Thanks Paul Moldovan

Poor snake

Paul,

Since she ate for you last Friday, I wouldn't worry too much about her refusing food.....but apparently she now has a nasty RI. Can you arrange to get her treated?? What kind of temps are you keeping her in?

It's hard when a deal goes sour, but I hope you can see fit to get the animal taken care of so that she doesn't continue to suffer over a monetary situation between you and the seller. Are you planning on returning her for a full refund, or keeping her with a partial refund for the vet bills?

Have you been able to get your sister's digital cam yet? I'd like to see pics of her.

I thied to work it out with him but nothing yet. even if he would send payment for the vet bills i would be happy. this snake isnt doing well at all and i would hate to see it die because the seller didnt do a good job on shipping.

The pic above was taken last saturday. she looks good in the pic. she was in a shed and ate for me friday even when she was blue eyed. you cant really see in the pic but her skin is real saggy from not eating well. i can pinch like 4 inches of skin when i hold her. once i get her to the vet and get her RI taken care of and fatten her up i bet she would be a real nice snake. i contacted paypal about this matter and if he dont make it right with me they are suspending his paypal account. i dont like to say any one is a bad guy but i wish he would make this right with me so i can drop all of this.

Thanks Paul Moldovan

Paul,

Thanks for the pics.

Her weight doesn't look all that bad to me, but I'm sure it's tough to tell in a picture.

What I'm most concerned about is:

its mouth is just foaming with mucus. i also noticed her mouth is bleeding. she cant breeth at all and her mouth is open. her nostrils are cloged up with snots.
Do you have an appointment scheduled for her with a vet? Regardless of the situation with Jeff, she needs to be treated. I'm sure that you can negotiate something with him somehow, but please don't let her condition deteriorate in the meantime.

Good luck!

Jeff Contacted me tonight and said he will refund $70 so i can get her to the vet. as soon as i recieved the paypal i will post it. as for the snake i'm calling the vet monday to appointment so she can be seen. i will post what the vet had to say.

Thanks Paul Moldovan

Jeff Refunded $70 so i can get her to the vet. He didnt dought the R.I. sence he shipped 2nd day delivery and we had a foot of snow. Jeff isnt a bad guy after all. Thanks Paul Moldovan

You have got to be kidding???"Jeff isn't a bad guy after all"

He didnt dought the R.I. sence he shipped 2nd day delivery and we had a foot of snow. Jeff isnt a bad guy after all.
HUH???
Anyone who would ship any reptile 2nd day air in any type of weather let alone winter. In my book is a "bad guy". The only thing he did by sending both snakes(Not 1 but 2 different snakes to 2 different people) 2nd day is harm the snakes and fatten his pocket. He should refund all of your money because the vet bills and your time will be way more than that. You purchased a healthy snake and that is what you should have recieved any less is a complete rip-off.
i picked it up today and was holding her. its mouth is just foaming with mucus. i also noticed her mouth is bleeding. she cant breeth at all and her mouth is open. her nostrils are cloged up with snots. she refuses to feed and when she goes poo its diarea (she goes poo like 3 times a day) as of yet i havent recieved any refund or payment to take her to the vet.
An RI this bad does not happen in a few days. That snake was sick when it was shipped. It would still be sick 2nd day air or not.
This guy needs to GET OUT of shipping keeping and shipping reptiles all together if he can't handle it.
Just sickens me!

Evey thing you said is true but atleast i got half the money back. for awhile i thought i wasnt getting anything but ripped. it will take some time to get her back to good health. i have her cage set at 88 deg and i check on her like every 2 hours. im taking her to the vet friday so i will see what he has to say. Paul Moldovan

sounds like someone is trying to pacify you with $70 so his paypal account does not get suspended and thus he can rip more people off. do you realize that the vet bills on this animal iis atleast going to be a couple hundred dollars?
he pacifiess you with $70? you says he is not so bad but yet he has screwed several people over including yourself, and you have a very sick boa which needs imediate mecial attentionand is going to cost allot of money (way more than you paid for the snake) and yet may still die?
look at the overall picture... the guy is still screwin ya.

i think you might want to rethink all of this a bit

Friday???

I live in the middle of nowhere, the nearest semi-competent reptile vet is 75 miles away, but when I had an ill snake, I was able to get the vet to see her the same day.

Of course, I am only going by your description of her condition, but it sounds like she needs to be seen IMMEDIATELY. Any possible chance of getting her in before Friday?

As far as the partial refund, I think you might have been better off if he'd agreed to refund you the purchase price of the snake, since it's very likely that the vet bills will exceed that.

Good luck with her, please keep us posted on her recovery.

I agree with Terese, waiting that long might be too much to bring the snake back to health. It is never too early to start with treatment in cases of URI.

Good luck!

jeff has agreed to refund the rest of the cash. as for the vet i tried to see if they will take her faster and they said they couldnt see her any faster due to they re in the operating room and the lady at the counter knows nothing about reptiles. i called a pet store close to me and they offered to sell me a pill and they take the R.I. away. i asked them for the name of the pill and they couldnt answer that question so i didnt bother with it because who knows what it is. the vet said on the phone i can crank up the heat and put vics on her noise to help her breeth. i didnt do that because i wanted to hear what you guys/gals had to say about vics on her noise.

Thanks Paul Moldovan

p.s. i seen on her gums today some kind of cheesy looking stuff.

bad news-

Cheesy stuff? Sounds like your snake has rather advanced mouth rot. That can be very very bad. It also sounds like its way past anything that would get better on its own. Make sure you tell the vet about it. I wonder how the pet store would suggest you give a snake a pill :eek2: ? Pretty weird. Basically, there aren't any over the counter snake medications. I've heard of people giving them fish antibiotics but I personally wouldn't mess with it.

Good luck!!!!

Giving pills to snakes

Just a note on that, I brought home a medium priced ($400) snake and it developed RI within the first week from stress. When we brought it to the vet (who specializes in reptiles), she gave him a shot of antibiotics and a bottle of pills with the instruction to put one a day inside a large mouse/small rat for the snake. Within 10 days of that the snake was fine (of course, it was caught at the first symptoms). It was kind of a pain cause we had to cut open the rat to get the pill in there (yuck!).

The pills, btw, were Baytril and certainly did the trick.

Paul,

I agree with the previous post. The cheese material in her gums is result of mouth rot. What has worked for me in the past is to remove the "cheese" material as frequently as needed and clean the area throughly with hydrogen peroxide. You can squezze some hydrogen peroxide with a cotton swab on her gums. Repeat until cured. If you have a place available where you can buy "Rid-rot" from Terrafauna (I'm not sure if the are selling it any more) that has also worked for me. You have to apply it right after cleaning with hydrogen peroxide. With regards of the advice your vet gave I agree with increasing the temperature. That will boost her immune system. I don't know about the pills or the vics though, I still think the way to go is with ATB.

Start removing the caseous stuff (cheesy) right away and before it begins to affect the bone structure, it might be too late then.

Good luck!

I had dealings with him a couple of years ago

I bought a goini from him. I was assured the snake was 2 years old and ready to breed. What I got (shipped by US postal service) was a snake that was 12 inches long and a girth less than the size of a #2 pencil.

While I was furious with Jeff and told him about it, I kept the snake because I didn't trust the idiot to take care of him if I sent it back....and I was fairly certain he would not refund me my money.

I will never deal with him again and hope nobody else does either.
