In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Allen Belcher / Big Daddy's Wholesale ... WARNING

Hello all,
I live in Alabama and have seen the condition of animals that this Big Daddy Wholesale company or whatever tries to sell people. I cannot believe that i didn't see this post until now. I actually will not attend the Birmingham "Dixie Reptile Show" since they attend every month. The animals they take to this show are so appalling that I will not bring my geckos into the same building they are in for fear of bringing a plague home with me!!
My only question is why are businesses allowed to operate in such a manner. You have so many organizations that want to have laws passed to keep us from keeping reptiles and this is the reason they are trying to have these laws passed. It is sickening that nothing is ever done about people and businesses such as these. As long as people are not aware of these subhumans they will continue to stay in business and continue to mistreat imported animals and just get away with it.
The geckos that I saw on their table the last time I was in Birmingham with my friend were disgusting. It looked as if they had not been acclimated after importing from Madagascar (looked like that they had not not fed, watered, or dewormed ever since they came into the country). I cannot even explain to you what they looked like!!! I immediately placed all my geckos back in the cooler that I brought them to the show in and left the premises.
Big Daddy Wholesale is a disgrace to the State of Alabama and to the reptiler comunity as a whole. It takes greedy people without morals to run a outfit like theirs. In my book they are less than animals.
Is there anyone in the State of Alabama that I can call to have them inspected and shut down for good. The owner of this so-called business should have to live his life in a cage with insufficient food, no running water, and no climate controls.

The sad thing is, it really is next to impossible to get any kind of agency to do anything about reptile care. Whether it is out of ignorance or just not giving a darn about "just snakes and lizards" is debatable depending who you talk to that day, I don't know.

Didn't someone supposedly "inspect" his facility right after Bryon first raised questions about his husbandry (or lack thereof)?

I have heard comments that his Ball Pythons have always looked good at shows though...perhaps it's just a matter of "priorities" for Allen. Pfht. Looks can be deceiving.

This is someone who you may speak with down there that can help you...I got this from a friend and i havent persued it just yet...from what i hear, to do any business with animals in Al you need some type of license, this is an inspector of some sort who from what i hear is kick ass on people like allen.

If the laws in AL are different than around here, that would be a good option. I know neither the state or USDA deals with reptiles at all.....reptiles are completely exempt. The only way to get them to deal with anyone selling reptiles is if they sell rodents as well. At least that was the only answers I could get the last time I was trying to get a crappy pet store taken care of.

Here is the email i recieved with the card

The link is a scan of my Georgia Department of Agriculture Inspector's
business card. If you are in the pet trade in any way in Ga you have to have
a license from this department. The Animal Cruelty Division does the
regulating of the licenses. Ms. Thompson is my inspector here in north Ga.
Big Daddy is in extreme south Ga. She'll be able to get you pointed in the
right direction. Ga is V E R Y strict on animal cruelty. Also, it is illegal
in Ga to sale or trade sick, unhealthy, or diseased animals. That is stated
in the set of rules that you are issued when you get your license. He
attends a trade show in Birmingham,Al that we attend monthly (Dixie Reptile
Show). Luckily we've never handled his animals or he ours. Our booth isn't
near his. We've never purchased from him. We also mandate hand sanitizer at
our booths. I bet he'll be at the Atlanta show this weekend at the Cobb
Galleria. He sells a shit load of animals in Birmingham every month. He has
the biggest booth and selection. He is hurting a lot of people. The show
coordinators of the shows he attends need to be notified. Does he have a web
site with his show schedule on it?

Well, good news for Georgia...this is taken directly from the Georgia Dpt of Ag website:

Animal Protection - Who is Required to Have a License? Pet Dealers: anyone who sells, offers to sell, or exchanges, or offers for adoption dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, or other animals customarily obtained as pets in this state.

So...unlike Iowa, Georgia seems to consider reptiles worthy of protection.

He was not at the show at the Cobb Galleria. However, according to some earlier communication with him when I was looking for albino boas and a local rodent supplier, he will be at the Greater Atlanta Expo on Dec 2nd.

He was not at the show at the Cobb Galleria.

He WAS there on Sunday. He was not a vendor, he was sitting behind another vendors booth. How do I know this? My husband and I was there promoting the Repticon shows and saw him at the other vendors booth that had I believe boas beside Full Spectrum Reptiles.

HE WAS THERE!

His buildings and animals are not in Ga. He owns property near me and uses that Ga Address for his sellers permit only. His buildings , animals and business is in Smiths Station AL. Trust me on this.

I was there on Sat. only, I only spoke to you for a few minutes with Bryon (BryonsBoas), so you probably don't remember me. Since it was a long drive, I didn't come back on Sunday. Where was he? I bought a BP from the vendor that was on the aisle behind you (between the mouse guy and the jewlery lady) on the end. I hope it wasn't from some of Allen's stock.

I noticed somewhere (KS maybe?) recently that his ads were listing Smiths Station as his location.

How can he legally have a GA permit and not AL if all of his animals and facilities are in AL?? :NoNo:

He was sitting at the vendor that was across from GA Bearded Dragons. I believe you got your BP from Full Spectrum. FS had about 8 tables the other vendor had maybe 2 .

He uses the property he owns for the permit. Seems no one has bothered to check his " facilities " on his property in Ga. Doubtful he's been honest enough with the state of Ga to really let them whats on his property.

Just got an email from Alex concerning the Atlanta show on the 2nd. Allen will NOT be there. He will be at the Hamburg show.

I'm not trying to make anyones brain hurt in the morning Before your Coffee  It did occur to me that Allen may get "Banned" From these shows as a " Vendor" But that's not to say that he won't have people selling his sick animals. All the banning is going to to do is is cure the symptom not the disease, People Like Allen will continue to infect.... Oops sorry sell his animals by hook or crook, And what I find really sad is that people will read all there is about Allen, And look out for him at the shows, But will most likely buy one of his animals from someone else, and when there is a problem they will go after the vendor who sold it, bring it on here, and the vendor will state I was brokering for Allen, I didn't know.....Just food for thought.
