a million years that they would suddenly stop caring about their animals. (MY chickens are now being fed, but they are still housed on that property and NEED to be moved!)

The rooster (Boomer) is a mixture of golden-laced and partridge color patterns and he frequently grows white feathers on his toes. He has also sustained frost bite damage to his comb and is unsuitable for show, but is an extremely well-built, glossy bird and will breed true golden-laced chicks when paired with Phoebe, the golden-laced hen. Amber, the red hen, is THEE BEST setter/brooder I have ever come across, and she will sit and hatch ANY egg. She is the tamest one and would make a wonderful 'first pet chicken' for a child; she is just the right size. Abby, the d'uccle, is the prettiest (IMO) but she is noisy and a little crabby, especially since her buddy died. ALL of the chickens are safe for children to handle (supervise while holding Abby, she may scratch) and will lay small eggs if fed properly. Boomer is accustomed to roaming free, but would tolerate being confined. HE SHOULD NOT BE KEPT NEAR OTHER ROOSTERS unless they are very submissive. He is extremely mannerly towards all hens and will not rip their feathers out.

I will provide photos to anyone interested, but it's quite a process to go out there and take them, so I don't have any yet.

All four remaining chickens are free with the exception of shipping. If you live within a 50-mile radius of 56484 (Walker MN post office), I will deliver them free of charge, or meet you at the end of that 50 miles if you are a little further away. I am also willing to provide a very small shipping cage (it will hold all 4 of them with enough room to turn around; it's all I have) and ship them to you, but shipping of live birds can be expensive.

If you can provide a good home, I will also supply you with a 50# bag of layer feed, a NEW feeder, a NEW waterer, and a NEW heat lamp w/ bulb!

I would VASTLY prefer if they went to a home with no other chickens, or with only hens, but at this point nearly any home is better than the one they are in. If you want them, but something just doesn't sound good to you, PLEASE contact me so we can talk about it! I'll do anything to get these birdies a better life!
