I want to state for the record, that *THIS IS NOT A BAD GUY THREAD!* HE WILL BE LINKED TO THIS THREAD ONCE I HIT SUBMIT
I really didn't want my first post on Fauna Classified to be a thread like this, I have been lurking for awhile and finally made an account last month. However...
This is an info thread for those who will be dealing with Adam in the future, as he has stated he will be selling these pythons again in the spring, to be fully aware of how he is currently conducting his business transactions . Hopefully, by the time he tries to sell these snakes again, he'll be a little more savvy.
Again, for the record. THIS IS NOT A BAD GUY THREAD, I did get my money back, and there's a tl;dr at the bottom.
I was approached by Candace Pike (Candachan on Fauna and various other places), about a gentleman named Adam Deviney (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/member.php?u=94418) about a pair/trio of Savu pythons plus cages that Adam was selling. i was interested in the pythons, since I really like the interesting looking pythons, so I asked Candace to speak to him on how much he wanted for the pair and the cabinets since she was already wishing to buy the mexmex and hondos.
She inquired and got an initial cost back from him, and it seemed reasonable so I said I was interested in purchasing only the pair and the cages. Suddenly, there was a huge rig-a-ma-roll about how much the cabinets really cost and that he had to also think about if he really wanted to sell some other snakes he originally put up for sale. The next day, he came back with a higher price on the cabinets because he forgot about 30 (or 40?) hours of extra work he put in the cabinets when he originally quoted the price.
I raised an eyebrow of this, but I realized he was probably new to the hobby or business in general, and didn't realize this wasn't probably the best way to conduct a business transaction. At this point, we also found out that one of his female savus had bad mites, and the pair, along with her, were in quarantine being treated. At this, both of us were scratching our heads. However, he stated he was taking care of them and they'd be available to me in a couple of weeks. Candace also mentioned to him, in person (so no emails, sorry), that I was willing and able to further continue their treatment at my place after I pick them up and keep them quarantined from the other part of my collection.
I still didn't feel comfortable with giving him money for potentially compromised snakes, so Candace went over to his place to inspect both the snakes she was interested in, and the pair of savu for me. They all seemed okay, though she did find a mite on one of the females (but not the one I was interested in, IIRC. Candace can correct me if I am wrong). She took hers home after Adam apparently sprayed the snakes down with Nix.
Now, this week I got a forwarded email from Candace saying there has been a bad relapse of the mites and I was now, no longer allowed to pick them (or the cabinets up). That Adam was terminating the deal and my money would be refunded.
I was surprised by this. But apparently he had "eased up" (his words) on the treatment and there was a relapse. Thinking that he either: 1) found someone else to purchase the snakes, for more than I purchased them for or 2) He decided he didn't want to actually sell them anymore (since he went round and round with Candace on what snakes he actually wanted to part with for days). I decided to send him an email that I wanted to inspect the Savu in person to make sure he was telling me the truth. And if there was a mite relapse, then he could refund me my money on the spot.
I got a huge reply back, that basically questioned my competence on treating mites. I also found out that he had been spraying Nix in the faces of the snakes and not wiping them down. By the end, I was entirely fed up with the entire situation and it bled out into the email. But here are the emails, completely unedited aside from taking out one swear word (for the record, I can provide more emails about everything, but there are a ton of them. I just wanted to state this so people didn't think I was lying or holding anything back):

I gave you a written receipt with a gauruntee of healthy and mite free savu pythons. Currently I would not claim them to be healthy or mite free. Therefor the deal will be terminated with a full refund.
Giving someone mite infested snakes and cabinets is not good for anyone. I am not a reptile dealer, snake flipper or professional breeder. I am a guy who cares a lot about his pets. I want to see my animals thrive for years, whether they are in my care or not.

Hi,
I forwarded this email to her and she said she will reply herself tonight. However, I know she still wants to pythons and would be continuing their treatment herself. If you are so worried about the mites, I would also be worried about the cabinets themselves. If it were up to me, I would get a refund for the pythons and the cabinets. However, it's her money, so it's up to her. I just wanted to mention it in case it slipped your mind, in regards to contamination.

Hi Adam,
I understand the receipt states a pair of healthy/mite free savu pythons (well I never seen a copy, so I'm going on your word). However, before I ask for a refund I would like to come over next Sunday and verify the mite infestation to make sure that you aren't just giving me a line; because you found someone else willing to buy them for more money.
I don't mean to be rude about this, but because of how this entire transaction has gone down and how I can not now suddenly wait a couple more weeks for treatment (since mites have a lifespan of 19 days, roughly). I find this whole thing hard to believe. If there are mites, then it'll be easy enough to give me my $490 back in cash after I inspect them.
Please feel free to respond with your thoughts on the subject.

For the record I am following a formula of treatment provided by several different sources. They all stated that you should spray the face, that is where they hide! I have yet to see any of these sources provide any detailed research on effects. So Im not sure how anyone can claim they truly know the effects. Nix is the only chemical that was being used. The other pets were considered. Candace was aware of this temporary treatment of those sold.
I understand your frustrations here. I truly am sorry. I told you exactly who you were dealing with, a guy selling his pets.
I know that I have wasted all of our times...
I have returned both the 490 plus an extra 25 for your troubles. This also cost me 15 dollars in fees...
Perhaps it will pay for your trip to your next reptile show.
Good Luck!
This was the last email I received from him and I do have my money back. However, this whole ordeal has been a little over the top. You are probably wondering why I would want mite infested snakes, or why I went along with the deal for so long. I assumed he was capable of treating the mites, and I felt comfortable with my own experience to treat them as well. It was mainly an issue of time and elbow grease to deal with this. My friend said they looked okay, and it didn't seem like a bad infestation. I didn't want to hold it against him, since he seemed to care greatly for his snakes and was, somewhat, upfront about the mite issue. So it wasn't a big deal in my book. Anyways, this has gotten long winded...
tl;dr for those that don't want to read this entire mess.
1) Here is the receipt that was provided: http://i.imgur.com/2dpvt.jpg
2) Candace tells me about a gentleman selling Savu pythons. I'm interested. Much wishy washy, and weird price haggling commences but we finally settle on a price. Find out the snakes have mites after express interest in purchasing.
3) Candace goes to inspect the snakes, pays Adam, picks up her snakes, and says that I'll be down in a couple of weeks for the Savu. On December 2nd she emails him on when I'll be down and he replies back that the Savu are suddenly not healthy.
4) He says the transaction is void and I'll be repaid.
5) I find this kinda sketchy and ask to come down and view the Savu myself. 6)After passive aggressively being told I don't know what I'm talking about, I decide that I've had enough and just ask for my money back.
7) I get my money back.
8) I made this thread and will be linking him in an email once I hit submit.

Also, for your records (since you couldn't be bothered to keep a copy of a business transaction in your files), here is the receipt that makes no mention of your TOS including your ability to void the transaction, only that you will give me the savu pythons after Nix treatment was completed. Coupled with Candace telling you, in person, that I was willing and able to continue treatment on both the cages and the snakes after I got them back to my place...
Please make sure to GIFT the payment to me via paypal.
