    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

About the BOI and it's future here...

I don't get why people are acting so offended, of course the contributions mean something I don't think thats the issue. The issue is that there aren't enough of them, I'm guilty of it too because either I don't think about it till any spare money I had is gone or because I didn't realize how much trouble the boi was really in. Whatever the case our time to fix it is short so anyone who has been helped by the BOI needs to do what they can right now. I think what is scaring most people is they don't want to contribute right now and in a month the BOI is unavailable.
 
I am offended because there was a big "Save the BOI" campaign, to which I contributed, and now it appears that there was never any intention to save the BOI, it will either be shut down or crippled to the point that it is no longer useful. $25 may not be much money, but it's the principle of the matter that bothers me. I gave that $25 to support the BOI, and I will not be receiving the service of the BOI that I paid for.
 
I can understand that but the best thing to do now IMO is to try to come up with a way to fix it. Contributions in the past, while I'm sure were appreciated, still obviously aren't enough. Just like any other business that you may pay for a membership to it can go under and while its unfortunate it doesn't mean it was done on purpose just to hurt its members.
 
How much is enough? I never saw a straight answer to that question, it was something along the lines of "I'll see how many people pay, and then wait and decide based on how I feel about it." And now we're getting "I don't feel good about it because some people called me names on a private forum three years ago." That is crap, and I'm not happy about it.
 
Guys and gals..... Do you know what it is like to run a site? A site this size. I ran and owned TRR in it's prime and it never was even half the saize of the BOI. But it still at one time got traffic. I got death threats to people saying they would not buy from me becuase of what others said on my site.

I know that people paid and want this or that. But I can understand where Rich is coming from. running a forum is not easy. And everyone has a different view on how it should be ran. So at any given time Rich has a person hating him for something he can not help.

THe BOI is a great tool. Don't get me wrong I will miss it if it is gone. But I will not be upset at Rich if it is gone either.

does Rich make money off this site? I could not tell you. But it is none of my business if he does or doesn't.

Take it this way....... Rich had an idea and it blew up into something huge. It is what it is.

I haven't seen Rich recant his position on people gettin what they paid for...unless he has, your contribution will give you access to the BOI, even if he does opt to close the doors. Members with access will be able to read and post until their subscription expires. You knew that going in, so I don't understand the issue?

But it's not the same, open useful BOI, it will be a forum that slowly withers away because only a small number of people can read or post to it. Ultimately it's not the money I'm worried about, it's the loss of a great tool, and the disrespect being shown to contributors by refusing to give a straight answer to a simple question.

I'm sorry if this thread is too long for you to read to find the answers I already gave, but that's your path to take. Or not. My time that it will take to explain things all over again, or cut and paste my previous replies, is just as valuable to me as apparently your time is to you that is needed to read this thread for your answers. Sorry about that.....

You have time to put all that together, but not time to say "Yes, I did intend to save the BOI, but the contributions I have received are insufficient." or "No, I did not intend to save the BOI and have used the contributions for other purposes." Give me a break.

I don't want to speak for Rich on this, but I can see his point. He has already stated that the number of new Contributing memberships fell short of his hopes, and that he pretty much considers that an indication of people's feelings on the matter. How many times, and how many ways does he have to say it?
If, when he does the final number crunch, he doesn't find the justification to leave things as they are, he'll make it paid access only. You knew of that possibility when you contributed, why get so agitated as the clock ticks down? Maybe you think making the topic a source of aggravation will somehow sway him to keep things free?

Well, that IS funny. I was thinking the same thing about someone who DEMANDS that I take my time to dig up the answers I've already expressed rather then expending their own time to just read this thread to find those same answers....... Go figure.....
 
I know I said no more, but one last post:

I have every right to demand an answer, because I have paid you for a service, and it appears that soon I will not be receiving the service I paid for. I asked a simple question that you could have answered simply, no research or digging required on your part. I even gave you two sample answers that you could have cut and pasted, but instead you waste your time and mine posting meaningless drivel like "Ah, uh, .......... oh, never mind..... " and complaining about people questioning you.

If I have learned anything during my short time on the BOI it is that people with nothing to hide have no problem answering questions, and people who have been dishonest try to dodge them. Since you continue to dodge, I can only believe that those of us who have contributed are not funding the BOI, but instead paying for your Corvette, vacation fund, or some other personal use. That is a betrayal of the trust we have all shown you, and I expected better from the man who started such a wonderful site.

You may ban me, close my account, or do whatever you will, but I no longer wish to participate in what the BOI has become. I doubt you will feel any obligation to issue a refund, but if you do you may make a donation for the amount in my name at Treewalkers International, they are an organization worthy of my support.

WOW.... Rich you just can not please some. Brother just like I told you in Daytona. it just is not worth it anymore. Screw the money..... The head ache will kill you.
 
Calm down. It's a perfectly legit question - what is the money's purpose if in fact Rich does not incur a lawsuit? His website makes him a profit as it is already. The hypothetical lawsuit doesn't justify the contributions if it never happens, especially if the BOI goes down. In that case, refunding the money is only decent, if you understand from the onset that the money is to fund legal fees...

Rich calls it buyer's remorse (not his words, but that's his implication), and Tony's simply frustrated Rich seems to be eager to take donations yet let the BOI waste away so easily, essentially wasting the contributions. Pretty big caveat emptor if you ask me. I don't see how this couldn't be clearer...or rather, raise more flags.
