    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

albino???

something with as high UV requirementsas as beardies makes it highly unlikely that an albino would live a long, healthy life and be able to reproduce.

Please explain the above statement. I can only assume since melanin helps protect the skin from ultraviolet light, is it either because they burn or can not process vitamin D properly without melanin?

It`s also because they are sensitive to light, and require so much of it.

Think of a nearly blind Beardie, who can hardly even catch his food. :(

Yeah with gliders and alot of other animals they are also high stress too and they also some call them a genetic defect I call them a morph :) I love the albino coloring! they are soo pretty Also is there like a cremeino coloring in beardies? I know alot more bout Gliders and Leos then beardies lol

There is a breeder in Australia that has albino bearded dragons, but since they can not ship any reptiles out of their country we will probably never see them.

There are two separate issues with albinism. First is that the skin lacks protection from UV light, leading to damage to the cells and DNA. Second is retinal problems: without a pigmented iris or retinal pigemented epithelium, the amount of light reaching the retina is excessive and even damaging. As a complication to this, albinos have a poorly developed retina, resulting in various other complications in vision.

There are a few other threads in the Bearded Dragon Forum concerning albino beardies. Just a run a search in this forum for "albino" and have fun reading!!! :)

Thanks for the replies, I never really thought about problems associated with albinism. I have an albino ball python but it basically lives in a world of shadows and doesn't appear to suffer any problems from albinism since it has no UV requirements.
