In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Albino Snake-Eyes

Very cool! Only thing is, I can tell that the darker eyes came from lower incubation temps, you guys. If it had come from higher temps they would be red.

The same thing happens on the skin if a Tremper is cooled or incubated at a low temp.

Depends on the actual line, but typically below 83-86 dg, you will hatch darker Trempers with much darker eyes. Above these temps, you will hatch lighter colored albinos, with more red to the eyes. The RAPTORs, Blazings, etc, are no different in that respect. The :slamit: eyes can also darken, unfortunately.

I don't know Dan, aren't we looking at two different types of "snake eye" here (possibly). There's the snake eye trait that's showing in a lot of blizzards and some tangs/super hypos. There seems to be very distinct half black and half grey. Then there's the snake eye trait associated with the RAPTOR...which seems to be more abstract, causing a reddish hue in varying amounts and not so distinct. Of course, my opinion here is based on pictures, since I've yet to hatch a snake eye or raptor. It's completely possible that they are the same thing.

But, if it is two separate types of snake eye traits, possibly the "blizzard snake eye" trait only expresses in black. Still makes no sense in an albino though. Maybe Dan's right...lower incub. temps?? I couldn't imagine a raptor expressing black eyes though...even if it was incubated at a low temp. I mean female raptors still have red eyes right?

snake eyes seen in other albino lines?

just curious if the "snake eyes" trait has been observed popping up randomly in any of the other albino lines- the bell and rainwater (las vegas)?

the only reason i am asking is because back in 2003, i produced a handful of rainwater patternless albinos and one of them had "snake eyes". however, at the time i believed the animal appeared "cross eyed" and was genetically weak due to inbreeding so it was culled. i know some people would not agree with this practice, but if given another chance i would have done the same again.

i would like to hear other forum members' responses/thoughts. thanks in advance

I do not know if the RAPTOR, and Blizzard eye traits are the same, I think they may be. Im sure that an albino cannot express black. Eclipse, Blizzard, and also Super Snows have black eyes, but each are red when expressed along with the Albino gene. Trempers are just more sensitive to inc temps and/or 'cooling'.

I have a Tremper Blazing that also has pretty dark eyes, and alot of them do. It is because they were cooled, or incubated on the low side, though.

Also I saw quite a bit of difference in the 2 RAPTORs we hatched last year. One was inc. at 90 dg., and the other about 83 dg. Not just the RAPTORs though, there is a difference to the eyes of Tremper Albinos incubated at different temps too. Y`know how people keep saying they have dark, or 'brown' Tremps? LOL Its not just the skin, the eyes can get pretty dark also.

BTW (just to anyone reading, noone in particular) high end Trempers do not turn brown, it is grey-ish, and it will likely not happen if they are kept at proper temps. 90-94 on the hotspot on the floor, and they may even require additional ambient heat if your house/room, etc, get cool in the winter.

OK, I have slipped up and I'm really sorry for the confusion!! Very embarrassing! When I see snake eyes - I automatically think "Tremper". Sorry, that's just the way my brain works. :notallthe But, I don't have many hatchlings this season yet, and so far I've only hatched one Tremper, which is a Blazing Blizzard. While I do have eggs incubating from my Tremper snake eyed blazing blizzard, they haven't hatched yet. This baby is the result of breeding my Las Vegas Blazing Blazzard to a Las Vegas albino het blizzard. There were 2 hatchlings, both were incubated for male at 90º. I have 2 other hatchlings from the same male but from a blizzard het albino female, and both of those have normal eyes. Why is it when I say stupid things it has to be so public? :censored:

Oh my goodness, I love that snow baby, Shelly!!!!! She's adorable - and very cool eyes as well!
Thank you - I think she is absolutely adorable.

Cool, its a Rainwater. LOL So Shelly, how are its eyes in person? They look pretty dark in the pic, but I cant imagine them actually being black. The 'normal' part of the eye, has got the Rainwater look to it, sorta tan-ish.

So maybe RW Blazings wont have super red eyes either? Bummer

This is what makes breeding/keeping Leopard Geckos so much fun!

Dan I have a 10X jewelers loupe and went eye ball to eye ball with him and I absolutely swear to you that eye is jet black. The other half is greyish-tan. And there is a white bar dividing the black and the grey.

Are those from garrick? The parents, because i know a lot of his line of LVBB has some snake eye in it.
Yes, the whole group came from Garrick. Good to hear he has snake eye in his bloodlines. I thought the Tremper line was the only one, so was extremely surprised by this albino. Still weird that it's black and not red!

Interesting. I would think the snake eyes came from the Blizzard, not the Albino line. But jeez, who knows really, these are some pretty crazy reptiles as far as 'normal' genetics goes!

The mom was a Las Vegas Blazing Blizzard with normal eyes. If Garrick has snake-eyes in his blood lines then I guess they must have crossed over into her het son.
