    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A few beardie questions...

Ok so recently I got a new job at a petstore and the bearded
dragon vendors have been sending tiny babies. I've told my boss that the babies are probably way too small and that he should talk to the vendor and only have babies sent in at a larger size.

Anyways, to my questions.

At such a young age what should they be eating? We feed them
small crickets and tiny meal worms as well as kale.

What temperatures should a baby be at? They just came in at the small size so I haven't been able to check the current temps yet but I will as soon as I go in tomorrow.

Why is it bad to get babies at such a small size? I know it's just a general rule of thumb to not get under 3 inches because they are young, but besides that. What is the real reason? Also does anyone have a link to something that explains it so i can show the person in charge?

I'm sure I have a bunch of other questions but I'll leave it at that.

Dustin,

I appreciate your concern for the health of these babies. There are many reasons your store shouldnt be accepting babies this small. One of the main reasons is the unnecessary stress it puts on dragons that are really to small to go through the shipping process. Their systems arent strong enough to endure many of the stresses that they are exposed to. You mention shipping at a 3" size? I dont ship until 6" or larger.

I would recommend you read some more care sheets. For one, kale should not be a staple veggie due to the oxalates it contains which binds calcium. Feed them finely chopped collard greens and turnip greens. There are many more that can readily be found on different breeders care sheets on their websites.

Good job checking into this and now go set the manager straight!

Yes, good for you for being concerned. By the way, if you can actually accurately measure the babies [ most guesses are way off ] and they are under 5", they may have JUST hatched within the week. Almost all babies are 4" at hatching...so if they are 3" at hatching they are under-sized, probably from a female that was bred way too small, and the dragons will already have a handi-cap in life. You can mention that to your boss as well.
