• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

From the jasballs BOI thread:

no need to threaten me...lol

im new here and just politly asked:rolleyes:

I figured I'd take this over to the feedback forum, as Rich suggested, rather than continue an off topic discussion on a BOI thread.

Rich didn't "threaten" you. He merely explained the rules and the consequences for breaking them. You're new...so you got a pass and didn't receive an infraction for going Off Topic...and he even answered your question. Then explained how things work so you may avoid any future infractions. I fail to see how that is a "threat". :shrug01:

Considering how many members go back and forth between the two forums, there is an awful lot of negativity about this site posted over there (at least that's the impression I get from viewing the threads that people send links to). If people are inclined to bash this site (or its members) on another forum, why do they keep coming back to participate here?

My only suggestion is to not take all the commentary as hard fact. A couple statements that I saw in the latest thread are definitely twists on reality. I'm not saying any more, as I don't want to fan the flames.
It's pretty sad, though, that this rift is still being egged on in that manner.

thanks. i just didnt knew the storie and wondered myself why it get edited. u will notice my english isnt the best but i understand 95% of the words. the rest i get out of context or threw translation sites.

i just asked why it get edited. i get answer and the notice that if im response (or take it any further) ill get an infraction for off topic.

i took it as a threat (thats how it felt for me).

now i know why and everything is ok.

I made a statement that applied to everyone participating within that thread who appeared to be heading towards taking that thread off topic. So no, it was not specifically targeted to you.

Actually, the other site being referenced here was instrumental in my decisions about how I want to run this site, so there is a good side to it, I guess. And it is instructive to note that some people who got banned from this site for profanity and personal attacks now make that site their home now. I reached the conclusion that I did not want this site to be home for such people, nor allow the sort of viciousness that some of those people display towards others personally.

I do hope the owners of that site realize that they have a potential lawsuit in their future and have the income from the site capable of providing the funds to defend against such a suit. Nearly every lawsuit threat I got from this site was related to similar personal attacks that took place here, and that realization was the deciding factor in my taking steps to eliminate such personal invective here. Since the owners of that site apparently condone and actively participate in threads of that nature there, then I do not wish to assist them in any way getting advertisement or traffic from my sites.

Quite likely there is just a learning curve that comes with running message board sites that admins have to go through. A sort of "maturing" that comes from transiting from being traffic hungry enough to overlook it, to reaching a point where you realize that quality is much more important than quantity. I know I went through it, so perhaps it is something that comes with the territory. I was just damned lucky that I didn't have to go through several lawsuits before reaching that level of maturity. And I'm sure that some sites don't naturally reach that level before an expensive lawsuit either puts them out of the picture completely, or accelerates that learning curve as a painful lesson.
