In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Allen Belcher / Big Daddy's Wholesale ... WARNING

Lloyd,
While out in the greenhouse, another thought brought a laugh to me. This thread is a gargantuan 800+ posts long, and dates back to well before Airtixx's problems with Allen and IBD. When Airtixx first came to the BOI with his concerns, he did his homework, found this thread, and resurrected it with his problem. Seems reasonable.
After a few days, some of the posters in this episode suggested that Airtixx start a new thread about Allen and IBD, as this thread admittedly had so much baggage, and a newcomer would have a harder time getting "caught up". Made sense to me as well. Airtixx did that, and the new thread grew to over 80 posts. Easily found and accessed again, as its still on the BOI front page. For whatever reason, the IBD complainants are now back in this thread, and in Cat's case, apparently upset that we would discuss the legal concerns of IBD here, and once again, avoid the REAL issue.
Tell you what, if you want to, lets resurrect the "other" REAL IBD thread about Allen, and recreate the concerns there. Don't know if we can do it without being threatened with having dead snakes shipped to us, or being told that we have strayed from the REAL issue, but at least we will have given them back the sandbox that they now want :D ! I can drop in on my computer every hour or two, and just maybe we can keep it civil !
Not pertinant.

Not funny.

Not necessary.

Chamco through and through.

It's NOT about you jim.

It's NOT about cat.

It's about allen and his selling of known infected snakes.

That is the topic, much as you'd like it otherwise.

I just get tired of certain folks that seem to turn every thread they join into a pissing match about I know more than you, and having to make a half-page long post to spin their way around questions that could have been answered with a simple yes or no.....and detract from the real purpose of the thread. And, of course, that even though I put them on ignore, I still have to see it when people keep quoting him, lol.

Hello Cathy,

I have never used the function to block a poster so I’m not sure how your screen would look like in a given thread. But in a thread such as this it’s probably something like: “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “post”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “post”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank”, “blank” “post”, etc.

On the other hand maybe you won’t even be able to read this message ;)

Regards.

I see your message fine Dan....and that's about the extent of it, lol. I can however still see that someone dinging my karma as well because "everyone else thought his discussion was worthy"

A note that needs to be added to this thread as well, I think.....another animal Allen sold recently, a spider ball python, has died. Tests for IBD are pending.

Let's try to explain it to you Cathy

A group of about a half-dozen posters here, most of them "regulars" in Fauna, with approximately 10,000 posts between them, were having a discussion about Allen, IBD, and their take on the legal implications. This in a thread already many months and over 800 posts long. There were disagreeing views, but not the name-calling and snide remarks we often see from the usual few <cough>. At no time did our exchange impede anyone else from posting, as that is not possible here. I think most of us would agree that one "purpose" of any conversation in these threads, or certainly one "result", is to keep the post in the spotlight and active. This was a stated purpose in the TSE thread that may be the record-holder here. And not having involved yourself in the legal discussion, you posted this, in response to a request from a poster to explain your criticism of the legal discussion:

I just get tired of certain folks that seem to turn every thread they join into a pissing match about I know more than you, and having to make a half-page long post to spin their way around questions that could have been answered with a simple yes or no.....and detract from the real purpose of the thread. And, of course, that even though I put them on ignore, I still have to see it when people keep quoting him, lol.

I just wanted to get back to the REAL situation at hand, in other words.

Speaking of "I know more than you", you were telling the group that they were "detracting from the real purpose of the thread" .... ;) Seems we lack your wisdom, as you are also the keeper of the "REAL" ...... ;) One thing to disagree respectfully, as those in the legal discussion had been doing, and another to make somewhat cheaper criticisms, as they find it difficult to disagree in any other manner <cough>. You got "dinged" for the hypocrisy Cat.

Oh you know he would like otherwise.

Jim you really let me down

I just want you guys to know that i read all 170 pages of this thread tonight...better than some of the novels ive read lately...and I gotta say Allen seemed shady from the first post, never once did I really suspect Bryon of being anything less than honest about the conditions in Allens facility, Airtrix also came across as very genuine, Jim from the Chameleon Company however was a huge dissapointment at first he seemed intelligent and wary of accusations (who can blame him for being skeptical) but as the thread progressed he became more and more difficult to understand and seemingly full of @#$%...are you really so proud that you cant admit when you're wrong Jim or is an apology to both airtrixx and bryon just so beyond your meager comprehension that you do not even see how wrong you have been? in any case I hope you recieved something from Allen in the way of financial compensation because I really cant understand why you would sacrifice your reputation and make such a complete fool out of yourself if not for monetary reasons....whatever the reasoning behind your long winded offensive and rediculous ramblings, I hope it was worth it...and although Im sure you're too aloof to care I know I will never do business with you, Terry, the Tegues4you guy, and Allen Belcher, and I have made it perfectly clear on every forum I belong to as to the reasons why- Adam

Nah, stick around he does that all the time...for free.

I have been reading this thread for a few weeks, just when I had a few minutes to kill. I have purchased a few animals from Big Daddy's Wholesale at the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham, AL.
When Big Daddy's first started coming to the show, I had no reservations about buying from them, they were a little mis-informed on some of their invertebrates, but a lot of people in the wholesale business are. I bought some various geckos from them over the first few months they were there, no problems with any of them. I decided to buy a RTB one day on a whim. I didn't think twice about buying from Big Daddy's Wholesale since I had bought other reptiles and invertebrates from them with no problems. So my girlfriend picked one out, we paid for it, and away we went. It was a good feeder from the start, eating its first meal in my care before we even left the show. When we got it home, we sexed it, and took some pictures. Looking more closely at the pictures, I saw what I thought to be a mite, so I took her out of her enclosure and looked more closely, and she was covered in mites and had the remainder of her last 3 sheds stuck to her tail from the anal plate to the tip of her tail and 2 eye caps on the left eye. After soaking her several times and 5 mite treatments she was fine.
Over the next several months I started paying more attention to the reptiles on Big Daddy's table, particularly the snakes. The more time that went by the more bad looking snakes I saw on his table. For the last year, I have not bought anything from that table, and don't plan on doing so ever again. I do occasionally look at what they have, and the animals look good for the most part upon first glance, and I can't stand to be at their table long enough to take a closer look at anything. Some of the animals look close to death, but most of them look OK.

I'm not saying I will never buy from them again, but I don't plan on it. It would have to be something that I wanted really bad, and nobody else has for sale, or something I can't buy online. Maybe these threads have made him start caring for the animals better than he did at first, maybe he changed suppliers again, I don't know. Truth is, I don't really care, I would rather buy an animal that is cared for as if it were part of the vendors own personal collection.

Chris,i would not buy anything from him even if he was the only one in the world that had whatever it may be.If you look at his ads on kingsnake, i personally don't notice anything differant and i do not think he will ever change his ways. Please keep in mind that it has been proven several times that his collection has IBD amongst it.That alone is enough of a reason to not take the chance of buying anything from him ever.I would avoid his tables totally.

I have been going to the Birmingham Reptile show for sometime now and Love it. But i refuse to go now Because Allan Belcher AKA bigdaddyswholesale vends there. I mistakingly bought an albino burmese python form him, before i knew that he was a crook and overall piece of animal killing shit, it was covered with mites 2 days later and had URI. It later ate and then regurged and died. THANKS ALLAN, You sir are a true con artist and should be banned from shows. I feel sorry for all of the animals that you keep in that hell hole you call a business. Please everyone stay away from this asshole he is scum and will do anything to get money... he cares nothing about the animals.
Thanks for your time.

Tom, keep reading.......

He sold animals that died of IBD, and kept on selling like nothing happened.

I went to the Dixie Reptile Show this past weekend and for a change I stopped at his tables and took a look around, not because I was going to buy anything, just to see if maybe he had started taking care of his animals. No surprises though, his tokay geckos looked like they were on their last legs, some of them looked like they were hours from death. A guy pointed out a dead tarantula to him while I was standing there, he put it under the table. Apparently he doesn't give a damn about the invertebrates either, their conditions are almost as bad if not worse than his reptiles.
He walked past me at one point when I was on the other end of the room and I had to stop myself from softening his face up a bit.
Maybe if Terry, the guy who organizes the show, gets enough complaints about him, he will do something. Or has this been tried already?

Chris

On the one hand, this seems like it would be a good story for an investigative reporter - getting a job as an employee.

On the other hand, this is the kind of crap that makes the industry look bad and I almost would rather the public not have that perception of reptile breeders.

Really - this is the same as Puppy Mill stuff that makes the purebred dog industry look evil. Hopefully we can get rid of these kind of breeders. There's no excuse for it.

Animal Control certainly needs to be notified as his animals need genuine rescue.

Those pictures really make me sad.

-=-

If he took better care of what he had, I guarantee he would make more money than he does now. For him, it's not about making money - it's about making money the lazy way.

And that steroids in the rodent feed thing - is that common?
Almost makes me want to breed my own in case the supplier of my supplier does something like that.

Unlikely. According to him there never has been any complaints.

Terry has posted on the issues surrounding Allen here in two different threads.

This is his user name on this forum.

Well when you seen five people with dead animals at my show and by the way I missed them why didnt you come to me then instead of hideing here at fauna?

Well someone had something good to say.Allen has done my show for a year.I have not had any complaints .For those of you on this witch hunt.Do you really think every snake allen sells if infected ?...

I don't think you will find much help there.

I have tried to be as fair as possible with this. For all of you that are slamming my business,WHEN YOU ARE AT MY SHOW AND YOU SEE A PROBLEM WITH AN ANIMAL PLEASE BRING IT TO MY ATTENTION AT THAT TIME NOT THREE MONTHS LATER.Thanks Terry
