In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

That's how many holes I've melted in new sweater boxes in the last 48 hours. I'm getting my new racks tomorrow, so I've been busting ass trying to get all the tubs ready.

I think the plastic fumes are getting to my brain though, which probably explains why I've been such a post whore today.

Anyway, after I get the racks home and assembled, I'll take some more pictures.

lol... I only had to count to 17, then I multiplied. :raspberry (my toes were getting cold)

I'm getting my new racks from Animal Plastics tomorrow. I opted to save on shipping by picking them up in person since they're only 5 hours away. I have to borrow my mom's urban-assault vehicle in order to fit all 10 of them inside, but even after paying for gas, I should save at least $500.

The only downside is that I have to drive through Iowa. :ack2:

lol that reminds me, you should see the looks I get from the cashiers at Target when I go through the same check-out twice in 10 minutes with a cart full of shoebox, sweater and blanket boxes. They always ask me what the heck I need all of them for, and since it's none of their damn business, I always come up with some sort of creative response. The first time when I told the guy that I raised reptiles and that these are what I keep most of them in, he wouldn't believe me. So, today I told the check-out girl that I was disassembling my car and mailing it in pieces to the guy who bought it on eBay. I know, I'm evil. :dgrin:

That's priceless. I love making up outlandish crap to tell the non herpers who inquire about our odd practices.

Paul, that's perfect. Love it.

I know what it is to burn holes. I built the rack system in my avatar. What a pain in the ass!

Keep me posted on your pooch. Art

 I don't think she found it as funny as you guys did. I think she did believe me at first because her eyes got all huge, but then she looked a little pissed off. By the time I made it to the truck, I would imagine that she finally realized I was kidding... but I'm sure there's still a little doubt.

Awww come on now, Iowa isn't THAT bad. :raspberry

Well..maybe. :hehe:

Paul you crack me up!

I was actually told at a Wal-Mart in Kansas that I could not take ALL of the shoe boxes. lol... I wanted all 200 they had in stock and they would only sell me 100 for some reason so I just sent my wife (exwife now) back in an hour later to clean them out. :)

Paul, Love the response, too funny.
As far as burning holes LOL I too have had the "I think the burnt plastic fumes are causing my brain to melt." LOL
I use a screw driver and a propane torch ( it just makes it more fun).
And my kids sit there and look at me Like I am nuts.

I do something very similar. I use a pair of vice grips to hold a nail punch that I heat with a propane torch. I melt the plastic from inside the tub to produce smooth holes.

I did that until I found that wal mart sold soldering irons for 10 bucks. Worth every penny ;)

I thought about making a jig. Taking a piece of 1/8" steel and drilling the holes in it in the pattern I wanted in the tubs. Then putting an approrpiate sized nail in each hole. Then take another piece of 1/8" steel just large enough to cover the pattern and weld it to the back of the plate over the heads of the nails. Then heating the whole thing up with an acetylene torch and burning all the holes in an end at once.
Would be a cool toy and something to make folks ask questions if nothing else.

Thats right Clay! Unleash the creativity!

I've heard about rigging something up that would burn multiple holes at once, but being as accident prone as I am, it's probably best to stick with just one "hot poker" for the time being. Additionally, I'm pretty picky about having the holes in the "right place" and making them all as identical as possible, and I'm not sure how well that would work with such a rig.

I used to buy $4 soldering irons at Menard's, but those didn't last very long. Then I bought a Weider or Welder brand (can't remember right now) from Home Depot for around $13-14 that apparently reaches a higher temperature because it melts both plastic and solder MUCH faster than the cheap-o's that I used to get at Menard's. Plus, the one from H.D. comes with a few different tips, and I can switch them back and forth when I'm working with either solder or plastic so that I don't get the ugly, dirty marks on the nice clear tubs.

Paul, I didn't think about you having to burn all those holes. I would have lent you my contraption.

It is now mounted in two aluminum brackets. Works well. LOL

Did you get all the holes finished? Are the new racks put together yet? I see a late night in your future. Now get to work. :raspberry

lol Yeah, I suppose that would have come in handy but in MY basement it would probably have been popping the circuit breaker as well. :raspberry Although, that should be taken care of pretty soon.

And, um... no. I didn't get quite as much done as I had hoped. I haven't even finished taking all the rack pieces downstairs, which is what I was hoping to get done last night yet. HOWEVER, last night ended up employing a pinata, karaoke machine & birthday cake and it didn't end until after 5am so... :ack2:

(note to self: when the "birthday boy" is allowed to fill his own pinata and decides it would be funny to hide a two-pound summer sausage inside, STAND BACK when he starts swinging the baseball bat)
