Hello again Gentlemen and Ladies,
I'm writing because I'm considering getting a couple ackies and trying to breed them. I'd love to breed pharoah, but obviously that would take quite alot of space to house two nile monitors...it's expensive enough to house and feed one!
I've been looking over the ackie information on this site, and looking around on the internet, and I do believe that they are something I want to try. My question is: I know ackies aren't sexually dimorphic, but is their DNA sexing services available like the bird industry has? I've been breeding lovebirds for a while, and if a customer wants a true pair I can send a toenail clipping into a lab and they will send me the sex of the bird. Has anyone heard of this for reptiles? If not, how do you seasoned ackie breeders acquire true pairs? Also, I might not be looking in the right places, and forgive me if I'm being redundant, but what humidity do ackies prefer?
Thank you everyone for your time and advice.
Jon
