In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Alex Hutchison tease bronzino88 seller's regret

I will try to leave it at this:
Yeah, the matter is definitely done
It is over!
Done and over with

I'm done with it.

You do seem to want to try to cut off all further comment to limit the mounting damage to your reputation.
However, you were the one who brought the subject here in the first place, trying to damage the seller's rep, and community input is important here which is why the seller came out of this a Good Guy according to many who posted, because he put the well being and life of the critter first.

I meant to type:
Makes sense the seller did NOT want to let him go.
Either on the immediate weather
or the actual value of the animal ($400 - $600)

comparative Tokay morph market prices

And if anyone thinks the current market value
was not a major part of the abrupt cancellation
of the deal with no option to work around
the weather conditions here are some prices
that are the next option down the line.
These prices don't include shipping
and are no where near a $100 shipped good deal.

Although the pending very cold weather was a good reason for the seller to not ship, and refund, the possibility of a PayPal hanky panky in the making, where this buyer seems to have had another party pay for the critter may have also weighed in.

Jo Nathan you are putting to much thought about the value of this tokay gecko.

We all have seen grossly overpriced reptiles.some tokays are there right now.

I do not think your seller backed out because he under priced his gecko.

A reptile is only worth what someone will pay for it.

Okay Ed,
supply and demand
It's a $300 jump up in price
to the next specialty Tokay Morph price
anywhere that I have seen or can find,
even searching Tokay Gecko
here on fauna.

Fortunately the physiological of sticky feet
is the same for both the $7 kind
and the $700 ones
and the $7000 next big morph kind.

I only wanted a blue green one
for photographic appeal
and some animal behavior interests.

There may be some better personality
to the specialy morphs over the wild type.

I certainly did not mean to provoke
the wrath of seller mob.

Damn. Buyers like this are the ones to avoid at all costs. Guaranteed he cannot be pleased regardless of anything and is unstable and uncaring except for himself. I wouldn’t sell him a nickel for a $20 bill.

So at this point I would agree with Robert. Jo Nathan, just don't respond to every post made and just let this one die off. You said you were done (numerous times). So be done and let everyone else reach their own opinions. Ignore if you do not agree. Be done, like the seller.

It is over, it is done. Nothing else to be said. Step away and save whatever reputation you have. Again, you got your refund. Sorry you did not get the gecko. Lessons learned. :)

I'd like to see some one post any and all correspondence with regard to the deal. I'm shocked nobody asked for that yet! Or did I miss something. Any texts? Emails? Was the money refunded at the same time the deal was ended? Money was taken by the seller. If he wasn't comfortable shipping because of the weather, why not just delay until a more suitable day?

I get why nobody wants to discuss.this. But what bothers me is that nobody is looking at this with common sense. I get that people think the OP is a nut job. But the BOI is not a popularity contest. Again, why wasn't a more sufficient date set up? Why the abrupt cancellation and refund?

And why has no one requested proof (texts, e-mails)? Sorry if I missed it, but I've seen no pressure to provide it.

You are totally right to request proof. You are as usual a refreshing breeze of common sense.
After all, not only were there low temps involved, but the seller may have been uneasy about the payment method used here.
From the screen shot Jo Nathan posted in #42, there is an implication that payment from someone else's PayPal account was used as payment for this transaction but this form of payment from another person did not seem to be discussed with the seller or receive the seller's permission prior. This can have adverse consequences for a seller. Further relevant information about exactly whose address the critter would be shipped to was not evident as it was obscured in the post.
If that payer later does a chargeback because the item was not received, the seller can lose both money and critter.

Jo Nathan is trying to make it all about the selling price, but both the low temps and the possible PayPal hanky hanky also provide good reason for the seller to cancel and refund.

I have cancelled plenty of orders due to "bad weather" or something else when I got a complete whackjob vibe from the customer. Perhaps the seller was merely trying to be tactful in his refusal of sale, to (hopefully) avoid an issue. Seeing how the buyer flipped out over a weather problem (SHIP IT ANYWAYS!) I cannot imagine what would have happened had the seller told the buyer to go and kick rocks because he simply did not want to do business with him. Anyways that's just my take!

That's funny but accurate.

I haven’t seen where anyone has denied that anything the other said happened, which would then require proof. This was a situation where the OP believes the intent of the seller in not wanting to ship was to reneg on the deal due to underpricing the animal, which probably wouldn’t show up on texts/emails so for me there wasn’t much point in asking for the exchange.

I advised Mr. Kingfisher that he is welcome to contact our customer service department if he would like to lodge a formal complaint. I am, of course, our customer service department, but I promise this complaint will be taken seriously and fire will rain down upon all those responsible.

It seems Jo Nathan feels like he can ask others not to be 'vicious' in his private messages but feels free to be quite vicious himself when the fancy strikes him.

What if the actual reason was not pricing but the possible PayPal issue. We are hearing pricing from Jo Nathan, but is that the reason? I think the seller is not going to argue, he courteously refunded and is staying out of it all.

It's a done deal. Seller didn't sell and has not returned (for obvious reasons). Buyer got his refund. Sheesh. Let it go. Ain't no big thang at this point.

Is it just me, or do the OP's posts seem like they are written like poems??

I think Mike is right, the seller realized the OP had unrealistic expectations and decided he didn't want to deal with the hassle of an unreasonable buyer.

This seems to me like a smart seller, and he has also been smart enough not to get drawn into debate with the OP. The OP meanwhile, is not helping himself out by switching to PMing people with equally weird comments.
