    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Just a bit of Info on Alan I ordered cages from him in december a T-421 5 stack with heatig lighting bottom stand and an arboreal slat front from him with the same. I was told this would arive in early January. It was early Febuary when it came and when it arrived and I unpacked it It was lacking Heating lighting stand and Glass! With one notable exception Alan sent me a free devided cage with drop down doors now this came with the glass but no hidges. I had been informed shortly before that the base unit had been left out and he would build it and ship it with the hidges for the free cages glass in around 2 weeks. Within an hour of unpacking the cage I talked to Alan on the phone whos first words were that he forgot to ship the heating lighting and glass but that he would ship it ASAP. Later I was told it was shipped but there was no shipping number this was around 3 weeks ago now. It has not been easy to contact Alan over the course of this purchase at times its been like pulling teeth. Alan has 2 emails, about 5 phone numbers, and 2 forums he can reach me at yet despite multiple calls to him and emails and PMs on forums I have nothing. The next bit is a message to you Alan. Others are free to read it.

Alan: Its been several weeks sense you tole me my glass, heating, and lighting was shipped. Sense then I have not heard a peep from you despite repeated e-mails, phone calls, and PMs on this forum so i figure that mabye you will see it here? You message machines full to, or its shut off. Please call me you have my numbers about 5 i think... or email me [email protected]
 
Sorry you're having this trouble Robert. Unfortunately you're not the first. I do hope Alan man's up and works this out to your satisfaction, but in the future I'd encourage you to do a search here on the BOI before doing business with someone.

I live an hour from him and I could pick up and pay for cages from him in person and avoid the aggravation so many others have had, but I won't.
I was at a show Alan was vending at last year and found some snakes I'd like to have had, but I didn't have the caging available for them. I could have bought from him and came home with some very nice snakes that I can't find just every day, the seller of the snakes even suggested it, but I left without them. Had it been another vendor there selling cages I probably would have those snakes now, but I won't do business with him as a result of his treatment of other customers.

You know, at one time you were one of the good guys, but you put on the scumbag jacket and it became a second skin.

I prefer Reed or Yertle don't actually go by Robert. And Wes your off by one year im 18 now but just for a couple months. Also I had heard some of the stuff about Alan but also had been on another forum and interacting with him for 3or so years and I though he was a nice guy with good products that did good buisness over all now I know better.
 
Well Yertle, I know that forum of which you speak. Somehow alan is a mod or supermod over there even though he's proven himself to be a scammer and a thief many times over. Gary is far too nice to the people he considers his friends.

Cmon its not that hard to realize when people are trying to call you and find out what's going on with their stuff. Seriously, you're a good guy and all when it comes to bs'ing on the forums, but as far as your business goes, when one sees all these negative threads it makes em not want to do business with you.

Just do yourself and yertle a favor.. if you're having personal issues and you KNOW you have open transactions call your customers and let them know that their orders will be delayed and give them the option to cancel any unshipped orders and refund any balance left over. Just at least give them the courtesy to contact them.

Hell, you still owe me for helping you set up the shopping cart for the cigar site.. but im not even gonna worry about that since i have far more important things to worry about than getting a rack.

Wish I could say the Same Nora! Unfortunatly my purchases are pretty much staled till The racks final peices come in. Not good news seeing as NARBC is ina few weeks! :angry:
 
I know Reed. Just keep calling him til he calls back. even if it's once a day. he's gotta respond one way or another.. and make sure you let him know about this thread so he can have the chance to respond and try to rectify this situation... I know he's done good with steve in the past, so there should be no reason why he cant with you.

Actually headed down with my Dad on friday got the VIP pass and hoping to have a blast there! I've got a very very very small number of cages which i generally keep resevered for breaks or such just incase. I do how ever have a few set aside for emergencies AKA NARBC. But i woudl much prefer more then I have.

I don't think I'd define weeks and weeks of being jerked around, lied to, screwed with, delayed, argued with and verbally attacked in order to finally get something that's inferior to what was paid for and promised to begin with as "done good"
 
No i agree with you seamus, yah he's gotten around to getting things taken care of with some of his customers but thats all that what it all comes down to.. him getting around to it.

i find it rather amuzing that it seems thou whenever a buyer has an issue with the seller, the sellers excuses are usually, i was out of town, i had family issues, i'm having personal problems... for me i personally dont give a crap about a seller's personal issues or problems, or if your dog is dying from a rare form of stupidity. That person has an obligation to fulfill to his or her customer, and if they're not gonna deliver what they promise and keep their personal life separate from business, then they shouldnt even be selling stuff to begin with until they have things at home settled.
 
Well first Wes. He is a mod of his section. The section I put up for a reason. But again you do not know what is happening behond the scenes from this deal. Meaning what I am doing.


I told Reed I would help anyway I could. I have been at shows all weekend. But I am back. I can not force anything but I will be taking certain steps.

Step away Gary. You're not the only one taking the steps he can. Maybe if we all take the steps we can he'll actually come through.
 
Gary, there really isnt much that can be done to be honest.. Reed did what he should do, and now the ball is in alan's court unless yertle wants to play too.

Not when a certain site has been hosted longer then the year and also the rest of the sites were never paid for but Gary was nice and said nothing. Gives me a reason to be a bit strict here as now I will not be a bad guyfor taken payment for something and not giving it.

See my point? Steps have already been already been taken....................
 
I think by the sound of this Alan has now burned all of his bridges.
 
I don't want ya'll to fight over this it will get taken care of even if it has to go further then it has. I tried to resolve it just between us now that that has failed I am going public with it and then theres pretty much only one step left and that would be to press charges. As Nora said the Balls in Alans court. :shrug01:
