    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Alan didnt technically rob me.. but then again he said he'd hook me up if i helped him out on the site, and i still have nothing. But im not gonna cry over spilled milk with this one because it aint worth my time. If alan still wants to make good on what i did to help him, then cool. if not i have resources and can get what I need.
 
I guess Alan figures if he ignores yet another bad guy thread, it will go away. :shrug01: :rolleyes:

I haven't seen him on AIM in two weeks.
 
His mom is probably sick or in the hospital again. I know she's been having a lot of medical issues lately.
 
That is Not cool But all in the same he should put up on the front page of his sites he gets FREE that he will not be around and let his customers he owes know about it.

When it started reflecting on me just becuase I hosted things for him it upset me.

Reed is a good guy. I know if he was told t will be untill this date untill you get this. He would understand.

maybe if people actually had a way to contact him, they wouldnt be having these problems.

Even if that's the case, he still has an obligation to his customers...at the very least, he needs to communicate with them. I find it hard to believe that he can't find 2 minutes to check his email...with WiFi being practically everywhere now, he could probably check his email right beside her hospital bed. That's of course assuming that this is his excuse...for all we know, he's just decided to forget about the fact that he OWES people their products.

So sad to see someone who once had a solid reputation lose it over something as simple as communicating with customers. If his personal life is so hectic, he needs to refund his customers their money, and get out of the damn business. Excuses, whether they are valid or not, are just that...excuses.

Isn't it funny how someone like you, butterball, someone who ALSO lies and abuses the people he does business with, come out to bash their compatriots?

There are still a couple of questions for you on your thread that you have run away from. I see you posting all over about alan and how bad he is. Are you going to address your misdeeds now too or just keep hoping that time will make people forget your double standards and abuse of position and outright lies?

Yeah, alan is a scumbag, he has been for a loooooooooong time. Ohhhhh, now I get it, you know he is because you are. Makes perfect sense to me now.

Wes have you ever thought about leaving name calling out of it. It may help with the name thing. Call people by their names. It is respect. You show respect and you recieve it.

Oh I completely agree with you, AP. He definately has an obligation to his customers. Its just sad to see his reputation go that way. Although he offers some decent caging I dont think I will ever buy from Alan..

I'm not sure why Al has attracted your attention, but he's always been a straight-up guy by me, and would certainly be surprised if he intentionally did anything wrong. I've enjoyed his friendship for the 4 years or so I've known him from various forums, as I have yours. The wisest thing for me is probably to just stay out of the whole mess. The truth, whatever it is, will come out eventually.
Regardless, he isn't in the scope of this discussion anyway.

HMM Shadow you? I would say you have now brought my name into things more then once when I have nothing to do with it.

Why not just leave me out of it. You know I will reply when a person brings my name into it. you know you will get a reaction. I think sometimes you need that reaction.

And I was not talking about Al respecting you. I was not even talking about me respecting you. You just made a post to someone becuase you go off first think second. You did post and say you were sorry I give you that. If you took a higher road and made your points. IMO it would look better on you. And you may then get a reply from the person you were posting about. And maybe fix something instead of just adding to the fire........................

Now I could go in and see when he logged into his control panel(for hosting) I believe. But I do not think that is needed. As we can plainly see this is a habit now IMO. So it looks like it has been sometime he has even been online. Who knows Alan may make this right when he is back. I am not sure either way.

Abhishek, my problem with al, as with alan, is lies and double standards. Add the abuse of his position of authority to butterball's and you have it in a nutshell. I am SURE that as long as he can USE someone to further his gain or reputation, he's a sweetheart.

The thing is, once that need is fulfilled, he puts on the thumbscrews and tightens away. That is not cool.

Sort of like alan always promising it will be the last time, that he has an excuse, and on and on and on.

Well, I'm certain that there is absolutely nothing I could do to improve Al's reputation in the hobby...I'm a very small fish in a very large sea. Al's reputation and knowledge speaks for itself, and needs no help from me. I am fairly certain that there is nothing Al could gain by being friendly to me other than my friendship...being that I have a very limited presence in this hobby, that's not exactly an ace in the hole. The same would go for you.

Again though, this thread isn't about Al.

Gary: Ya I hope it works out to soon. I actually picked up the Malaysian Male this weekend at NARBC and hes about 6-6.5 feet tops but a beatutiful puppy tame animal. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can get that female.

Wes: Al should go on a diff post but that your choice I don't really care either way.

And as for the other comments I sure as hell hope alan gets his stuff together and makes good if and when he shows up again. But seriously even if you have to rush to your moms side you have an obligation to your customers!

Oh also I would love some input of this.
