Since I'm just starting out with my ball I have been doing a lot of research and been getting a lot of different answers. I have heard that the only heating source needed in a room that gets good daylight is a heat tape (which I have) and also have heard that they also need heat lights. I have heard that with lights you need to have about 10-14 hours of light a day. I am not allowed to keep my snake in my bedroom (I have a not so herp friendly girlfriend) so I am forced to keep him in my living room. I am struggling at this time of year with the temperature changes to keep him at a constant temp. What I want to know is whether or not flipping the basking light on and off throughtout the day would mess up his day/night schedule. I have been leaving it on most of the day and turning it off at night, but sometimes during the day he gets hot and I turn it off. Should I get a rheostat? Also, the room he is in has plenty of daylight. The heat changes aren't drastic but I want to know if there is anything I should do that will keep it more constant.
