In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

a good question bout my dead snake

ok i had about a 3 1/2 4 foot male albino burm and i noticd it was weasin and make a funny sound so i thought it was a respiratory infection so i took him to the vet and had him run a swab to check if he had one and it came back negative :shrug01: and this is the weird part i walked into my snake room and noticed he was moven around and didnt look like he could control his body and he looked to be seizureing and a clear solid flem was comin out his wind pipe and he did this for about a good 30 mins b4 he died i tryed to control him but he was biting and i couldnt stop him from moving so we did and atopsy on hin and his lungs were filled wit that weird flem but it wasnt like a runny flen it as more of a solid . he was feedin weekly with out any probs i dont no if it was anythin i did rong his air temp was about 85 his basking temp was bout 91 and the coller side was about 80 so i am not sure

i have no clue wut could have been rong wit him if anyone could help me and to figure wut his problem was would be a great help

thanks
joe

What was his setup like? Problems can stem from a lot of other things than just temp. What was his humidity at? Also what kind of substrate did you use, and how long have you had him? Was he around others snakes, and if so do any of your others show any signs of anything similar?? If you do have other snakes, what do you have that he could have been exposed to(species wise). Have you noticed any mites kicking around on him or other snakes? These are just a few questions that can help you get a more concise answer. I am not a medical expert, but if you answer these I might be able to point you in a better direction, or someone else might see what the problem may have been. Sorry for your loss, Dan M.

How long between the time you first noticed him wheezing, took him to the vet, got the results, and the animal's death?

Was gonna say, if you didn't catch it early enough RIs can easily lead to death. Is your vet a licensed herp vet?

i had him in a 75 breeder with just a normal rug and a plastic hide log and a water bowl and as soon as i seen him weezin and makeing the noses i took him in and about 2 days later it came bak negative and then about a week or so later i found him like he was so im not to sure what was rong with him and i just wanted to make sure it couldnt be transmited to any of my other 13 snakes . and i also checked for mites because i had a mite problem once at the begining when i first started gettin my snakes and i got rid of them with prevent a mite but i didnt notice any on him and if he did im sure i would have noticed then cuz he was albino and it would have been easyer to notice . But has any one ever heard of IBD i just read up on it the last night it had sum simaler symptoms and i was wonderin if that may have been the problem bcuz it said it dosent show and symptoms untill the last minute so that may have been the problem. none of any of my other snakes r showin any problems thank god
i appreciate the help

sounds like RI

Hey Joe,
Sorry you lost your snake like that.
From what you have described it sounds to me like a severe respiratory infection killed your snake. For it to get that bad I would guess that he was probably sick for quite a while before you became aware of it.

Improper temps, humidity, unsanitary conditions, stress, and contact with other animals (or any combo of these factors) are some of the things that can lead to RI. It's kind of like colds in humans..........there are a bunch of different viruses and bacteria that can cause a snake to get a respiratory infection. It's hard to say exactly how he cought it.

Watch your other snakes for any signs of it and make sure they have optimal living conditions to help lower their chances of getting it too.

Good luck,
~Charlie
