In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Allen Belcher / Big Daddy's Wholesale ... WARNING

If I remember correctly, there is a Mr. B.W. Smith who put down his entire collection due to IBD. He stated that even though he had some snakes in a quarantine area they still tested positive and were also put down. He stated that he felt there was a possibility of it being transmitted via airborne. Please correct me if my understanding is incorrect.

Doug, the problem is that no one knows for certain HOW it is spread, and there is a possiblity it very well COULD be airborne.

Laura Fopiano lost her collection to IBD as well, putting down even snakes that did NOT test positive, but without knowing exactly how it was spread.....well, she did what she felt had to be done to protect others from this horrible disease. I have more respect than I can voice for Laura, BW, and others that have gone through such a nightmare, and thought more of the safety of others than their own attachment to the animals as well as their financial losses.

I can't imagine how someone could be so oblivious to the pain and damage that they could be doing to others with their "denial" as Allen is.

Thats why I mentioned the buying time thing. Enough information has put into this thread for anyone to know that weak excuses and pity party storeys won't work here. Also keep in mind I've delt with Allen for quite some ti me before I ever started this thread. Even I slipped and gave him a pat on the back for pulling his ads just to get it spit in my face when I found he started another name to sell under. Wasn't trying to be harsh towards you Cathy , if I was I apologize.

No Bryon, I understood what you meant, and didn't take any offense to what you said.....I was just angry with myself for actually believing what Allen was telling me was truthful. I guess once again I've allowed someone to pull the wool over my eyes, so to speak......and I thought maybe a good blow to the head would knock some sense into me. ;)

I guess he thinks that the "Big daddy" thing works for him, i dont get it. if you want to swindle people wouldnt you change to a COMPLETELY diff name?
Ron, I disagree  As long as he keeps the Big Daddy name,We can see him coming...

Looks like Ben Siegel is right next to BOTH of Allen's tables......I wonder if he's aware of the situation.....

Yes I got the phone call the day this happened..And I remember crying ( yes men cry).....People put everything they have into these animals, Their hopes, thier dreams, Time, money, Just to have some selfish prick come along, and not care what their animals have and, pass them on to kill it all

Cat it's called "Greed".

Jamie,First off no pitch fork in this hand  I can only look at this from a Boa owners point, If I sold a boa that had IBD I would have to have each and every one of boas my checked. If say 10 out my 40 came up positive guess what 40 are going to be put down and start all over again,(Which would bite) These diseases come like thieves in the night, and the only way to stop it is find the cure or put down, and seeing as there is no cure Guess what the option is.Selling an animal that may have a potential of killing off other wise healthy ones, is just down right ignorant.
This came from another thread, where there is a disease running through the B.D community. People like this need to be stopped, But how ??? people will keep buying from people like this and in turn pass it on to some else...

Ding Ding we have a winner......Johnny tell what she has won :reddevil:

Bill I am looking at this table list, there are some really big names on there and we all know the bigger the name the more animals they are selling. Everyone on that list needs to be aware of the possibilities of what is going on. It is hard to believe this one show could change the entire boa world, forever. actually it has changed it already, I will not be bringing any new blood in till we get a handle on this disease.

I agree, Someone that has read this, and going to the show needs to let the promoters now of this thread, And what is suspected here.

I already sent an email with links to these threads to Shawn, for all the good it will do now.

One thing I would recommend to other vendors at this (or any other show for that matter) is to buy some "Germ-X hand sanitizer" gel or any other sani-wipes to have at hand. Have people disinfect their hands before and after handling any animals at their booth. Stains of snake body fluids can be easily carried from one booth to the next even if they are in opposite ends of the room. Let's face it because I've been there and done it, if you will buy an animal you are going to do a thorough inspection looking for any lumps or defects. Touching animal to feel his muscle tone, alertness, etc. usually completes the previous visual inspection. One way or the other the public will appreciate your concern for the sake of other animals in the show as well for any pathogens that could be transmitted to humans. It’s just a trip to any pharmacy and invest a few $ that will buy you “some” peace of mind. It’s about time to start a practice that’s highly recommended for any “petting zoo”, why not start with reptile shows before something happens?

That is excellent idea, and I had to chuckle thinking of the White Plains show when I was looking at some Boas and one of the vendors looked at me like a monkey doing a math problem,When I whipped out a pair of latex gloves to examine one of his Boas.

I really don't understand, I thought the study of these herps had grown by leaps? I know here in Cleveland Case Western Reserve has a big herpetology dept. I just feel like by now more should be known about this Killing disease.

I see it now.....so half of the posts don't make sense, at least in the order and placement of where they are now.

The whole idea of starting a new thread has now been defeated, and the IBD info will be buried in the rest of the BS.

Great idea.

Recommendation gone with the "other" thread...

Whether Mr. Belcher is attending a particular show or not, one thing I would highly recommend to all vendors is to buy some "Germ-X hand sanitizer" gel or any other sani-wipes to have handy. Have people disinfect their hands before and after handling snakes at their booth. Stains of snake body fluids can be easily carried from one booth to the next even if they are in opposite ends of the room.

Let's face it as I've been there and done that, if one is going to buy an animal, a thorough inspection looking for any defects is necessary. Touching an animal to feel his muscle tone, alertness, etc. completes a previous overall visual inspection. The public will appreciate your concern for the health of other animals in the show as well as for any pathogens that may be transmitted to humans. Just a trip to any pharmacy and a few $ invested will buy you “some” peace of mind.

It’s about time to start a practice that’s highly recommended for any “petting zoo”, why not start with reptile shows before something happens?

Regards.
